    Flowing through the city of God, from the throne of God, the spring from which this crystal clear stream flows. The river of life and on either side the tree of life. Now, back in the Book of Genesis when God placed Adam and Eve in the garden, there were many different trees. All kinds of fruit trees from which they could freely eat. There was a tree that was known as the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. And God had warned them not to eat of that tree, that the fruit of it was deadly. There was another tree in the garden, and the fruit of that tree seemed to have an antidote for the tree of death, or the poisonous tree, so that man had a choice. A choice of all of the trees, but basically the tree of death and the tree of life. It is fascinating to me that with that choice man would choose to eat of the tree of death. And when he did God banished him from this garden, put the cherubim, you remember, at the gate of the garden to prohibit man from returning into the garden and eating of the tree of life and living forever in that sinful state, the state of rebellion against the commandment of God.

    There is the law of thermodynamics and the law of entropy and even the universe is subject to the laws of thermodynamics and entropy. So that the scientist, Sir Herschel Jeans, described the earth as a great clock that had been wound up and is slowly running down. The sun gives off some one million two hundred tons of mass every second, but because of the size of the sun you don’t have to go home and worry that the sun is going to go out for a while. I heard of a lecture that was being given in an astronomy class where the professor said because of the sun’s being reduced at this tremendous rate, in another ten billion years there will not be enough energy from the sun to support life upon the earth. And one half-sleeping student just came to attention and he said, what did you say? And he said, I said in ten billion years the sun will no longer be able to support life upon the earth. And he said, oh, I thought you said ten million.

    We’ve mentioned that this bottomless pit in the Greek is abusso, which literally means shaft. And it would seem from the Scriptures that this is the place where angelic-kind of beings are incarcerated. We read that the beast, the Antichrist, will come out of the abusso, chapter 17 of the Book of Revelation. When Jesus was at Gadera and met by the demon possessed man, the demons begged Jesus that he would not send them to the abusso before their time. It is interesting that Satan will be bound and placed into the abusso, the angels coming down from heaven having the key to the abusso, or the bottomless pit, a great chain in his hand. Back in the 9th chapter of the Book of Revelation, there was another angel, a star it was called, fall from heaven having this key to the abusso. When he opened it, the earth was invaded by demonic hoards that created great havoc upon the earth. Demons were turned loose out of the abusso back in chapter nine

    Now, when John wrote the Book of Revelation, chapter 1:19, he was commanded to write the things which he saw, the things which are and the things which will be after these things. So in chapter one he wrote the vision, that which he saw. Chapter two and three, he wrote of the things of the ministry of the church on the earth. Chapter four begins with the words “after these things.” It was there after the church things that John was taken into heaven and he beheld the heavenly scene in Chapters four and five. Then we came back to the earth. We saw the judgments of God, Chapters six through eighteen as God poured out His judgments, His wrath upon a Christ rejecting, God hating, sinful world.     Now we come into the judgment of God upon a second evil. False religion has destroyed so many lives. So many people are destroyed by false religion. Lives and people are destroyed by the commercialism, the enslaving of the souls of men in the commercialism of the world. Again, Babylon was the birthplace for commercialism. The first banks and all were established in Babylon and the heart and the seat of commercialism in the early years, and thus, it again is identified as Babylon but only because of the commercial center that Babylon once was. The Babylon of Chapter 18, I believe, will be the city where commercialism is centered in the time of the Antichrist.

    Shortly after the flood when Noah and his family came out of the ark, they first settled in the Babylonian plain. And there the son of Ham, whose name is Cush, had a son by the name of Nimrod who was called a mighty hunter before the Lord. That, before the Lord, is actually against the Lord. He was a rebel against God. And now we are just a very short time after the flood, but this false religious system under Nimrod began there in Babylon. It developed through the years. His mother, Semiramis, was later called the queen of heaven. He was deified and was called Tammuz. And you have your ancient mystery Babylon religion born—the worship of the mother, the queen of heaven, and her son, Tammuz.

And thus it is difficult for our western minds to follow many times the events of the Book of Revelation because when we read a book, it usually is following a chronological order. That is not so in Hebrew literature. For instance in Genesis chapter one, you have God’s account of the seven days of creation. And in chapter two, then it goes back and it fills you in on the creation of man and it gives you a broader perspective. It gives you more details. Often the Bible does that. It lays out the full scene and then it will come back and it will fill in some of the more minute types of details.

    Bible Study: Revelation 14

    Bible Study: Revelation 14

    I think that when some of the state senators call on us to call for a day of fasting and prayer that we should respond. And I would like this Wednesday to become a day of fasting and prayer as we seek the Lord to get hold of the hearts and the minds of those who are in the legislative powers in our state and that these bills that could endanger the church tremendously will be defeated by the assembly. And so we would like to respond to the request of these senators by calling the church to fasting and prayer this Wednesday. And let’s pray that God will allow righteousness to come to the floor and that these evil bills that are being pushed by the gay and homosexual agendas will be defeated and will not become the law of the state of California. So Wednesday join with us in fasting and in prayer that God will defeat these godless bills.

    Daniel 7:3 says, “And four great beasts came up from the sea, that were diverse one from another.” Or from the nations, there are four that rise up that are diverse from each other. Verse seven of Daniel 7, he said, “After this I saw in the night visions, and behold the fourth beast was dreadful and awesome. He was exceedingly strong; he had great iron teeth: it devoured and broke in pieces, and stamped the residue of the empires with its feet: it was diverse from the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns. I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things” (Daniel 7:7,8).

    There appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head was a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, as she was travailing in birth, and was in pain to be delivered (12:1,2).

    The woman is the nation of Israel. There are those who say the woman is the church but not so. In the Book of Genesis, we are told of Joseph’s dream that he had. The first dream was he and his brothers were binding their sheaves, the sheaves of grain, and his brothers’ sheaves bowed down to his. They already were jealous of him because of his father’s attention and that didn’t help the situation. And then Joseph had another dream and this dream even upset his father.

    Now a rod was a measuring stick. It was about nine feet long. A rod was six cubits; a cubit is about 17 to 18 inches. A cubit is the distance between your elbow and your middle finger. About 17, 18 inches, and six of those made up a rod. So they would take these bamboo sticks that were straight and they would cut them at the six cubits, which made the measuring rods nine feet. They were used much like our measuring tapes today. But they were just the sticks, and they would lay them out. The rod or the span was the distance between your thumb and little finger. They didn’t have the Stanley rulers in those days, so they made do with what they had. So John was given this reed that was like a rod,

    and the angel stood, and said, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the alter, and those that worship therein. (11:1b

    Bible Study: Revelation 10

    Bible Study: Revelation 10

    Now, we are in the midst of the seven angels that stand in the presence of God who are given trumpets to sound and with the trumpets there come corresponding judgments of God upon the earth. But this is a separate angel from them and he is called a mighty angel. Now, the word angel is a title of an office. It is not speaking of a nature. Jesus is referred to in the Old Testament many times as the Angel of the Lord. The ministers of the seven churches that are addressed in the Book of Revelation are called the angels of the churches. That is because the Greek word translated angel means messenger. It can be a divine messenger. It can be a human messenger. Usually the name is a reference to those spirit beings created by God, numbering into the millions, that worship the Lord and that are serving Him; but if you are a messenger of God, the word “angel” would apply to you. I believe that this mighty angel because of his description is none other than Jesus Christ.

    The ninth chapter actually begins with the thirteenth verse of the eighth chapter. After the “sounding of the fourth trumpet and the sun darkened and the moon and the stars, I beheld, in verse thirteen, and I heard an angel”—the word there in the Greek is aetos which is an eagle—flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabitants of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound” (Revelation 8:12,13)! Basically the message is, You haven’t seen anything yet! “Woe, woe, woe.” There are three trumpets, thus three woes in these trumpet judgments, which are yet to sound.

    Bible Study: Revelation 8

    We had in chapter six the opening of the first six seals of the scroll. After the opening of the sixth seal, we have the seventh chapter, which is sort of parenthetical. It gives you further information of the events that took place in the opening of the six seals. As we get into chapters eight and nine, we will be looking at the trumpet judgments, the seven trumpet judgments. So you have the six seals. Or actually we’ll be looking at six of the seven. You have the six seals and then you have the explanation. Then you will have the six trumpet judgments and then comes another chapter ten, parenthetical explanation. And then you will have there in a few chapters of the parenthetical explanations and it will take the seventh trumpet and then out of the seven come the seven personages. But it follows this pattern through the book. Taking six of the sevens and after the sixth ones, giving sort of a summary of the events and amplifying some of the aspects of it. And then goes on to the seventh and what comes out of the seventh. We now come to the seventh seal in verse one

    As we enter into chapter seven, we enter in to a parenthetical portion. We’re coming back now to times within this span of the first six seals. The things that will be happening when He opens the first six seals as we studied last Sunday night and now in chapter seven, he’s going to fill in some of the details and deal with a couple of groups here in chapter seven.

    So after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree (7:1).

    Bible Study: Revelation 6

    Beginning in the fourth chapter of the book of Revelation, we do enter into future events. But there’s a vast difference in the future and it all is related to your relationship with Jesus Christ. For the believers, there is a glorious future ahead! For the unbelievers, there is real trouble ahead, big trouble! And we looked at the believers’ future in the last study last Sunday night on the fifth chapter of Revelation. Tonight we begin to deal with the issues that will happen here on the earth when the Lord takes His church out. We were in heaven with the church last Sunday night. Tonight we come back to the earth after the church is gone and the events that are going to happen here on the earth once the Lord has removed His church.

    Bible Study: Revelation 5

    Bible Study: Revelation 5

    Back now in the book of Revelation chapter five. John is in heaven. He observes the throne of God. That’s the first thing that captures his attention is the throne of God. The glory of the throne of God and Him who sits upon the throne. He observes the cherubim about the throne of God as they are worshipping God. And then he watches the twenty-four elders respond to the worship of the cherubim as they fall on their faces before the throne, taking their golden crowns, casting them on the glassy sea. As they declare the worthiness of God to receive the glory and the honor and the power ascribed to Him by the cherubim.
