Help the Desperate People of the Philippines

A heart for those who have lost everything

On November 8, 2013, a massive category 5 Typhoon that some experts are now describing as so massive there is no existing category for such a storm (Category 7?), struck the Philippines with a force unknown at any time in the history of the world. The eye wall of this monster Typhoon was just offshore from Bantayan Island. The government of this Island estimates that 95 percent of the homes were completely destroyed. The number of dead and suffering mounts daily.

At just 6 by 10 miles in size, this tiny Pacific atoll is home to over 130,000 peacefull fishermen. Living in Nipa huts made from the natural coconut trees from the island, the 195 mile per hour peak winds of Super Typhoon Yolanda, also known as “Haiyan,” decimated every native structure on the island.

For the past three years, we have conducted a ministry to the poor of Bantayan Island, Philippines.

Today is Tuesday, November 12, 2013. On Sunday, November 17, we depart for Bantayan Island to truck in food and supplies for the desperate people of the island. Cut off from the world, no electricity will be available for up to 4 months. We received reports two days ago that in the neighborhood where we conduct our outreach to the inhabitants of the island, over 28,000 people are homeless, wandering the streets searching for food and water.

Once we arrive in Cebu, the main island just off the coast of Bantayan Island, we will purchase as much rice, bottled water, clothing, medical supplies, lumber and tin roofing as we can afford to transport back to Bantayan Island.

For the next 4 months we will remain on the island to try and help the residents rebuild their lives and provide the basic needs of as many people as we are able.

If you would like to help these desperate people. this Sunday we depart the United States to bring the people of Bantayan Island the help they need. If you would consider giving any amount, together we can make a difference in the lives of thousands of people who have no hope unless people from the outside world come to their aide. Typhoon Haiyan Damage Bantayan Island

We pray that many will join us in this attempt at rescuing those who have been devastated by this tragedy.

100% of every dollar that is given to help the people of Bantayan Island goes to the people. We do not ever keep any portion of the money given for the people of this island for ourselves or our ministry. We are privately funded for our own personal needs and transportation. Even the Red Cross retains from 20-30 percent of all donations for administrative operating costs. We are able to transmit 100% of all the money given for aide to the Philippines, directly to the people. We are United States Citizens who live on this Island and speak the local language, living amongst the people of the island ourselves, we have contacts and knowledge of how to best help those affected by this devastation.

Thank You in advance for your compassion and caring hearts,

Pastor Rob and Marissa Robinson
