Daily Walk: Do Not Be Easily Swayed

Galatians 1:8-12 “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Who can you trust in today’s world? Around every corner and on every news channel there is someone who claims to be an expert. In these final days before Jesus returns, there are those who have invented many new religions and ways to God that claim to be a “New Revelation”.

Churches and Pastors have ceased from teaching through the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation so that the people who attend church do not always know what the Word of God says. The Bible describes the fact that men would “depart from the truth” in the last days. For the one who is sincerely following Jesus, they must constantly be in His Word so that they can recognize the false and inaccurate teaching of men.

About two hundred years ago, a man claimed that an Angel spoke to him and revealed a new way to God and that all other churches and attempts at God were lies.

When Paul wrote to the church at Galatia they were being inundated by many new religions that attempted at moving people away from a simple trust in Jesus. The people were upset, and had become easily swayed from the former message that Paul had brought them about Jesus’ death and resurrection.

Paul wrote the Galatians in chapter 1 to remind them that the message about Jesus Christ came to him directly from the Lord Himself. And to make the point that the Bible is not the opinions of men, but the infallible, everlasting Word of the Living God. The test for that claim has always been, and always will be, the thousands of prophetic predictions stated in the scriptures. Not one word of God’s promises to us have ever failed and they never will fail.

You will often experience doubts in your Christian life. It is a normal part of walking with Jesus, to have doubts about God, yourself, your faith, and even the Bible. If you simply bring those doubts to the Lord in prayer and tell Him honestly how you feel, He will strengthen you. Continue to trust Him even when everything doesn’t make sense and you cannot understand what is happening in your life.

1Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”

Remaining steadfast and immovable in your trust of the Lord is a process of falling down and getting back up. It is not the falling down that the Lord is most concerned about in your life. It is when you are down and will not get back up and continue with Him. In a still and small voice He will whisper to you; “Get back up and follow me. You can do it, I will Help you and I will never leave you or forsake you.”

Hebrews 13:5 “… For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ “

Matthew 28:20 “…and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
