On Wednesday, the United States stock market plummeted 389 point, or a 3.2% drop in value, after recent news of Europe’s financial crisis was announced. Italy, one of the largest economies in Europe, is also experiencing major debt problems, adding to the list of other European nations in major financial difficulties.
According to experts, Italy has a public debt of over 2.5 Trillion, or 120 percent of their Gross Domestic Product. There is wide spread fear that Italy will also not be able to meet their financial commitments. Greece, Ireland and Portugal have already experienced similar financial problems, thought their economies are much smaller.
Italy is a major player in the European economy because so many different banks hold’s their debt, and because their debt level is so high. All of the combined abilities of banks in Europe, do not have the capacity to bail out Italy from her debt pinnacle , making for a frightening scenario in the future.
In order for the world ruler described by the Bibles as “The Beast” or “Antichrist” to be able to assume world power very quickly at the beginning of the seven year tribulation, there must be a global financial crisis in place. It is impossible that anyone could rise to the power and prominence that the beast could ascend to so quickly, were it not for a tremendous need for a financial “savior” in Europe and the U.S.
This new “King”, or world leader, will assume power by his financial prowess and ability to rescue the financial markets of the world, bringing stability to all nations. Upon this foundation, he will build a great military force that will bring all the nations of the world against Israel, and the returning King of Kings, Jesus Christ, at the end of the seven year Tribulation. Daniel wrote of the personality and agenda of this new king that will rescue the world, first by peace, then quickly thereafter by force:
Daniel 11:36-39 “Then the king shall do according to his own will: he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done. He shall regard neither the God of his fathers nor the desire of women, nor regard any god; for he shall exalt himself above them all. But in their place he shall honor a god of fortresses; and a god which his fathers did not know he shall honor with gold and silver, with precious stones and pleasant things. Thus he shall act against the strongest fortresses with a foreign god, which he shall acknowledge, and advance its glory; and he shall cause them to rule over many, and divide the land for gain.”
The world is being prepared at this very moment for the coming of this one called “the beast”. As we witness the collapse of the United States and European economies, we are reminded of the words of Jesus in the book of Luke:
Luke 21:31 So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near.
