Daily Walk: Jesus Did It All For You

Ephesians 2:5-10 “…even when we were dead in trespasses, He made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

Today as you go about the daily tasks of your life, remember that everything that needed to be done, everything that could be done, has already been done for you by Jesus.

It is a difficult principle to accept that we are lost sinners, separated from God, with no hope of eternal life. We want to believe that we can do something ourselves to redeem our bad deeds. We all believe in second chances and we often give mercy to those who are in need of it.

When it came to us and our sin, there was no second chance, no possibility of redemption. There was no good work that we could do to make ourselves acceptable to God. Our sins had separated us from God and all of us were on our way to eternal separation from God.

“Even when we were dead in trespasses, He made us alive…”

Think of that moment in your life when you committed your greatest failure. That time in your life when you wish that what you had said or did, had not happened. You would do anything to go back and do it differently, but you cannot change what has already taken place. Perhaps you have lived your whole life in guilt, in regret and in sorrow.

That moment when you made your terrible mistake, is when Jesus was loving you the most. It is for all of your failures that Jesus died and gave His life in exchange for your life.

When Jesus died, because He is God, His life has such incredible eternal value that He could pay for the sins of every person who has ever been born. He paid for your sins, all of them. Today Jesus offers to you and every other person who is alive on the earth, the opportunity to have a brand new life.

If you have already made that decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then you are clean before God. All your sins are gone and you are completely righteous and perfect in His sight. Even the sins you commit every day after you first confessed Jesus as your Savior, up until the last day of your life on earth, all your sins are forgiven.

This incredible salvation, the giving of eternal life, is yours at no cost to you. There is nothing that you could do to earn it or be found worthy of it. God gave you a gift for free. But it cost Him dearly. Imagine giving up your precious son for people, many of which will never thank you or care what you have given them.

Such is the great love of God towards you right now. You have eternal life as your present possession. No one can ever take it away from you. All you have to do now is continue to abide in Jesus and stay close and committed to Him for the rest of your life.

Let me say this to you one more time: Today as you go about the daily tasks of your life, remember that everything that needed to be done, everything that could be done, has already been done by Jesus, for you.

How then will you walk in your life now that you understand who you were before you heard what Jesus had done for you and who you are now that you have had all those horrible things of your past wiped away as if they never happened?

Walk then in your life, worthy of the great sacrifice that Jesus has made for you. This is your reasonable sacrifice, the giving of the life you have left, for the life that Jesus gave up for you.
