Prophecy: The Curse Has Been Removed

Prophecy: The Curse Has Been Removed

The Bible is clear that all men since Adam are under a curse. From the moment that Adam disobeyed God, he was under the judgment of sin and death. Because all men are descended from Adam, all human beings have inherited this curse.

We are not sinners because we sin, we sin because we are sinners.

The propensity towards sin comes from the fact that we are inherently flawed in our basic spiritual DNA. We commit sin because that is what we do best. It is not really possible for any human being to not sin. Although we may try very hard to be a better person, at some point we will always fail. This is true for those who do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, as well as those who do.

The advantage that a person who has come into a relationship with Jesus possesses, is that Jesus is now dwelling within us, giving us the power to overcome sin. Before a person comes into a relationship with the Lord, the Bible describes this person as being “slaves” to sin. After we come into this new relationship with Jesus we can become slaves to righteousness.

  • On Making New Year’s Resolutions

    On Making New Year’s Resolutions

Paul said that he really wants to do right things. The problem was that when he sets out to do them he found that it was nearly impossible for him to perform them. Paul said that it was the sin that was dwelling within his heart that prevented him from keeping his resolutions.

Since it is so hard to keep our New Year’s Resolutions should we just not make any resolutions at all? Even if we did whatever we wanted to do, many of us have already have tried, that and it made us even more miserable that if we tried not to do them and failed.

The answer is to go ahead and make the resolutions, and determine to do them. Then pray and ask the Holy Spirit to enable us to perform all of our good intentions. Then when we fail, we repent and get back up and try again. We continue to try and be better, with the help of the Holy Spirit, for the rest of our life. Over the course of time we will get better at overcoming sin and temptation. Eventually some of the most troublesome sins will fall away. (only to come back when you least expect them).

Being Set Apart For the Lord is a Lifelong Process

Being Set Apart For the Lord is a Lifelong Process

From Rob’s new book; “365 Prophecies”

At the moment we confessed our sins to Jesus and believed upon Him as our Savior, He “justified” us before God. The word “Justified” means that we are no Just-as-if-I, had never sinned. The Blood of Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins, washed away every trace of our sin and made them as if they never existed.

Secondly, we were then “Sanctified”, meaning that we were “set apart” to belong to Jesus forever. We become His Possession. I really like the thought of belonging to Jesus, because I know the wonderful care He gives to those things that belong to Him.

Once we believe in Jesus, God sets us apart for Himself. This is the act of Sanctification. This process will not be finished until our life here on earth is complete and we go home to heaven to be with the Lord. Everyday we must set ourselves apart for Jesus. We make decisions hour by hour that either speak of our desire to belong to the Lord, or our longing to belong to this world. We make many good decisions that please the Lord, we also choose wrong words or actions many times, that are not pleasing to Him. Thankfully, when we fail, He does not stop loving us, or abandon us. Jesus is faithful to us, even when we are unfaithful to Him. He is very patient towards us, and understands our frame; that we are made from the weak and unstable elements of earth. The entire process of being fully set apart for the Lord is a daily, step by step process, where we draw closer and closer to the Lord as we reject the things of this world, and the desires of our flesh that do not please the Lord.

  • Understanding the Wrath of God

    Understanding the Wrath of God

1 Samuel 15 (the Lord speaking to Saul) Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’ ”

This verse is regarded as one of the most difficult to understand pieces of scripture in the Bible.

The Lord orders the complete slaughter of all men, women, and children. Including all infants, and nursing children, as well as every animal. The Critics of God, and of the Bible, use this verse as an example of the viciousness of God.

They assert that God is not nearly as loving as he claims He is.
They maintain that God is angry, vindictive, and cruel.
They claim that God is dual in His personality, loving and merciful in the New Testament, but vengeful and bloodthirsty in the Old Testament.
The reason that people have developed these Ideas is that they do not know God.

It is common for people to make untrue statements about people that they do not know, nor have any type of relationship with. This is what human beings do; they judge without knowledge of the true facts. We read and observe what the Bible says that God has done, and many time we do not have a clue what is really going on. The fact that the Old Testament discloses these verses of scripture to us, describing God’s command to destroy these nations entirely, should reveal a few fact to us.

Prophecy of the Messiah Being Made Sin For Us

Prophecy of the Messiah Being Made Sin For Us

When Jesus died on the Cross, He was taking upon Himself all of the sins of the world. Every person who has been born or ever will be born, as they have descended from Adam, all had have their sins atoned for by Jesus sacrifice. All sins for all time were taken upon Jesus when He went to the Cross. All that anyone has to do to take advantage of the sacrifice Jesus has made for them is to come to Jesus in true humility and be willing to repent of all their sins. Then a confession is made that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of their life. Finally, to live and abide in Jesus for the rest of your life, seeking to bring him glory and honor by the way that you live your life.

We should never think of our sins as being simply covered up by Jesus sacrifice. This is not the meaning of the atonement that He made upon the cross. In order for God to be able to remove our sins from our record, the penalty for those sins had to be paid. In human terms, when we think of forgiveness, we believe that the wrong is still there, but we chose to pass over the mistake and maintain a relationship with the one who offended us. Biblical forgiveness of sin is much different. The wrongs that we have committed must suffer the penalty for those errors. God said; “The soul that sins will die…”

Comparing the God of the Old and New Testaments

Comparing the God of the Old and New Testaments

John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

    1. Is the God of the Old Testament different from the God of the New Testament?
    2. Is the God of the Old Testament angry and the God of the New Testament merciful?
    3. Does the differences that we see between the God of the Old and New Testaments lead us to conclude that the Bible is inconstant and contradictory?

These questions are often asked of people who observe these contrasts in the Old and New Testaments and then have reason for pause in going further in their investigation of the Christian faith.

In fact, what we see are two important points that are being illustrated in both testaments that provide for us a complete view of the character of God and His requirements for fellowship with Him.

Understanding Why a Christian Continues to Sin

Understanding Why a Christian Continues to Sin

Perhaps as a new Christian, or one that has lived many years believing in and following Jesus, you have felt the conflict between your desire to please the Lord, and the actual life you lead. If no one has explained to you that you will continue to sin even as a believer, you may have even considered giving up trying to be a Christian at all.

The first step in salvation is the act of “justification”. In Justification we are made legally perfect in the eyes of God, by the removal of our sin record, through Jesus sacrifice. By Jesus death, He took upon Himself all of the sins of every person who has been born on the earth. From God’s perspective, He could not just forgive us and act as if our sins were not an issue any longer. God had to carry out the sentence promised by Him for the violation of His moral law.

Ezekiel 18:4 “Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die.

God provided an alternative to the death of the sinner, by allowing a person to be set free from the penalty of their sins, by their consent in placing their sins on Jesus Christ . Until a person agrees to allow Jesus to take their sins, they remain on the sinners record. At the moment that a sinner asks Jesus to forgive their sins, He takes all of their record of wrong and places them squarely on Himself.

  • How Do We Know We Are Saved?

How Do We Know We Are Saved?

The assurance of our Salvation is one of the attributes of Christianity that is unique amongst all of the religions of the world. In most cases, when a person devotes their self to a particular religion, they never have any guarantee that they will actually go to heaven, until the moment that they die. As with the Later Day Saints, otherwise know as the Mormon’s, a person can spend their entire life in obedience to the church and live a complete life of righteousness, yet never know for sure that they have eternal life. This is due to the fact that the final dispensation for every Mormon is in the hands of Joseph Smith, according to Mormon Church Doctrine:

…no man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith….

How Easy and How Hard It Is, to Go to Heaven.

How Easy and How Hard It Is, to Go to Heaven.

Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

If you closely follow the statistics given in the Bible, you come to the conclusion that there are not going to be many who make it to heaven. I say this not as a matter of my own personal opinion, but as an observation of a direct statement by Jesus Christ. Jesus said concerning heaven, that “There are few who find it.” On the other hand, those who will miss heaven: “broad is the way to destruction” and “there are many who will go in by it.”

  • The Return of Jesus and the Acceptance of Sin

The Return of Jesus and the Acceptance of Sin

As we approach the return of Jesus for His church, world-wide the acceptance of sin is increasing dramatically. Young people who claim that they love Jesus, yet live together in the same home without being married to each other. Men and women who claim to be Christians, yet live in a homosexual or lesbian relationship.

Rather than offend those who live in these lifestyles, Christians say nothing, hiding behind the phrase “I just love them and accept them the way they are…”

Jesus said that when we accept the sin of a confessing follower of him and say nothing about it, that he will hold us accountable for our indecisiveness.

Daily Walk: You Are Complete In Jesus

Daily Walk: You Are Complete In Jesus

Colossians 2:8-10 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

It is interesting that once we come to Jesus and receive Him as our Savior, at some point months or years later, we start to imagine that perhaps we were not really saved at all.

Think for a moment about your life before you received Jesus into your heart. Were you ever worried about whether or not you were saved? Of course not. Most of us really gave no thought about our salvation because we were too busy with our lives.

  • What Jesus Said About Hell

    What Jesus Said About Hell

The Bible describes the fact that there is only one way of escape from hell and eternal separation from God: The Cross of Jesus Christ. Whether a person choses to believe that truth or not, determines whether their final destination is; heaven or hell. Like it or not, hell is for real, and unless all of us repent of our sins and turn to Jesus Christ, we will never see heaven.

The new book out by Rob Bell called “Love Wins”, paints God as so loving and merciful that He could not possibly send anyone to hell. What pastor Bell has neglected to include in his thought process and understanding of God, is the fact that God is just as much a God of Justice as is he a God of Love.

Sin is an offense to God and He promised that “The soul that sins, will die eternally”. The promise to Adam was that on the day that he sinned against God and ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he would die.

Ezekiel 18:4 “Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die.

  • The Bible Is Not For Everyone

The Bible Is Not For Everyone

The Bible is Not For Everyone.

While I write these words they seem inappropriate, even wrong. After all, I have always believed for the past 36 years that God intended the Bible be read by everyone. In the sense that God wants all people to know Him and the only way that anyone can really know God is by His Word, the Bible is for everyone.

What I am hoping to communicate in this short article is the fact that the Bible is not identical to all other books. The Messages from God that the Bible contains are focused on a select few people.

When anyone chooses to believe in and follow Jesus Christ, that decision was known to God before the earth, time or the universe was ever created. Known to God are all things and He elects to eternal life, all those who He knew in advance, would chose Jesus and make Him Lord and Savior of their life. If a person never chooses Jesus Christ throughout their life, then God has not chosen them. I hope this principle can be understood. The sovereignty of God demands that every soul who makes it to heaven, does so by the foreknowledge and election of God.

Daily Walk: Confession of Sin and Fellowship With God

Daily Walk: Confession of Sin and Fellowship With God

2 Corinthians 5:17-20 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has what? given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and he has also committed to us the same word of reconciliation.

The Father was in the Son, seeking to reconcile us to Him by judging our sins, condemning them, and punishing them in the body of our precious Jesus.

A.W. Tozer siad that “The Holy man is not one who cannot sin, a Holy man is one who will not sin.”

    Missing Heaven By 18 Inches

    Missing Heaven By 18 Inches

The debate rages on over what it takes to obtain eternal life. With thousands of religions in the world claiming that theirs is the “only way to heaven”.

Upon a close examination of all religions, they have a few things in common.

    1. They require you to do some type of work.

    2. They require you to adhere to the rules of their organization.

    3. Their leaders are all mortal human beings.

Only true Christianity is based not upon an organization but instead, on a person. Jesus claimed that He alone was the only way to heaven and that failure to receive Him as Lord and Savior meant a person would die in their sins.

    1. Christianity is not based on anything you can do, but what Jesus has already done.

    2. You cannot keep the law of God perfectly, no matter how hard you try. That is why you need a sinless Savior.

    3. The leader of Christianity is Jesus, the Eternal Creator of all things.

  • Signs of the Last Days: Remember Noah

Signs of the Last Days: Remember Noah

Matthew 24:38-39 “For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.”

Jesus said that in the days just before His return, the spiritual condition of men on the earth would be as it was in the days of Noah. During the 100 years that Noah was building the Ark and warning of a coming judgment, people went on with their daily lives with no thought of God, nor the results of their actions. When the Ark was finished, judgment came and it was too late for anyone to be saved.

The Bible describes the fact that in the days of Noah, the thoughts and intention of man was constantly towards evil. Every thought of man’s heart was towards evil. The last time that the world reached a pinnacle where sin abounded to such an extent that it covered the earth, the Lord destroyed all living things by covering the earth with water.

Genesis 6:5-7 “Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the LORD said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.”

Today, people will wake up and go off to start their day with no thought of God, nor the results of all of their actions throughout the day. One day, just as suddenly as in the days of Noah, Judgment will come again. Jesus will return and remove all those who have recognized their sin and have come to God in repentance and have looked to Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Then will begin a time of horrors on the earth the likes of which no one in all of their mind could imagine. Two-thirds of those who dwell on the earth will perish in three series of seven judgments, each of which will grow progressively more severe.

  • The Changing Moral Values of Americans

The Changing Moral Values of Americans

It was not really a surprise that the new Pew Research Center report in October of this year revealed that Americans have increasingly believed that marriage is optional, and that a family can include a homosexual couple with a child.

The understanding and conviction that marriage is an institution ordained by God for the benefit of man, is less a concern today than at any other period of time in history. As Americans move farther and farther away from a close relationship with God, they feel less inclined to pay attention to what He says.

This is the fault of the pastors in many churches who no longer teach their congregations the Word of God from the pulpit, but instead bring flowery sermons on prosperity, wealth and feeling good about one’s self.

Coincidentally this past wednesday evening, I was teaching through the Book of Revelation in a local church about this very subject. In Chapter 3 of the Book of Revelation, Jesus commends the church at Philadelphia for their correct view of what is most important in Jesus church:

Revelation 3:8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.”

How Far is the East From the West?

How Far is the East From the West?

A man awoke one night with a heavy burden for the dream he has just experienced. In his dream he saw before him all of the sins and failures of his life and felt the sorrow over each mistep.

He turned to his nightstand and opened the light upon it. Reaching for his Bible he turned to the verse which says:

Psalms 103:12 “As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.”

For a moment he began to ponder the meaning of that verse. “Lord what does it mean? How far is the East from the West? I have so many sins Lord, how can you possibly remove them all? I feel sometimes Lord that I am just one sin away from you giving up on me. How can you still love me when you know about every failure of my life, I just don’t understand.”
