There is a verse of scripture in the text of Ezekiel chapter 38 where a group of nations come to attack Israel during the last days. This event will happen either just prior to the Rapture of the Church or shortly thereafter.
Surprisingly the nations around the world that witness this action, do little more than make a public ridicule. Even more interesting are the nations of today that are represented by these lands mentioned in Ezekiel 38:10-13.
Ezekiel 38:10 “Thus says the Lord GOD: ‘On that day it shall come to pass that thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will make an evil plan: 11 You will say, “I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’- 12 to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited, and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell in the midst of the land. 13 Sheba, Dedan, the merchants of Tarshish, and all their young lions will say to you, “Have you come to take plunder? Have you gathered your army to take booty, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to take great plunder?’ ” ‘
When these nations come up against Israel in the last days, amongst them are:
Sheba and Dedan: The present nation of Saudi Arabia.
The merchants of Tarshish: England and Spain.
Their Young Lions: The United States of America.
Ezekiel states that the only action that these nations take when Israel is surrounded and invaded, is to make the statement: “Have you come to take plunder? Have you gathered your army to take booty, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to take great plunder?”
As I watched the news briefing by president Obama this morning, I was struck by his lack of response to the recent violent actions Muammar Gaddafi has carried out against his own people in Libya.
President Obama stated that Gaddafi’s actions were “Totally unacceptable” and condemned the violence in Libya, but maintained a completely benign response in taking any physical action against Libya.
President Obama’s lack of action towards Muammar Gaddafi is virtually identical to that of the Young Lions of Ezekiel 38. In fact, Obama’s reaction to the uprising in Egypt was identical to that of Ezekiel 38, in that he made statements of condemnation but took no physical action or intervention other than to voice public protest.
This interesting parallel lends itself to the question: Is the final United States President in office at the battle of Ezekiel 38 and the subsequent Rapture of the church, Barack Obama?
If this be the case, then it certainly sheds new light on the timing of the coming of Jesus at the Rapture. If this theory holds, we may be closer to the event of the Rapture of the Church than any of us could have imagined.
