The Christian Church is Making Atheists

The population of Atheists and Agnostic’s is increasing at a rapid rate. The source of this increase; the Christian Church.

Concerning the Last Days Jesus asked when He returned to earth, “Will He really find faith on the earth?”

Luke 18:8 “I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”

The reason that the church is turning out so many unbelievers is because people are not finding an intellectual and spiritual reason for believing the Bible and in Jesus Christ. Pastors and teachers in the church no longer keep the former diligence of studying and teaching through the entire Bible. Many pastors do not believe that all of the Bible is the Word of God, so they feel no urgency teach it to their congregations. If you go to a church where you receive weekly topical studies without much scriptural reference, then you go to a church where your pastor does not understand the importance of the Bible.

The fact that the Bible contains such a large percentage of Prophecy gives indication that the Holy Spirit must place great importance on learning, understanding and teaching prophecy to others. When a person understands that God spoke of things well in advance of their occurrence, it it going to affect how they view the Bible. If the Bible contains thousands of prophetic predictions in which the large majority of these have already been perfectly fulfilled with one hundred percent accuracy, a person is going to take notice that this must be the Word of God. Only the Bible can boast of a record of fulfilled predictions with perfect accuracy. No other book or publication in existence can boast of that kind of record of perfection.

If God knows what is going to happen in the future and has absolute control over every event in human history, past, present, and future, then He is able to control my life and yours. The lack of feeling in control of anything and receiving no answers from the church with regard to the deepest questions of the human mind is why people leave the church as Atheists and Agnostics.

It is a fact that the human heart cannot believe what the human mind cannot understand. The church has made the mistake for decades of telling people that they must simply “believe” without giving them an intellectual reason for why they should believe. At no time has God ever asked a man or woman to just believe Him without offering the intellectual evidence to support His claims.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the best documented event in all of human history, yet the church is failing to make the fact of Jesus resurrection a major proof of why the Bible is true and Jesus is God and Savior. Jesus hung everything that he claimed about Himself on the fact of His resurrection. All of the people He healed and told that their sins were forgiven had it’s basis on the fact that when He was crucified, in three days He would raise Himself from the dead. If Jesus had not raised Himself from the dead on the third day, then no one need take any notice of Him or anything that He had said.

Today when a person goes to a Christian church, many times they hear about everything else except what God has to say as He recorded it in the Bible. You can learn about how to prosper and be in good health. You can hear about activism against government abuses. You can learn how to loose weight and feel better about yourself. You cannot however, learn about how God caused the entire world to observe a Roman Census just so that God could get Joseph back to his home town of Bethlehem so that the Word of God Could be fulfilled and Jesus could be born there.

The teaching of the Book of Revelation is almost non existent in most of the churches in America today. When was the last time that your pastor taught you and your congregation verse by verse through the entire Book of Revelation? Other than a few references from Revelation, most pastors and teachers do not attempt to teach it to the body of Christ. They do not know it or understand it themselves so how can they teach it to anyone. I do not say this in criticism or condemnation, but in encouragement for pastors to start doing the right thing by giving the people all of the Word of God and less of the word of man. If your pastor has not ever taught you and your church through the whole Book of Revelation, encourage him to learn it and teach it to the congregation.

I am convinced after having taught through Revelation 16 times to my own two churches where I pastored, that this one effort by pastors would turn out more intellectually sound Christians. Teaching through the Book of Revelation causes a pastor and the congregation to study the entire Bible. The Holy Spirit assumes that by the time you have arrived at the last book in the Bible, you have read the other 65 books. In order to understand the Book of Revelation you must have a good working knowledge of the rest of the Bible.

What happens when you undertake a sincere study of Revelation is that you must take time to go back and look at all of the scriptural references made in Revelation that come from other places in the Bible. This forces a person to learn the whole Bible while they are learning the last book in the Bible.

If the church would get back to teaching the entire Word of God, including prophecy and the Book of Revelation, then it would be turning out strong believers and not Atheist and Agnostics.
