So often we hear in the news and even on this blog, desparaging remarks made towards our president and his leadership. I too have many disagreemtts with President Obama and many of his policies. That being said, he is still our president and according to the Bible, we should be respectful and prayerful over his possition and leadership.
Romans 13:1-7 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
For the person who claims to believe in Jesus Christ, they must pray for and support the office of the presidency of the United States until those policies are in direct conflict with Biblical principles. I hope you will join with me in often praying for President Obama and His staff in all the decisions they must make everyday that effect millions of lives.
“Father we thank you so much for allowing us to live in a country where we have a form a government that allows us the freedom to worship God and express our faith openly. We understand that all government leaders are placed by you for purposes and reasons only know to you. Whether it be for blessing or to bring judgement, you Lord place all leaders in their authority. President Obama has the weight of the entire United States, and very often the world Lord. Grant him wisdom to do righteousness for our nation and people. Guide and direct his heart and his decisions so that we might remain a free and blessed nation. We pray that his relationship with you would be real and strong and a daily part of his personal life. Forgive him and his cabinet when they sin and fail to do your will. Remember that he is only dust as are all of us Lord. Thank you Father that your hand is always upon this nation and has been from the beginning. It is by your great power and incredible Grace that we are still a free people today. Be patient with us Lord, we are still a proud and sinful people and we are in constant need of your forbearance and Grace in all of our lives. We pray this in Jesus Name, Amen“
