Hebrews 10:29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
How important to you are the souls of human beings?
Over the course of the past 36 years, I have shared Jesus with many people who have rejected my attempts to bring them to Jesus for salvation. Even after many years and repeated pleading to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord, they persisted in their rejection of Jesus and His offer of pardon for their sins.
I have often thought about those celebrities who had so much wealth and power, fame and adoration, but then died and went into eternity without Jesus.
The horror of that first moment when they realized what a terrible mistake they had made with their life. After chasing all the wrong things, accumulating so many material possession, in the end they had nothing but regret and sorrow that will last forever and ever.
The Book of Daniel records the fact that those who pray for and take the time to lead others to Jesus, will have an eternal joy that they made a difference in the lives of people that will affect them forever and ever:
Daniel 12:3 Those who are wise shall shine Like the brightness of the firmament, And those who turn many to righteousness, Like the stars forever and ever.
The Lord told Ezekiel that if he failed to tell the lost about how they can be saved, that the Lord would hold him accountable for their soul. But if He did warn the lost and they did not repent, then He would hold the one who rejected the message accountable and the messenger would be blameless:
Ezekiel 3:18 When I say to the wicked, “You shall surely die,” and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.
Ezekiel 3:19 Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.
Everyday hundreds of thousands of people die and go into eternity. If they did not receive Jesus as their Savior, there is no hope for them beyond the moment of their death.
The knowledge of this should give us chills, that people are being lost everyday and we have the ability to change that eternal destination by simply speaking to them.
In our walk with Jesus today, may we ask Him for greater boldness to tell everyone that we come in contact with about what Jesus has done for them. The only thing we have to fear is that if we don’t tell them, we may have been the last person they ever spoke to on this earth before they depart into eternity. Their souls should matter to us greatly. Jesus saved us so that we would be a witness for Him to other people and give them the opportunity to have what we have.
Today may be the day of salvation for the next person you meet. Salvation is in our hands. May we give it to everyone we can before it is too late?
