Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
1 Timothy 4:12 Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
To take a high road that is less traveled and often ridiculed. To live a life of purity, honesty, faithfulness and humility. These are not characteristics that are idolized by our society today.
One of the things that absolutely drove men crazy about Jesus was His Holiness, His separation from the world. Jesus lived a life of righteousness that has never been equaled by any other human being. He had to. If Jesus had sinned even a single time, He would have been disqualified from being the perfect sacrifice that we all needed.
The Bible describes the fact that Jesus’ power came from the Holy life He lived.
Romans 1:4 …and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness…
Can you imagine how hard it was for Jesus every single day of His life to not give way to any sin? Before you think that Jesus did not feel the same temptation to sin that you and I feel, think again:
Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Jesus could have sinned, He simply chose not to.
Jesus determined that His life was so important to you and I, that He could not afford to give way to any temptation. Jesus was here to represent to us what God is like, but also to show us what a perfect human being can be. Jesus lived the kind of life that all of us are meant to live. By His spotless life, He showed us that it is possible to overcome temptation and sin and live a life completely dedicated to God.
How important is it to you today to be seen as someone who is trying to live a life of Holiness because you Love your Lord so much?
Jesus made a Holy life His priority because your life depended upon it. Should not all of us who have taken His precious blood as the covering for our sins, and have partaken of the healing provided by His broken body, not also give the remaining portion of our life to be Holy for Him?
On the last night of Jesus’ life, He only asked us to do one thing: “Remember me”
Luke 22:19 And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
In our walk with Jesus today, may we make a commitment to live a life that is pure and Holy as an offering of our gratitude, love and affection for Him.
They tortured and committed Jesus to the most unimaginable pain and suffering that any human could experience. They inflicted upon Jesus something that can never be understood by any of us: The experience of knowing what it feels like to have all of the sins of the entire world heaped upon Him and to die for those sins, even though He Himself had never done a single thing wrong.
May we truly Love Jesus today for what He has done for us, by living a life worthy of His great sacrifice.
