1Corinthians 3:1 “And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 3 for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? 4 For when one says, ‘I am of Paul,’ and another, ‘I am of Apollos,’ are you not carnal?”
We live in a generation of Christians who don’t know who their family is. Baptists don’t want to have fellowship with Catholics, Denominational churches don’t want to have fellowship with Non Denominational churches.
When we all arrive in heaven, no one is going to ask you what church you went to. So why is this such a big concern on this side of heaven?
The church that Jesus died to birth is made up of all those who call upon Him as Lord and Savior. It has absolutely nothing to do with the particular brand or denomination that it is called.
There is only One Church, and it is called “Jesus’ Church”.
In fact, He is the only one who can rightfully call it “My Church”
Matthew 16:18 “And… and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.“
All the rest of us are just members of Jesus’ church. The fellowship of all those who are in a personal relationship with Jesus should be sought out by everyone who claims to follow Jesus and Call Him Lord and Savior. Shame on us if we look down on the little church down the street with only 25 people. “You know if they were really a valid church, they would have 2,000 members like our church.”
I have actually heard those words come from the mouth of those who claimed to know Jesus as their Lord.
The validity of the church has nothing to do with its size. Did you know that it was 250 years before the Christian Church started holding services in their own buildings? When Jesus’ church first began, the members of His church met in houses and took turns holding meetings in different homes from week to week. The average size of these house churches was about 25 people.
In our walk with Jesus today, let us change our attitude about other Christians who go to a church different than our own. May we reach out in love and common fellowship to anyone who calls on the name of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior?
The only sign that really proves that we know and love Jesus is the Love that we show to other believers, irregardless of their denominational affiliation.
John 13:35 “By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
