Gay Rights More Important Than Religious Rights

The New Mexico Court of Appeals upheld a ruling by the state’s Civil Rights Commission that a Christian photographer who refused to take pictures of a gay couple’s commitment ceremony violated the state’s discrimination law.

“Elane Photography may not discriminate in its commercial activities against protected classes as the basis for expressing its religious freedom,” Judge Tim Garcia wrote in a 45-page ruling.

The case dates back to 2006 when Vanessa Willock tried to hire Elane Photography for a “same-gender ceremony.” New Mexico law does not recognize either marriage or civil unions between persons of the same sex.

Elane Hugenin declined to accept the job and explained to Willock that because of their Christian beliefs the studio only handled “traditional weddings.”

  • The Return of Jesus and the Acceptance of Sin

The Return of Jesus and the Acceptance of Sin

As we approach the return of Jesus for His church, world-wide the acceptance of sin is increasing dramatically. Young people who claim that they love Jesus, yet live together in the same home without being married to each other. Men and women who claim to be Christians, yet live in a homosexual or lesbian relationship.

Rather than offend those who live in these lifestyles, Christians say nothing, hiding behind the phrase “I just love them and accept them the way they are…”

Jesus said that when we accept the sin of a confessing follower of him and say nothing about it, that he will hold us accountable for our indecisiveness.

Florida Teacher Suspended For Gay Opposition on Facebook

Florida Teacher Suspended For Gay Opposition on Facebook

An article this morning at Fox News is one more example of why the gay marriage/homosexual lifestyle controversy has gone too far.

It seems that a Florida Teacher with a perfect teaching record has been suspended for private comments that he made on his own Facebook page.

For this writer, when the day arrives that the constitution no longer protects my right to express my opinion on Facebook, this web site, or any other medium, in opposition to a moral question that I find extremely important, they can lock me up and throw away the key. I will not, nor should any Christian, be silent about the unreasonable and horrific course the United States is on granting equal rights to those who chose a reprobate lifestyle.

Preaching Against Homosexuality is Now a Hate Crime

The Southern Poverty Law Center this week labeled as “hate groups” several political and religious organizations that campaign against same-sex marriage and, the center says, engage in “repeated, groundless name-calling” against gays and lesbians.

Included on the list released by the civil rights organization is the Family Research Council, a prominent and politically influential group of social conservatives. The report by the law center, which has spent four decades tracking extremist groups and hate speech, accuses the council and a dozen other groups of putting out “demonizing propaganda aimed at homosexuals and other sexual minorities.”

The report, which has sparked debate across the Internet, taps into the continuing potency of social issues, such as same-sex marriage, in American politics. Several of the groups described in the report supported a successful effort to oust state Supreme Court judges in Iowa because of a unanimous ruling last year that legalized same-sex unions.

The Family Research Council has been at the forefront of political activism against same-sex marriage. In explaining the decision to put the council on its hate-groups list, the law center highlighted comments by Peter Sprigg, a senior fellow for policy studies at the council, who told MSNBC host Chris Matthews this year that he thinks “homosexual behavior” should be outlawed.

Broken Families: A Contributor to Gay Choice

Broken Families: A Contributor to Gay Choice

The Book of Romans, chapter 1 makes it very clear that whenever any person lives in a homosexual or lesbian lifestyle, it is a choice they made, not a genetic predisposition that cause them to be that way.

Romans 1:20-28 “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting”

The Word of God is the final authority on the sexual orientation of all human beings. God made us male and female and it was the purpose of His creation that males have relation ship with females. If a person is in a same sex relationship, that is a sin choice that they have made, just as any other sin choice. There is forgiveness and eternal life available for anyone who repents of this lifestyle and surrenders their life to Jesus Christ.

I have many friends who once claimed that they were “born gay” and today have turned from their sin and have been living happy and fulfilling lives by being married in heterosexual relationships . All of them admit that they used the excuse that they were born gay to justify their sin, but in reality they knew in their hearts that what they were doing was wrong. I personally believe that all people know when the way that they are living is wrong by the witness of God’s Spirit with out spirit.

All those precious people who suffered through the loss of one or both parents in their families as they were growing up can find the love and the acceptance they were longing for in a loving relationship with Jesus Christ. He longs to meet the needs of the broken hearted and hopeless. Remember to pray for those who are still suffering the pain of missing the loving family atmosphere of having two parents who loved and nurtured them.

  • The Changing Moral Values of Americans

The Changing Moral Values of Americans

It was not really a surprise that the new Pew Research Center report in October of this year revealed that Americans have increasingly believed that marriage is optional, and that a family can include a homosexual couple with a child.

The understanding and conviction that marriage is an institution ordained by God for the benefit of man, is less a concern today than at any other period of time in history. As Americans move farther and farther away from a close relationship with God, they feel less inclined to pay attention to what He says.

This is the fault of the pastors in many churches who no longer teach their congregations the Word of God from the pulpit, but instead bring flowery sermons on prosperity, wealth and feeling good about one’s self.

Coincidentally this past wednesday evening, I was teaching through the Book of Revelation in a local church about this very subject. In Chapter 3 of the Book of Revelation, Jesus commends the church at Philadelphia for their correct view of what is most important in Jesus church:

Revelation 3:8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.”

  • Kirsten Powers and Ignorance of Biblical Truth

Kirsten Powers and Ignorance of Biblical Truth

I recently finished reading an article on my iPad by Kirsten Powers who is a freelance writer for USA Today. There were so many inaccuracies and untrue statements about the Bible and Christianity, I thought I should make some sort of rebuttal here on Bible Prophecy Update.

The main thrust of Ms Powers article was to defend same-sex marriage on the basis of her imagined hypocrisy of Christians today.

She begins by saying that “some Christian leaders are rethinking their approach to this issue…”

Ms Powers then attributes an increase in teenage suicide rates amongst those who profess to be gay, as being the fault of Christians who proclaim the truth of God’s Word. “But why did it take multiple suicides to make a Christian group realize that heaping condemnation and judgment on others is not it’s job?. A reading of the Gospels would teach you that in about two minutes…”

Kirsten then reminds us that the reason that satan was kicked out of heaven was because of his pride, not because he was gay.”

The approach that Ms. Powers takes to Biblical truth is common amounts those who do not know what the Bible really teaches, nor have a correct understanding of what the intention of the Law of God is genuinely for.

Jesus often condemned the Pharisees for their twisting of Biblical truth because He said: You neither know the Scriptures, nor what they were intended for…

    Bauer Says ‘Activist Judges Beware’

    Bauer Says ‘Activist Judges Beware’

“Time and time again, the American people have rejected attempts to redefine the meaning of marriage. But liberal judges insist on pushing this radical agenda on us. Last night the voters of Iowa pushed back and rejected the justices. Activist judges everywhere have been put on notice,” said Gary Bauer, chairman of Campaign for Working Families.

“Judges do not have the right to legislate from the bench. Nor are they the supreme authority of the land. The voters of Iowamade that clear last night. Campaign for Working Families was proud to join the National Organization for Marriage, the American Family Association and Iowa for Freedom in an extensive media campaign exposing the radical record of these robed political activists. I am proud that Iowa voters stood up and said ‘Enough!’”

Activist Judges Removed From Office, It’s About Time

Activist Judges Removed From Office, It’s About Time

Contrary to the popular saying: “It is not the economy stupid”, it is “the conscience of America”, that is the real problem. The current economic crises, the lack of jobs, and the decrease in the value of the American dollar are only symptoms of a society which has forgotten God. The Lord promised all of us that if we would honor Him first in our lives, our Families and our government, that He would bless us in every way. If we would turn our focus from money and material things to just knowing, loving and pleasing the Lord in all areas of our life, then He would gladly take care of all of our other needs.

The desire to have a home, a good job and be able to provide for our families is a good a necessary goal for every American. When these goals take priority over Loving the Lord first, then the entire economy of our lives and our nations becomes a tangles mess. If we will make the focus of our life a closer relationship with our Lord, we will find that all the other things we have been striving to gain and struggling to keep, are taken care of by the Lord.

All Great Civilizations Die From Moral Decay

All Great Civilizations Die From Moral Decay

As I have looked back across the ruins and landmarks of antiquity, I have been stunned by the parallels between those societies and our own. For most of us the destruction of Carthage, the rise of the Greek city-states, and the Fall of Rome are mere ghosts of the past, history lessons long forgotten. And such things as the capture of Constantinople, the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire, the collapse of the kingdoms of France and Spain, and the slow withering decline of the British Empire are much less clear and less memorable. Most of us do not remember much from our history lessons about the French Enlightenment or, for that matter, the issues that led to the American Revolution. But this is the legitimate background of our own place in history, it is vital that we reconsider the nature of life in those earlier times. For within those eras and movements are the seeds of the troubles we face today.

Obama is ‘Evolving’ on Homosexual Marriage

Obama is ‘Evolving’ on Homosexual Marriage

President Barack Obama, who has publicly supported civil unions but not same-sex marriage, told a group of bloggers Thursday his position is evolving.

“I am a strong supporter of civil unions. As you say, I have been to this point unwilling to sign on to same-sex marriage primarily because of my understandings of the traditional definitions of marriage,” Obama said.

“But I also think you’re right that attitudes evolve, including mine,” Obama continued. “And I think that it is an issue that I wrestle with and think about because I have a whole host of friends who are in gay partnerships.”

Although he has never signed on to a federal homosexual marriage proposal, Obama campaigned on ending the Defense of Marriage Act — a law that defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman and says one state cannot be required to recognize a homosexual marriage performed in another state.

If DOMA is repealed, it could effectively nationalize same-sex marriage, as, for example, Texas would have to recognize a gay marriage performed in Massachusetts.

The president did imply a sense of inevitability about same-sex marriage: “The one thing I will say today is I think it’s pretty clear where the trendlines are going,” Obama said. He did not elaborate.

Gay Marriage Judge: Children Have No Right to a Mother

Gay Marriage Judge: Children Have No Right to a Mother

U.S. District Judge Vaughn R. Walker, who ruled last week that a voter-approved amendment to California’s constitution that limited marriage to the union of one man and one woman violated the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, based that ruling in part on his finding that a child does not need and has no right to a mother. Nor, he found, does a child have a need or a right to a father. “Children do not need to be raised by a male parent and a female parent to be well-adjusted, and having both a male and a female parent does not increase the likelihood that a child will be well-adjusted,” the judge wrote in finding of fact No. 71 in his opinion. “The gender of a child’s parent is not a factor in a child’s adjustment,” the judge stated in finding of fact No. 70. “The sexual orientation of an individual does not determine whether that individual can be a good parent. Children raised by gay or lesbian parents are as likely as children raised by heterosexual parents to be healthy, successful and well-adjusted. The research supporting this conclusion is accepted beyond serious debate in the field of developmental psychology.”

    Presbyterians to Consider Redefining Marriage

    Presbyterians to Consider Redefining Marriage

MINNEAPOLIS- This week’s General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) will consider redefining marriage to include same-sex couples and allowing ministers to perform same-sex weddings. Carmen Fowler, president of the Presbyterian Lay Committee, believes those sorts of initiatives are to blame for the denomination’s declining membership. Her group supports upholding the church’s traditional definition of marriage. The PCUSA’s newly-elected moderator, Cynthia Bolbach, supports gay marriage but told the assembly on Saturday that the denomination has become paralyzed. Fowler says that’s what happens when a church body becomes disconnected from its head — Jesus Christ.

Pastors Could be Sued for Failure to Perform Same-Sex Marriages

ritish lawmakers have tentatively approved a bill to allow churches to host same-sex marriages, prompting warnings that the measure would be one step from forcing clergy to perform the homosexual ceremonies.
Even the head of the nation’s top homosexual activist group, Ben Summeriskill of Stonewell, is concerned about the implications for churches, according to the Christian Institute.
“Right now, faiths shouldn’t be forced to hold civil partnerships, although in 10 or 20 years, that may change,” he said.
The Christian Institute, a nondenominational Christian charity committed to upholding the truths of the Bible, reported protests already have erupted from Michael Scott-Joynt, the bishop of Winchester.

Pastors Could be Sued if They Refuse to Carry out ‘Gay Marriages

Traditionalist bishops and peers fear that vicars could be taken to court and accused of discrimination if they turn down requests to hold civil partnerships on religious premises.
Their concerns have been raised following a landmark vote by peers that will allow the ceremonies for same-sex couples to be held in places of worship for the first time.
It is also feared that the changes would blur the line further between marriage - which churches say must be between a man and a woman - and civil partnerships.

D.C. Takes Step to Impose Same-Sex ‘Marriage’

WASHINGTON, Dec. 3 /Christian Newswire/ — On Tuesday, the D.C. Council approved a first reading of a bill that would allow same-sex “marriage” in the District of Columbia.

The measure was passed in an 11-2 vote and must be approved in a second vote within two weeks before the bill can be sent to Mayor Adrian M. Fenty for his signature. Fenty has already expressed his support and promised to sign.

Wendy Wright, President of Concerned Women for America, said, “With this decision, the D.C. Council has taken away from the citizens the opportunity to vote on an issue that not only affects the homosexual community but families and charities.

    Keep Your Opinions to Yourself

    Keep Your Opinions to Yourself

Peter Vidala was being harassed at work-subjected, over and over again, to views he found offensive. When he finally spoke up, he was fired.

It’s an illustration of the double standard that often prevails when it comes to same-sex “marriage.”

Vidala was a deputy manager at a Brookstone store in Boston’s Logan Airport. Last August, a manager visiting from another store told Vidala she was planning to “marry” her female partner. Vidala said he “quickly changed the subject.” As a Christian, he considered homosexual behavior immoral, and same-sex “marriage” an “oxymoron.” The woman’s comments made him uncomfortable.
