    How Can You Resist Jesus?

    Have you ever wanted to have a friend who knows you completely, and loves you immensely? When you are at your worst, a friend who will not give up on you. In times of difficulty and despair, a friend who stays close and truly cares. This is Jesus.

    Although He created the heavens and the earth, He is interested in you. He always has time to listen. He is never bored with your endless conversations. Always willing to forgive, never impatient or condemning. And when you realized that you wanted to live forever and be forgiven for all your sins, He came to you and offered His life in exchange for yours. Two thousand years ago, He allowed evil men to brutalize Him and tear His body to pieces, all so that He could take the punishment for your sins, removing any chance that you would suffer judgement for them in the future.

    On Being a Christian

    The only way that people in the world can know that we are a true follower of Jesus Christ, is the love that we display openly for each other. If we publicly ridicule, criticize and rebuke each other, the message that the world receives is that being a follower of Jesus is going to subject us to the same kind of betrayal, unfaithfulness and hatred that people in the world experience every day.

    Why would anyone want to become a follower of Jesus, if those followers are exactly like the people in the world?

    The primary characteristic that we should be developing in ourselves is Love. Love towards other believers, because they also love Jesus. We overlook each other’s failures, inadequacies and mistakes. When we see or hear another believer in Jesus write or teach something to try and encourage other believers, our only response publicly should be full of grace, and love.

    When Friends Depart, You Stay

    In life people will misunderstand you, abandon you, for reasons unknown to you. Your heart will be broken and you will feel hopeless. You will make mistakes, and never be able to correct them and have a chance to explain all that was in your heart. If you can keep your heart open and continue to love these who leave you, someday, some of them will come back into your life again and you will pick back up, right where you left off. People may never know the truth of what really happened, but you don’t even have to tell them, or bring up the past again. It is enough that you have your friends once more, and that for the rest of your life, and even into heaven, you can love each other and worship at the feet of Jesus forever…

    Bringing The Dead Back To Life

    Romans 4:17 …God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did…

    There are those things in our life that seem sometimes, as if they are dead. Relationships, opportunities, feelings, things we live with in regret of, because we didn’t do what we should have done.

    The God that we serve is in the business of resurrecting things that have died.

    We might think that it is too late for us. Those missed opportunities are gone and we feel like we will not be able to change anything now that the time has passed. If you have felt that way, you would not be alone. All of us live with regrets of the past. The important point of this verse in Romans 4:17 is that we should never count anything as “too late” or “dead”.

    The Pharisee and the Prostitute

    Luke 7:36-40 Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to eat. And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil. Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, “This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner.” And Jesus answered and said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.”

    In this story, Simon the Pharisee invites Jesus to have dinner with him in his home. While there, a woman enters the house of Simon, a woman who is described as “a sinner” comes and falls at the feet of Jesus. Apparently she was a prostitute who had heard Jesus speak to the crowds. Not caring what anyone thought, nor how foolish she might be seen, she burst into the house of Simon and falls at Jesus feet in deep repentance and worship of Jesus.

    Just Love Him

    Just Love Him

    As a person grows in their relationship with Jesus Christ, they will increasingly desire to “do more for the Lord”. I have often heard men teach who are gifted in expounding on the Word of God and thought; “How I wish that I could have an effective ministry for Jesus like that man….”

    Then the Lord speaks to my heart and tells me; “Rob, what I want most from you is that you would just Love Me.”

    We forget that God does not need us to complete himself. He does not need our work, our money, or our sacrifices to make him happy. God is complete and lacking nothing, and has been so, always. He did not make man so that he could have someone to talk to or do his work. He is self sufficient and in need of no external help or support from any creature.

    The fellowship that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit have enjoyed with each other forever, is all that God needs and will ever need.

    Psalms 41:1-3 Blessed is he who considers the poor; The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. The LORD will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The LORD will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed.

    To have the ear of God and experience His moving in, and upon your life whenever you have a need. What is is that moves God’s heart and brings Him to our aid? David wrote in Psalm 41 that when we take notice of and consider the poor that are amongst us, the heart of God is stirred to bless our life.

    Daily Walk: No More Condemnation

    We live in a world of condemnation. Even when we do our best to say and do right things we are often misunderstood and judged incorrectly. It hurts when people misunderstand us and say things about us that are not true. It hurts even more when those who accuse us are our close family and friends.

    Joshua was the high priest of those returning to Israel from the exile of seventy years. In Zechariah chapter 1 we see a scene that is set in heaven. Satan is accusing Joshua before the Lord. His accusations are always the same: we are unrighteous, sinful beings who have no right to the presence of God. Satan’s accusations would be true except for one very important fact. Jesus died for us and has cleansed us of all sin and wrongdoing by His precious Blood.

    Daily Walk: Everything From Nothing

    Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

    In this first verse of the Bible we find a treasure chest of eternal truth. Before a single planet began it’s rotation and gave the presence of time, the Lord existed.

    Dwelling in the infinity of existence, there was no passage or duration of an observable day. God simply existed. He has Himself no first cause. We often wonder how it is that God who made all things could himself have no beginning. In our limited human mind, we cannot conceive of a being who had no beginning.

    Zechariah 4:6 ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts.

    Zerubbabel was up against unimaginable opposition and difficulty in trying to rebuild the temple at Jerusalem. He was discouraged and dismayed at all that was before him.

    The Word of the Lord came to Zerubbabel to encourage him that it would not be by his own might, nor by the power (authority of others), but instead by the all powerful Spirit of the living God, that the temple would be built.

    Daily Walk: Trusting Instead of Trying

    Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all of your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths.

    From the time that we take our first step as toddlers, until the day they lay us in a soft bed to comfort us in our last days on earth, we strive to be independent.

    There is just something about us that compels our soul want to “do it ourselves”. To wait for someone to help us. To go through the embarrassment of having to ask for help, is for most of us, more difficult than just trying to figure out the problem ourselves.

    Daily Walk: You Are Complete In Jesus

    Colossians 2:8-10 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

    It is interesting that once we come to Jesus and receive Him as our Savior, at some point months or years later, we start to imagine that perhaps we were not really saved at all.

    Think for a moment about your life before you received Jesus into your heart. Were you ever worried about whether or not you were saved? Of course not. Most of us really gave no thought about our salvation because we were too busy with our lives.

    James 5:16-17 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.

    A plague that has encompassed the church in the past one hundred years, is that of spiritual pride. Those who have been saved from the penalty of their sins, who begin to believe that they are somehow better than those who are yet unsaved.

    Daily Walk: To Not Stumble in Our Words

    James 3:2 For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

    Most people have had a moment when they have said something that they wish they could take back. We hear ourselves saying the words and seconds later cannot believe that we have just said those things.

    Whether it is the result of anger or frustration, or even the casual slip of the tongue as we talk to our friends, all of us have stumbled in the usage of our words.

    Before we came into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, we were His enemies. We were alienated from Him with no hope of restoration by any self means. Now that we have received Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are fully His sons and daughters. All the blessings and riches of His Grace and Mercy are ours forever.

    In this new relationship with God, He desires that we constantly come into a place of daily refreshment.

    Daily Walk: The Importance of Unity

    Genesis 11:6 And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.

    One of the greatest dangers in the Body of Christ is that of divisions and disunity. It seems to be a mark of the church of the last days that those who claim to follow Jesus, spend an increasing amount of time in the telling and hearing of gossip. Of even greater danger is the backbiting that occurs in churches where the personal integrity and reputation of the individual members of the church are destroyed by the negative comments made by those who claim to be followers of Jesus.

    On the opposite and more positive side of disunity, is that of Unity in the Body of Christ. When believers are united in once common mind and goal, there is nothing that is impossible to them.

    Daily Walk: Who Will Be Taken at the Rapture?

    Hebrews 11:5-6 By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

    Many times the question has been asked regarding who Jesus will take with Him when He comes for His Church at the Rapture.

    Some have claimed that only those who have purified themselves of the sins of the world will be ready and therefore taken by Jesus. Others claim that the church must endure the seven year tribulation period so that she can be cleansed and ready for Jesus. Still others say that when Jesus comes, all those who have called on His name will be taken by Him back to heaven.

    For the simple answer to this question, all one has to do is go back to the first example of a person taken in a rapture in the old testament book of Genesis:

    Genesis 5:24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.

    Daily Walk: Change Me, Change You

    Daily Walk: Change Me, Change You

    John 21:19-22 This Jesus spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to Peter, “Follow Me.” Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?” Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “But Lord, what about this man?” Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.”

    A rumor had spread amongst the disciples that John was Jesus favorite and that because of John’s highly favored position, he would never die. Somehow Jesus would preserve Him and not allow his favorite to ever be harmed or to perish.

    Peter was apparently put off and a little irritated, even perhaps envious of John’s supposed place of honor with Jesus. Peter did what many of us do when we are irritated by someone, we naturally begin to wish that the Lord would change that person or our situation.
