Galatians 4:4-7 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Whatever you were before you gave your life to Jesus, you are no longer the same person.
There is a story of a homeless woman who lived off of the trash others threw away. She wore torn and tattered clothes, neglected to bathe for weeks, and lived a reprobate and destitute life.
One day, a well dressed man in an executive limousine pulled up on the street where this petite and tattered woman lived beneath a dirty cardboard box. As the gentleman approached the young woman, he called her by a name that she had never heard before. “Your majesty, we have been searching for years to find you. When you were born, the hospital where your mother gave birth to you accidentally switched you with another child. The mistake was only discovered three years ago. You are the daughter of the King and heir of his throne.”
The words that lay upon the young woman’s ears sounded foreign and impossible. She had known only poverty, pain and pessimism in her life. She never imagined that her circumstances could ever be any better than they were.
The king’s executive assistant asked the young woman a question: “You have lived life on the streets as a reprobate an vile woman, now that you know who you are, what will you do?”
The young woman stared deep into the hazel eyes of the dapper old man. For nearly a minute she said nothing as she pondered his question. Stammering as she began to speak; “I will be a b- b-better person. I am the daughter of the most high in the land, I will begin to live in a manner that is worthy of my father’s great name.”
As you make your walk with the Lord today, remember who you are. Though you may have lived the life of a tattered and broken person before you found a new life in Jesus, today you are no longer that person. You are the son or daughter of the Most High God. You belong to the greatest King in the Universe. All that He has is also now yours.
You do not have to live life any longer as if you do not matter. Everything that happens to your life is under the care and protection of your father, the Great King.
Since you know who you are, how now will you live?
Seek to live the rest of your life in a manner worthy of your Father’s great name. Live as one who is the heir of He who made everything. Bring your Father Glory, Honor, and Praise by the righteous life that you now live.
