    Thankful To Whom, For What?

    Thankful To Whom, For What?

    Next week, Americans once again have the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends. Personally, I appreciate what Thanksgiving means this year, above all other years. I find myself over 10,000 miles away from the United States in a foreign country, serving the Lord in Ministry in the Philippines. This is the first time in my 55 years that I have not been able to be home for Thanksgiving and I feel the loss deep within my heart. It is when we suffer the loss of those things we hold dear, that the true meaning of their worth is realized.

    For most Americans, Thanksgiving is an opportunity to be reunited with family and friends who we don’t get to see as often as we would like. We will overeat, fall asleep on the couch and then eat some more. Football will be on the big screens of some homes. Early Christmas movies will light the screens of others. We will hug and smile and feel the warmth of loved ones while the crisp air outside bites against the window.

    America and the Prophecies of the Last Days

    There has been a pattern developing over the course of the past few years that indicates that events around the world are centered on the United States.

    Uprising in Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain, Tunisia, Jordan, Libya, with more to come. Global spikes in oil prices. Attacks on Americans in Germany, off the coast of Somalia, across Europe, the Philippines and Asia.

    All these events have one overwhelming target: America and Americans.

    Is it just a coincidence that all of the global uprisings and conflicts seem to be centered on the United States? A hatred by the people in these nations for regimes that our government gave billions of dollars to support, who have cruel and oppressive dictators as their leaders.

    Some who study Bible prophecy indicate that the United States’ unwillingness to return to God and the elimination of God from our schools, government and families has caused the Lord to begin to do in America, what He has done in Israel.

    I watched with great interest the president’s speech this morning on rebuilding the economic prosperity of America. It was a great and inspiring speech and contained many important and relevant facts that inspired me and is the reason that I am writing this post.

    The key element of President Obama’s speech that was missing was the fact that America has been blessed by God in her past history because the citizens of this great land have honored and worshipped the God of the Bible.

    The founders of our nation stated that it was impossible that this land could have come into existence if God had not willed it to be. The reason for our past prosperity and global standing as the most wealthy and powerful nation on the earth is because as a people, we have in the past honored God.

    Stealth Computer Virus Disables Iran’s Reactor’s

    In the 20th century, this would have been a job for James Bond.

    The mission: Infiltrate the highly advanced, securely guarded enemy headquarters where scientists in the clutches of an evil master are secretly building a weapon that can destroy the world. Then render that weapon harmless and escape undetected.

    But in the 21st century, Bond doesn’t get the call. Instead, the job is handled by a suave and very sophisticated secret computer worm, a jumble of code called Stuxnet, which in the last year has not only crippled Iran’s nuclear program but has caused a major rethinking of computer security around the globe.

    Intelligence agencies, computer security companies and the nuclear industry have been trying to analyze the worm since it was discovered in June by a Belarus-based company that was doing business in Iran. And what they’ve all found, says Sean McGurk, the Homeland Security Department’s acting director of national cyber security and communications integration, is a “game changer.”

    The construction of the worm was so advanced, it was “like the arrival of an F-35 into aWorld War I battlefield,” says Ralph Langner, the computer expert who was the first to sound the alarm about Stuxnet. Others have called it the first “weaponized” computer virus.

    Simply put, Stuxnet is an incredibly advanced, undetectable computer worm that took years to construct and was designed to jump from computer to computer until it found the specific, protected control system that it aimed to destroy: Iran’s nuclear enrichment program.

    The target was seemingly impenetrable; for security reasons, it lay several stories underground and was not connected to the World Wide Web. And that meant Stuxnet had to act as sort of a computer cruise missile: As it made its passage through a set of unconnected computers, it had to grow and adapt to security measures and other changes until it reached one that could bring it into the nuclear facility.

    Egyptian Uprising Was Planned by U.S. Government

    Persistent claims were heard Saturday, Jan. 29 in various Egyptian and informed western circles that the popular uprising against president Hosni Mubarak, still going strong on its fifth day, was secretly prepared three years ago in Washington during the Bush administration.

    Saturday morning, people rage across Egypt gathered steam from Mubarak’s speech after midnight, in which he declined to step down. After defying the night curfew, tens of thousands of protesters, estimated at 50,000, crowded into central Cairo’s Tahrir Square and began marching on the state TV building, calling on the soldiers in tanks ranged quietly around the square to oust the president. They shouted that the people and army were one.

    Law and order is breaking down in Egypt’s cities. In Cairo looters are roaming through shops and smoldering public buildings and seizing empty residences. Rioting inmates are confronting armed warders and getting shot in Egypt’s biggest prisons. Political prisoners are escaping.

    In defiance of the extended nationwide curfew, fierce clashes also erupted in Alexandria, Suez, Ismailia, Rafah and El Arish, with security forces firing live ammunition on surging protesters. By the afternoon, 100 people were dead and 2,000 injured across the country. The death toll Friday was estimated at 74 and more than a thousand wounded.

    In Cairo, the hated Mahabharat security forces vanished off the main streets after failing to quell four days of protests. The military tanks and infantry units posted at strategic points in the capital have so far not fired a shot or interfered in the clashes. But the Interior Ministry’s elite security force fired live ammo on demonstrators attempting to storm the building.

    The London Daily Telegraph headlined a story Saturday, apparently confirming confidential US documents released by WikiLeaks, which claimed that since 2008, the American government had secretly backed leading figures behind the uprising for “regime change.”

    In 2009,WND documentedthat Obama and his supporters had first claimed he was born at Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, before the story changed to Kapi’olani Medical Center in Honolulu.

    AfterWND’s report on the two conflicting hospitals, online news sites including the United Press International and Snopes.com scrubbed their websites to eliminate any reference to Queens Medical Center, substituting instead that Obama was born at Kapi’olani Medical Center without explaining the discrepancy or the correction.

    As WND reported, the letter read by Abercrombie and initially displayed on the Kapi’olani website turned out to be a computer-created likeness of a letter using HTML code, the building blocks of Internet websites, not an actual paper letter.In 2010, then-candidate for governor Neil Abercrombiewas involved in an Obama birth controversywhen he read a letter at a Kapi’olani Medical Center centennial dinner in Honolulu that supposedly was authored by President Obama, claiming Kapi’olani as his birth hospital.

    The White House has still not confirmed it wrote or sent the letter.

    Moreover, Adams claims, the Hawaii government was engaged in a cover-up designed to tell the American public through the Obama-supporting mainstream media that Obama was born in Hawaii, even though no long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Obama could be found on record in the Hawaii Department of Health.

    In the affidavit Adams swears, “During the course of my employment, I came to understand that for political reasons, various officials in the government of Hawaii, including then-Governor Linda Lingle and various officials of the Hawaii Department of Health, including Dr. Chiyome Fukino, the director of the Hawaii Department of Health, were making representations that Senator Obama was born in Hawaii, even though no government official in Hawaii could find a long-form birth certificate for Senator Obama that had been issued by a Hawaii hospital at the time of his birth.”

    Russia’s new SS-18, code named “Satan” by NATO, is capable of delivering 10 Nuclear warheads with a range of almost 10,000 miles.

    Just one SS-18 Missile is up to 500 times more powerful than any of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during world war 2.

    Even more terrifying is the fact that all of the current U.S Missile Shields are not capable of stopping the technology that delivers this powerful weapon.

    “This applies in the fullest sense to the USA’s anti-missile defence system and to Nato’s (planned) European missile defence system,” said Artur Usenkov.

    Experts estimate that Russia currently has between 60 and 90 missile silo launchers hidden across the countryside of Russia. Only a direct hit from a thermonuclear weapon is capable of destroying one of these missile silo’s.

    Russia and the United States have been negotiating a new Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty. Both countries were stating that they wanted to cut their spending for nuclear missile systems. No doubt this latest missile technology will required the U.S to answer with a greater system to stop such missile attacks, as well as a new long range Intercontinental Ballistic Missile systems.

    The Prime Minister of Britain often spent the night reading his Bible before making the really big decisions during his term in office.

    Alastair Campbell was the press secretary for Tony Blair during his term in office. He recorded in his diaries that on the night before the bombing of Iraq, Tony Blair had second thoughts after reading the story of King Herod and John the Baptist in the New Testament.

    In the story of John the Baptist, Herod was unduly influenced by others in making the decision to execute John the Baptist. In the last part of Mark chapter 6: verse 26 the scripture records that “The King was exceedingly sorry (For his decision) yet because of the oaths (He went ahead and carried out the execution).

    The Christian Church is Making Atheists

    The population of Atheists and Agnostic’s is increasing at a rapid rate. The source of this increase; the Christian Church.

    Concerning the Last Days Jesus asked when He returned to earth, “Will He really find faith on the earth?”

    Luke 18:8 “I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”

    The reason that the church is turning out so many unbelievers is because people are not finding an intellectual and spiritual reason for believing the Bible and in Jesus Christ. Pastors and teachers in the church no longer keep the former diligence of studying and teaching through the entire Bible. Many pastors do not believe that all of the Bible is the Word of God, so they feel no urgency teach it to their congregations. If you go to a church where you receive weekly topical studies without much scriptural reference, then you go to a church where your pastor does not understand the importance of the Bible.

    The fact that the Bible contains such a large percentage of Prophecy gives indication that the Holy Spirit must place great importance on learning, understanding and teaching prophecy to others. When a person understands that God spoke of things well in advance of their occurrence, it it going to affect how they view the Bible. If the Bible contains thousands of prophetic predictions in which the large majority of these have already been perfectly fulfilled with one hundred percent accuracy, a person is going to take notice that this must be the Word of God. Only the Bible can boast of a record of fulfilled predictions with perfect accuracy. No other book or publication in existence can boast of that kind of record of perfection.

    National Debt Reaches 14 Trillion

    National Debt Reaches 14 Trillion

    For the first time in history, the United States national debt has reached 14,025,215,218,708.52. That is 14 Trillion!

    Just seven months ago the National debt was 13 Trillion dollars. Within days the statutory limit set by the Obama administration for the debt ceiling will be at 14.294 Trillion. At that point the Federal government cannot borrow any more money and could default on it’s former obligations.

    If the Federal Government of the United States should default on any loan as a result of this, it would be the first time in history this has happened.

    If you and I reach our limit on how much we can borrow, we have to stop borrowing. We then cannot spend more than we have earned. This is not true for our Federal Government. When they reach their limit they simply print more money and keep on spending. Over the past 50 years, the Federal government has gone past their budget limit 44 times.

    The Federal Government sells U.S. Treasury bills which are really I.O.U’s that are used to pay off the money that it has borrowed. If the debt limit is enforced and we cannot issue any more Treasure bills/I.O.U.’s to ourself, then the government will cease to function.

    That is how serious our situation is and how close we are to National bankruptcy.

    The Danger of Following Jesus

    While I write this article the sound of roosters crowing echo with the voices of children singing Christmas songs nearby. The Barangay where I am living with my wife’s family in Talisay is a peaceful place even though it is filled with much activity.

    The people of the Philippines are a gentle and peaceful people. They treasure the joys of being with their family members on a Sunday outing to the beach, or an afternoon of laughter around the songs they sing in their living rooms.

    Not far from the peace and serenity of a simple life, Al Qaeda lurks nearby. In the southern part of the 7,200 islands of the Philippines there is an evil that threatens the way of life that Filipino’s love. An evil that does not care for family, the love that is felt and shared, nor the simplicity of a humble and loving people.

    Those demonically inspired men who have turned other quiet neighborhoods of the world into war zones would like nothing better than to bring their brand of terror to all the streets of these peaceful islands. The people of the Philippines will not have it here though. They fight hard against the efforts of these selfish men. Brave soldiers and private citizens die for freedom from evil, just as Americans have died for their freedom in past and current battles. I pray that my amigo’s here continue to be successful in eradicating Al Qaeda from every corner of this lovely place.

    If you’ve ever “fought the good fight” or chuckled at “what comes out of the mouths of babes,” you just might agree with him.

    Phrases with roots in the King James Bible are everywhere. Crystal tells NPR’s Neal Conan that writing Begat began with his curiosity about a simple question: How many English language idioms come from the King James Bible? When Crystal posed this question to people, they guessed a wide range of answers — anywhere from 50 to 1,000. So he decided he’d better read the Bible and figure it out.

    “I went through it and looked for every instance of an expression that I thought was current in modern English,” Crystal says. “And then I thought: I’d better read it again, just to make sure I haven’t missed any.” And after that second reading, he had a figure.

    “I found 257,” Crystal reports. He acknowledges that there’s “no magic in that figure” and that someone else could read through the Bible and come up with a different number entirely. Still, he thinks that 257 is about right. And “it makes the point that it isn’t as high a figure as some people expect. On the other hand, it’s twice the number that Shakespeare introduced, so it’s not doing badly.”

    This year Marissa and I have had the privilege of celebrating Christmas with our family in Cebu, Philippines. The anniversary of Jesus birth is a very big event here indeed. If you think the Christmas decorations and music start too soon in the United States, you will be amazed to see trees, lights and music playing the old familiar yule tide joy beginning in September here amongst these 7,200 Islands.

    The Effects of Salvation: A Tender Heart

    Yesterday my wife and I went with a few family members to the local mall here in the Philippines. It is a stark contrast to this culture that they have such beautiful and modern malls in the midst of so much poverty. As our car passed along the crowded city streets, there were many souls lying on cardboard mats near stone walls, completely exposed to the rain, polution and in full view of the thousands of cars that pass by.

    A man at the entrance to a side street, hails a taxi for two pedestrians walking towards him. He has become an entrepreneur by finding a job for himself hailing cabs for those looking for transportation. Only a few that he assists will pay him perhaps one or two pesos for his efforts, but none the less, he has acquired a job for himself.

    A darkly soiled, and slightly bent over man sits beside the road with his dirty feet, matted hair and disheveled presence going unnoticed to the passers by. No one cares that he has not eaten in days, nor has anyone embraced him or told him they love him for years.

    Preaching Against Homosexuality is Now a Hate Crime

    The Southern Poverty Law Center this week labeled as “hate groups” several political and religious organizations that campaign against same-sex marriage and, the center says, engage in “repeated, groundless name-calling” against gays and lesbians.

    Included on the list released by the civil rights organization is the Family Research Council, a prominent and politically influential group of social conservatives. The report by the law center, which has spent four decades tracking extremist groups and hate speech, accuses the council and a dozen other groups of putting out “demonizing propaganda aimed at homosexuals and other sexual minorities.”

    The report, which has sparked debate across the Internet, taps into the continuing potency of social issues, such as same-sex marriage, in American politics. Several of the groups described in the report supported a successful effort to oust state Supreme Court judges in Iowa because of a unanimous ruling last year that legalized same-sex unions.

    The Family Research Council has been at the forefront of political activism against same-sex marriage. In explaining the decision to put the council on its hate-groups list, the law center highlighted comments by Peter Sprigg, a senior fellow for policy studies at the council, who told MSNBC host Chris Matthews this year that he thinks “homosexual behavior” should be outlawed.

    Signs of War: North Korea Recalls Workers World-Wide

    A mass exodus of North Korean workers from the Far East of Russia is under way, according to reports coming out of the region. As the two Koreas edged towards the brink of war this week, it appears that the workers in Russia have been called back to aid potential military operations.

    Vladnews agency, based in Vladivostok, reported that North Korean workers had left the town of Nakhodka en masse shortly after the escalation of tension on the Korean peninsula earlier this week. “Traders have left the kiosks and markets, workers have abandoned building sites, and North Korean secret service employees working in the region have joined them and left,” the agency reported.

    Russia’s migration service said that there were over 20,000 North Koreans in Russia at the beginning of 2010, of which the vast majority worked in construction. The workers are usually chaperoned by agents from Kim Jong-il’s security services and have little contact with the world around them. Defectors have suggested that the labourers work 13-hour days and that most of their pay is sent back to the government in Pyongyang. Hundreds of workers have fled the harsh conditions and live in hiding in Russia, constantly in fear of being deported back to North Korea.

    Wars and Rumors of Wars

    Wars and Rumors of Wars

    As the possibility of war hovers over North and South Korea, the world wonders if this conflict will lead to a nuclear exchange and draw other countries into a battle.

    For those who study current events and seek to place them in the correct context of Bible Prophecy, the aggression by North Korea is of great interest. The arrival of the USS George Washington Supercarrier battle group in Korean waters, contains enough firepower to destroy North Korea in just a few hours.

    How concerned should we be? Is this event a sign that the return of the Lord is near? When Jesus was describing the events of the last days that would precede His return, He described world-wide wars as “The Beginning of Sorrows”:

    Matthew 24:6 “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.”

    In the last 3,000 years of recorded history there has only been 286 years without a war. In fact in the last 3,000 years, there have been over 15,000 wars resulting in 4 billion deaths.
