    Prophecies of Scientific, Mathematical, and Astronomical Knowledge

    Three thousand years ago, the writer of Psalm 19 described the Sun as following a “circuit”, or circular course, through the universe.

    Psalms 19:4-6 He has set a tabernacle for the sun, Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, 5 And rejoices like a strong man to run its race. 6 Its rising is from one end of heaven, And its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

    Today, through the use of powerful telescopes, we no know that the sun is part of an enormous spiral galaxy called “the Milky Way”. The sun does in fact, move in a “circuit” or circular course through the universe, at speeds of more than 600,000 miles per hour. The milky way galaxy itself is flying through space at an estimated speed of over 2 million miles per hour.

    How did the Psalmist know this 3,000 years ago? Obviously, he didn’t know. The Bible claims that “Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

    2 Peter 1:21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

    The amazing power of the Living God, is such that He is able to speak to men who have set themselves aside for the Lord, so as to be used by Him. They write under the inspiration of the Spirit of God, what He wants them to say. Why this is difficult for people to believe, is beyond me. It is logical that if there is a God that has the technology and power to create this vast and complex universe, He is certainly able to cause men to write what He wants them to write and preserve it over time.

    Whatever your opinion is of the occurrences of natural disasters, the data regarding the marked increase in frequency and intensity is compelling. It is not a coincidence that this data runs parallel to Jesus prediction that these natural events would indicate to the residents of earth that His supernatural return was near. In fact, the entire purpose of the 3,5oo0 prophetic predictions found in the 66 books of the Bible, of which over 3,00o have already been fulfilled with 100 precision and accuracy, is to prove to the reader that the Bible is a supernatural document from outside the domain of time. The reason that Jesus told us there would be an increase in natural disasters just prior to His return, was to prepare us so that we would not be caught off guard.

    “Second Earth”, Kepler-22b Unlikely to Have Intelligent Life

    There has been much excitement in the world of Astronomy and Science recently, as a newly discovered planet named, ‘Kepler-22b’ is said to have the possibility of life. In an “inhabitable zone” around a star that is about 25 percent less luminous than our own sun, kepler-22b is 600 light years from Earth. This incredible distance of over 360 trillion miles would mean that it would take over 600 years to reach this planet from earth, if you could travel at the speed of light at 186 million miles per second.

    Although the possibility of life on any planet in the universe is exciting news, it is important to note that at the present time, this new data is highly speculative. No one has actually seen the planet through a telescope to verify it has water or life of any kind. The date used to make the present determination that this could be a planet similar to earth, is by an analysis of the heat reading of the planet that tells scientists water may be present.

    In the 1979 movie “The China Syndrome” a nuclear reactor experiences a meltdown of it’s core.

    In this hypothetical scenario, nuclear material located within a containment building reaches a temperature beyond a manageable capacity. As the temperatures increase, the reactor melts and burns through the foundation of the power plant and into the crust of the earth.

    The idea behind the term “China Syndrome” is that once the nuclear material generates heat beyond 4,000 degrees Fahrenheit, it could continue to burn itself all the way through the earth, to the other side of the planet, stopping at China.

    The Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in Japan has 6 “Boiling Water” reactors that were completed in the late 70′s. In fact, the plant that has reached a critical place of possible meltdown was designed by the United States.

    The Bible Gives No Evidence For Life on Other Planets

    Researchers today revealed that the “Goldilocks” planet called Gliese (GLEE-zuh) 581g that was said to be orbiting a nearby star, may not exist after all.

    When the announcement was made that an “Exoplanet” that could be very similar to the earth and may in fact contain life, it drew widespread attention all over the world. For years Atheists and non believers have claimed that it is rather prideful of Christians to insist that human being are the only life form found in the universe. The truth is that the Bible reveals that the sole purpose of the Universe was to “Display the Glory of God”.

    Psalms 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard.”

    It appears that the glory and power of the Lord is so great that He felt it necessary to make a public display of that glory so that the doubts and minds of all creation on earth would be settled as to whether or not He exists. That attempt seems to have failed since there remains a vast contingency of those who claim that there is no evidence for the existence of God.

    Isn’t it amazing that Creation itself is not sufficient to stop the mouths of all scoffers for the existence of God? If a truck fell out of the sky and landed in front of these, one would imagine that they would proclaim that the event did not occur and is a figment of the imagination. When Paul wrote the Book of Romans under the direction of the Holy Spirit, he sought to forever shut the mouths of all human excuses for why they do not believe in the one true Living God.

    Romans 1:18-25 “… men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things…. who exchanged the truth of God for the lie..”.

    The fact is that when God created each one of us, he “Hardwired” internally a knowledge of Himself inside of us. Much as a computer designer hard wires a BIOS into a computer that allows it to know what it is and what it’s purpose is. God made us with a knowledge of Him. This is why on the day of judgement when men proclaim that they did not know that God exists, He will show them that place inside themselves where He placed this knowledge.

    To better study the anode’s characteristics, the tiny rechargeable, lithium-based battery was formed inside a transmission electron microscope (TEM) at the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (CINT), a Department of Energy research facility jointly operated by Sandia and Los Alamos national laboratories.

    Says Huang of the work, reported in the Dec. 10 issue of the journalScience, “This experiment enables us to study the charging and discharging of a battery in real time and at atomic scale resolution, thus enlarging our understanding of the fundamental mechanisms by which batteries work.”

    Because nanowire-based materials in lithium ion batteries offer the potential for significant improvements in power and energy density over bulk electrodes, more stringent investigations of their operating properties should improve new generations of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, laptops and cell phones.

    “What motivated our work,” says Huang, “is that lithium ion batteries [LIB] have very important applications, but the low energy and power densities of current LIBs cannot meet the demand. To improve performance, we wanted to understand LIBs from the bottom up, and we thought in-situ TEM could bring new insights to the problem.”

    The Human Spirit and Digital Information

    Before a recent trip to Asia, I digitized several of my favorite DVD movies and placed them on my portable external hard drive for viewing at a later date. In the prior state as a DVD these movies took up a large amount of space that made them impossible to carry in my baggage. After the movies were changed into coded digital information and were placed on the external hard drive I could easily transport them in my baggage with no added weight whatsoever.

    This is possible because digital information has zero weight. How is it that thousands and thousands of pages of digital code placed on a data storage device can have no mass?

    When we speak of either a massive galaxy or a minute particle of dust, we do so in the same terms because they both have mass, charge, length and width. Yet when we speak of information and matter, these terms are no longer relevant because they have no mass or measure of weight.

    The weight of the 500 GB hard drive that I placed hundreds of movies on, weighed exactly the same before and after these digitized movies were added.

    In the human DNA genome, although it contains thousands and thousands of pages of digital information that directs the cells in their production of protein molecules, they add absolutely no weight to the DNA stand whatsoever. This leaves us with the perplexing question of exactly what is digital information and what is it comparable to?

    Ever since scientists discovered the appearance of intelligent design in the cell structure of all living things, most biologists have stated that this “appearance of design is simply an illusion”.

    Although the structure and functioning of the cell appears to be designed by an intelligence, biologists insist that the cell evolved and was not actually designed.

    From the first discovery of DNA by Watson and Crick, scientists have been aware that DNA stores information within itself that contains a four character chemical alphabet. This is the crucial information that a cell requires to transmit, build and assemble the protein molecules that every living cell needs to survive.

    This information within the DNA of the cell is a written language that is very similar to the written language of a computer code that directs the function of every computer system. Depending on the arrangement of this chemical alphabet, the DNA molecules relay this information to the cell for building proteins that make life possible.

    Atheists and humanists Richard Dawkins has stated that “The machine code of the genes is uncanny computer-like.” The amazing fact is that this computer code of the cell is so sophisticated that it is even more advanced than the human written computer code found in every software program that exists. The founder of Microsoft Bill Gates, has stated that “DNA is like a computer program but far, far more advanced than any software ever created.”

    Two Galaxies Collide in Brightest Ever Spectacle

    Astronomers have spotted a stunning burst of light as new stars are formed that beams out as much infrared light as an entire galaxy. The collision of two spiral galaxies has triggered this explosion, which is cloaked by dust that renders its stars nearly invisible in other wavelengths of light.

    The starburst newly revealed by the Nasa Spitzer telescope stands as the most luminous ever seen taking place away from the centres of merging parent galaxies.And the merging galaxies offer astronomers a sneak peek at the fate of our Milky Way in some 4.5 billion years when it is expected to plough into its nearest large galactic neighbour, the Andromeda Galaxy.

    It blazes ten times brighter than the nearby universe’s previous most famous ‘off-nuclear starburst’ that gleams in another galactic smash up known as the Antennae Galaxy. The new findings show that galaxy mergers can pack a real star-making wallop far from the respective galactic centres, where star-forming dust and gases typically pool.

    ‘This discovery proves that merging galaxies can generate powerful starbursts outside of the centres of the parent galaxies,’ says Hanae Inami, first author of a paper detailing the results in the July issue of The Astronomical Journal.

    The buried starburst was located in the interacting galaxies known as II Zw 096. This galactic collision - located around 500 million light years away in the constellation Delphinus (the Dolphin) - will continue to unfold for a few hundred million years.

    Gravitational forces have already dissolved the once-pinwheel shape of one of II Zw 096′s pair of merging galaxies. The ultra-bright starburst region spans 700 light-years or so - just a tiny portion of II Zw 096, which streams across some 50,000 to 60,000 light-years - yet it blasts out 80 percent of the infrared light from this galactic collision.

    On April 8, 2010, China re-routed email exchanges from the United States Department of Defense, U.S. Senate, NASA and the Department of Commerce.

    Claiming that the re-routing was “accidental”, there is little doubt that it was malicious intent that was the true motive says the Security Review Commission.

    Larry Wortzel, a member of the commission, said: “We don’t know what was done with the data when they got it. When I see things like this happen, I ask, who might be interested with all the communications traffic from the entire Department of Defense and federal government? It’s probably not a graduate student at Shanghai University.

    “What could you do if you had the stream of email traffic for 18 minutes to and from the US Joint Chiefs of Staff? Most importantly you would get the internet addresses of everybody that communicated.”

    Astronomers Discover First Planet Outside Our Galaxy

    Astronomers claim to have discovered the first planet originating from outside our galaxy. The Jupiter-like planet, they say, is part of a solar system which once belonged to a dwarf galaxy.This dwarf galaxy was in turn devoured by our own galaxy, the Milky Way, according to a team writing in the academic journal Science.

    The star, called HIP 13044, is nearing the end of its life and is 2000 light years from Earth. The discovery was made using a telescope in Chile.

    Cosmic cannibalism

    Planet hunters have so far netted nearly 500 so-called “exoplanets” outside our Solar System using various astronomical techniques. But all of those so far discovered, say the researchers, are indigenous to our own galaxy, the Milky Way. This find is different, they say, because the planet circles a sun which belongs to a group of stars called the “Helmi stream” which are known to have once belonged to a separate dwarf galaxy.

    Don’t Just Do Something, Stand There

    If you are like me, one of the most difficult things to accomplish as a follower of Jesus, is to do nothing. We live in a world where we must have constant perpetual motion or we will get run over by the guy working hard right behind us.

    There are several instances in the Bible where the Lord has told His people to do nothing. Just wait, and watch.

    When Israel had recently been delivered by the Lord from their terrible 400 years of slavery in Egypt, God took them on a long and difficult journey through the desert. Every day that God’s people awoke they found that every provision and blessing they could possibly need in their life, was already provided for them by the Lord.

    While on this journey, the Lord provided what they needed, by supernatural means. The Bible records that even the clothes and shoes that they wore did not wear out in all of their forty year journey.

    Anyone can make predictions—that is easy. Having them fulfilled is another story entirely. The more statements you make about the future and the greater the detail, the better the chances are that you will be proven wrong.

    For example, think how difficult it would be for someone to predict the exact city in which the birth of a future U.S. President would take place in the year 2700 A.D. But that’s what the prophet Micah did 700 years before the Messiah.

    How difficult do you think it would be to indicate the precise kind of death that a new, unknown religious leader would experience a thousand years from today? Could you predict and describe now a new method of execution not currently known—one that won’t even be invented for hundreds of years? That’s what David did in 1000 B.C. when he wrote Psalm 22.

    Or, how difficult would it be to predict the specific date of the appearance of some great future leader hundreds of years in advance? But that’s what the prophet Daniel did 530 years before Christ.

    On the other hand, if you did think up 50 specific prophecies about some man in the future you will never meet, how difficult do you think it would be for that man to fulfill all 50 of your predictions? How hard would it be for him if 25 of your predictions were about what other people would do to him and were completely beyond his control?

    We know that the Universe is not eternal. It had a “first cause”, and it is slowly winding down over the process of time. Since the Universe is not eternal and clearly began from nothing, who wound up what is now winding down?

    The Sun has not been in our solar system forever, and the Universe has not been here forever. If the Universe had been here forever, Then the Sun in our solar system would have burned out already, in fact all of the stars in the Universe would have already burned out.

    The second law of thermodynamics, the law of Entropy states that everything in the Universe is wearing out, winding down, running out of energy. Over time, energy becomes less and less usable. This means that the Universe had to have a Beginning.

    It took the scientist quite a long time to admit this fact, but the most credible scientists today admit that the Universe must have had a beginning.

    U.S. officials said Tuesday they couldn’t say what might have created a mysterious plume that set off an Internet frenzy after it streaked across the Southern California sky Monday night. But they said they were confident there was no threat to the United States.

    Speculation immediately arose that some sort of rocket or missile must have been fired after Los Angeles television station KCBS videotaped the spectacular trail from one of its traffic helicopters.

    But a Federal Aviation Administration official told NBC News that there were “no reports of unusual sightings” and that a review of radar replays “did not reveal a fast-moving object in that area.”

    That’s in line with the observations of scientists interviewed by NBC News and msnbc.com, who said that for all the sensation the video created on the Internet, the contrail was consistent what you’d see behind a normal jetliner or other large aircraft if you happened to spot it at sunset from the unusual aerial angle of the TV helicopter — in other words, it was probably an optical illusion.

    For those who missed the Perseids in August, another chance for a nighttime meteor-gazing is on its way. The annual Leonid shower is coming up in the middle of the month, offering any of those disappointed by cloud-cover the nights of the Perseids a (bad pun alert) “constellation prize.”

    The Leonids are thus named because these meteors appear to radiate from the part of the sky where the constellation Leo can be seen. In 2001, the Leonids put on a fantastic show that dazzled those who were up early enough (or late enough) to watch this powerful shower of “falling stars.” Sky-gazers watched a steady stream of meteors that sizzled across the black morning sky every few seconds.

    In early November of 1833, the meteors showered across the sky by the tens of thousands. The spectacular Leonid shower of that year caused people to believe the Apocalypse was on its way, and many looked forward to the Second Coming as flaming projectiles blazed through the darkness.

    Proof of Creation: The Language of the Cell

    A protein floats through the cellular fluid with a very specific purpose; it’s a protein on a mission. Its goal? To get into the nucleus and make itself available for use in chromatin. It’s got an important step to make. It has to get past the door. That is, it has to get through a nuclear pore into the guts of the nucleus, and it can’t do it on its own.

    The cell is an amazing world of busy, building, eating, quality control, and transportation organic machines, and they have to communicate with each other. The extent of cellular communication is astounding and intimidating to biochemistry students, not to mention the casual observer of a metabolic pathways chart [see link below].

    The nucleus is the hub of the cell, the home of the DNA, where all the major orders are given. We are all well aware that DNA is a digital code that contains the blueprints for the body. It is not the only code in the cell, though. Our friend the protein can only pass into the nucleus if it presents the right code to the nucleus’ taxicab — its nuclear transport receptor. This code, or nuclear localization signal (NLS), is a specific sequence of amino acids that acts like an address label on the protein. A transport receptor called Importin pulls up next to the protein and sees the NLS on it and, like a shuttlebus, transports the protein into the nucleus. Hooray, the protein makes it through the pore. Excellent. It gets dropped off inside and goes about its business.

    Scientists Create Moving 3D Holograms

    More than 30 years after the famous Star Wars movie scene in which a hologram of Princess Leia appealed for help from Obi-Wan Kenobi, US researchers have unveiled holographic technology to transmit and view moving three-dimensional images. The scientists at the University of Arizona say their prototype “holographic three-dimensional telepresence” is the world’s first practical 3D transmission system that works without requiring viewers to wear special glasses or other devices. The research is published in the journal Nature.

    Potential applications range from telemedicine and teleconferencing to mass entertainment. “Holographic telepresence means we can record a three-dimensional image in one location and show it in another location, in real-time, anywhere in the world,” said Nasser Peyghambarian, project leader. Existing 3D projection systems produce either static holograms with excellent depth and resolution but no movement — or stereoscopic films, such as Avatar, which give the perspective from one viewpoint only and do not allow the viewer to walk around the image. The new technology combines motion with an impression of genuine solidity.
