Peter wrote that in the last days people would begin to say that Jesus is delayed in His coming, or that He will not return at all. As we approach the day of the Lord’s return, it will be a sign to us all that the hearts of people will have grown cold towards spiritual matters and the thoughts of Jesus return will be farther and farther from their minds.
2 Peter 3:3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”
Jesus warned that it is in the heart that a person first begins to conceive the idea that His return is delayed.
Luke 12:42-46 And the Lord said, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has. But if that servant says in his heart, “My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
The promise by Jesus is to make the servant who has been watching for His return, “Ruler over all that He has”. Whereas the ones who begin to think in their heart that Jesus return is not going to happen or is delayed, that servant is in danger of returning to their old lifestyle and then being appointed a place with the unbeliever when Jesus does return.
It is in our heart that we first begin to consider whether Jesus return is going to happen or not. It is a matter of great importance that we daily remember that Jesus could come for us at any moment. Daily we must renew that hope of His return and do so by the reading of His word where He promises to come for us again.
John 14:1-6 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Jesus has gone to prepare a place for you, and when everything is ready He will be returning to get you and then return you to the home He has been preparing for you for 2,000 years. Then Jesus reminds us that He is the way to that home and there is no other. Let us remember Jesus promise to us today and lift up our eyes once again and scan the horizon for the signs of His return. He will be coming for us soon, let us be vigilant to watch for Him and to guard our hearts to prevent any doubt from beginning there.
May the Lord bless your day as you watch and wait for Him and continue to tell everyone that Jesus is coming soon for all those who Love Him.

This is such an immensely important message, but stated so simply and plainly that anyone can understand it, and is also supported by verses. It is an easy way to remember what we are all waiting for.
