Throughout the Bible, the scriptures reveal to man what an amazing God this universe has.
He shows to us who He is by the things that He has made. Through His actions over the course of humans history, He reveals His power, His wisdom, His beauty, goodness and amazing creative activities.
Knowing in advance that man would fall into sin, the Lord still chooses to create human life. He walked with Adam, sought out human contact and even when Adam fell into rebellion, the Lord promised that He Himself would come to redeem man (Genesis 3:15)
The promise of a redeemer would require the One who made all things to become a part of creation itself and die as the sacrifice for man’s sin. What was it like for an eternal, all powerful, completely sinless and Holy God to come to this corrupted planet and become one of us?
This amazing God demonstrates His Holiness and hatred of sin by pouring out His wrath on His own son. In that same instant He also showed how deep and far reaching His love is by giving that which was most precious to Him, Jesus to die for all of us.
We see His justice at the Cross in judging all sin and putting them away forever and this miracle appropriated to all who simply believe what He said: “God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life…”
He shows His Grace everyday by giving undeserved sinners everything they need for their life, Sunshine, Air, Water, Food and Shelter, despite the majority of human beings who will never love Him or call upon the name of Jesus for salvation.
He gives mercy to anyone who asks, removes their guilt and fills them with peace at the moment they call upon this great God in sincerity and humility.
He resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. He looks on the difficulties of all people with compassion and a desire to bring to earth His righteous rulership where goodness, security, peace and love are over the whole earth.
There is no further need for God to prove His existence, He has made himself known by the things He has made and by an internal knowledge He has placed in every man.
The Bible says that “The fool has said in his heart there is no God”. Inside the heart of denial, God has hardwired a deep inner sense of knowledge that God exists and that He can be known.
In all of the wonderful qualities of God that we love:
Goodness, Love, Mercy, Grace, Patience, Holiness, Peace, Righteousness and Justice, there are those that we should love equally:
Jealousy, Wrath, Wisdom, and Perfection.
We should never think of the attributes of God as being like the petals on a rose that can be picked off when we like them and left alone when we do not. The attributes of God cannot be seen in isolation from each other. God is Unity and as such, He must be understood in the totality of His nature. When the Lord shows us His judgment and wrath, He has not ceased to also be Merciful, Kind and Patient. Conversely, when He expressed His Love, Patience, Mercy and Love to us, He has not ceased to be a God of Judgment and Wrath.
As human beings we very often emphasize the attributes of God that we love the most, while forgetting those we like the least. We speak of and apply God’s love to our individual circumstances, but we forget that God is also Just and cannot condone sin or excuse it. He will not Love us at the expense of His Holiness. He Loves us but He also will judge all sin and remove it eventually from the presence of the Universe.
When a person takes the attributes of God that they like and ignore those they dislike they become unbalanced in their concept of God, to the point of Idolatry. The Biblically based view of God is that He is a God of Love but has no tolerance for sin. Although He has allowed for a time of grace when the sins of men do not see their quick judgment, there is a time soon appointed by God when He will judge all sin and assign it to eternal separation from His presence forever.
Amazingly in this present dispensation of human existence, the Lord has remained patient, longsuffering and merciful to all those who are still in their sins and unrepentant of their actions. Everyday men deserve swift action but instead enjoy their remaining lives partaking of all God’s blessings without a thought towards Him or His goodness.
This patient and glorious God offers forgiveness and reconciliation to Himself everyday the earth circles the Sun. All sins have been paid for by Jesus death on the Cross, and there awaits no judgment for all those who come to Jesus in sincere repentance. Eternal life is but a few soft spoken words on the mouth of every human being. God is listening and ready to forgive. He has appointed a brief time in which all men might be saved, but His Spirit will not strive with man for much longer.
The return of Jesus for His church is close on the horizon and the day when no man can find salvation nears with every breath of life we breath. This life is all we have to find forgiveness and eternal life. At death the decision we have made in our life to either accept or deny Jesus sacrifice for ours sin is sealed the moment we breath our last.
We who believe are the messengers and ambassadors of Jesus great sacrifice and offer of forgiveness. If we do not tell those in our world, He will hold us accountable for our unwillingness to speak. If we know how great our Glorious God is, let us speak up and speak out so that everyone knows What an Amazing God we have.
