One of the barriers for many in believing that God exists, that the Bible is true, or that the God created the universe, are some very good questions that remain unanswered.
For many others who claim to not believe in God, unbelief is a matter of the will, not the lack of sufficient evidence. For a minority of those who are sincerely seeking truth, these genuinely want to know if God exists, but have not found reasonable answers to their questions. Some of those questions that are obstacles to a belief in God, have nothing to do with evidence, but are those perceived contradictions perceived in the mind of those with doubts.
Some of these barriers to belief, are question such as: ”How evil could exist, as it does in the world”, if there is an all powerful God?” “If God truly loves human beings as is claimed, why does he allow so much human suffering?” “How could there be a God who truly cares about us, yet allows evil men to carry out their brutal and cruel acts?” ”Why do so many bad things happen to so many good people?”
The person who sincerely asks these questions is not lacking faith, they are simply people who want to understand how they can reconcile the presence of evil in the world, with claim by Christians that there is an all powerful and loving God who cares for them.
In order to answer the question of enduring evil and suffering in the world, it is necessary to go back to the foundation of man’s beginning, and understand what is described as “the fall of man, as described in the Bible. When a person asks how Christianity could be valid in it’s claims, and in order to answer all questions for the serious seeker of truth, I will use the claims of the Bible as the reference guide for those answers. Whether or not you believe the Bible to be true, the historical Christian believes the Bible to be the Word of God, and therefore the foundation for Christian belief.
According to the Bible, when the earth was created and man placed upon it, the moral environment was perfect. God gave man dominion over the whole earth. All creation was subject to man’s authority, as it had been given to him directly by God.
In the original creation of man upon the earth, no one hurt or took advantage of anyone else. The reason that this was true was due to the fact that there was the absence of sin in the world. Sin is defined as moral imperfection, with an inherent and enduring tendency towards wrong actions.
Man was perfect and without sin in the beginning, therefore his behavior was perfect. Once the first man violated the principles for maintaining a morally perfect life by disobedience to God’s word, sin entered the human race. At that point, when man made the decision to not be subject to the rule of God, he lost his right to have dominion over the earth.
Just as we inherit many of the genetic and personality traits of our parents, so also have all human beings inherited the undeniable defect of wrong moral attitudes, thoughts, words, and deeds, that began in the first fallen man. If any person should deny that man is a sinful creature, all he has to do is open the morning newspaper or turn on the T.V. to see the atrocities that human beings commit against each other every day.
The results of this sin defect in the character of man, is what has caused all of the suffering and presence of evil in the world today. We cannot blame God for the evil that men do to each other, by their own free will. God gave man the freedom of choice, and he will not violate a person’s choices to do either good or evil with their life. The reason that so many good people suffer, is that so many bad people use their freedom of choice to commit hurtful and destructive acts towards others.
The suffering of Good people is also caused by sickness, death, and accidents that are a part of the fall of man that began with Adam. We live in a defective world that is not the world that God intended for man. In God’s original creation, man did not ever get sick, or die, and no one ever suffered. Suffering, sickness and death are the results of our sin that causes our bodies to wear out and die. God warned Adam that on the day that he sinned, he would begin to die. Men have been suffering the effects of God’s unheeded warning to Adam, every since.
It is not God’s fault that we have all chosen to live our lives in opposition to his leadership over our lives. We are living with the results of a world apart from God. It is not that an all powerful God allows evil to be present, as much as it is that evil is present in the world because of man’s choices.
Man is described in the Bible as being “Made in the Image and likeness of God” (Genesis 1:27). Self determination is one of the gifts that God has given to man that makes him “Like God”. Each of us have been given the privilege of determining our own destiny, by either loving God or rejecting God’s claim over our life as our Creator. What we see in the world today, is what the earth is like for man when he chooses to live his life in opposition to God. It is not God’s fault that evil is present in the world, it is the fault of those who commit those evil acts.
At the end of this age, when God has given man the full length of his appointed history on earth, he will judge the evil acts of men. We should never think that because judgement is delayed, God is powerless to stop evil, nor has any concern for evil in the world. God has delayed his judgment of sin and evil in order to give man sufficient time to repent and receive his offer of salvation. The Bible states that “God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, and is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (Ezekiel 33:11, 2 Peter 3:9).” At the appointed time, God will end all evil forever.
The Biblical account of man creation shows that in the background, a creature know as “satan”, appears to have great opposition to man’s creation in the first place. It is possible that satan, who was called “Lucifer” before his own fall, was himself a prince over this earth before man was placed here. Lucifer is spoken of as being the wisest and most beautify creature that God had made. He is spoken of as being a ruler on the earth, or “Prince” over cites and perhaps even some kind of beings (Isaiah 14:17, Ezekiel 28:18-19).
In the first verse of the Bible we see that “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Then something apparently happened between verses 1 and 2 in the first chapter of Genesis, the earth “Became formless and void“. The Bible states that God did not create the earth formless and void when he originally made it, he created earth to be inhabited (Isaiah 45:18). This statement in Isaiah is clearly a marker for all those who are searching for a solution to the problem of Genesis 1:2 as to why we see the earth “without form and void”. Since God spoke throughout the prophet Isaiah and said that he made the earth to be inhabited originally, something must have occurred to cause it’s formlessness.
When God is seen as creating anything, it is always perfect from the beginning (Genesis 1:31).
Something happened in the ageless past of earth, that caused it to be placed in a state of suspension, being covered with water, as described in verse 2 of Genesis chapter 1. Beginning at verse 3, we see the re-creative days of earth’s restoration from this chaos it was in, including the creation of man on the earth in this new rulership that God gives to man.
Many have struggled with the question of “how the earth could appear billions of years old, yet be described in the Bible as only being about 6,000 years old from the creation of Adam?” Actually, at no place in the Bible does God ever state that the earth is only 6,000 years old. Men have assumed the age of the earth was the same as the age of man, because of a belief both were created at the same time.
The answer to the question of earth’s age is really very simple, if a person just reads the Bible the way that it is written.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning (ageless past) God created the heavens and the earth….
Then, something happened:
Genesis 1:2 The earth became without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
God takes the earth from it’s formlessness and…
Genesis 1:3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.
I believe that the vast evidence of the Bible seems to indicate that when the earth was originally created billions of years ago, there were a race of beings placed on the earth with Lucifer as the Prince of this world. In Lucifers; subsequent fall, God destroyed the people and cities of the earth, and as a result of Lucifer’s desire to become God himself (Isaiah 14), he lost his rulership of the earth. Upon this fall of Lucifer’s, God placed the earth in a state of suspension, until about 6,000 years ago when he restored the earth and created man to rule over it.
The interpretation of 2 Peter 3:5-6 for most Bible commentators, leans towards the opinion that this text is referring to the flood of Noah found in Genesis chapters 6 and 7.
2Peter 3:5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water
2Peter 3:6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water.
I would agree with this view, with the additional possibility that there appears to be a slight inference in Genesis 1:1-2 where God originally created the heavens and the earth, that the earth “became without form and void” and was covered with water. this would mean that there was more than once occasion when the earth was covered with water other than the flood of Noah. Before the earth was brought to it’s present state of having land masses above the water, it was covered with water. Verse 2 of Genesis chapter 1 states that in this state of being covered with water, the earth was “without form and void”. In Isaiah 45, the Lord emphatically states that when he created the earth it was not formless and void. Something occurred before man was created, that caused the earth to be covered with water and become void.
Of course, none of us who make commentary on the origin of the heavens and the earth can state for an absolute certainty that the earth was first created with the universe billions of years ago, and that the earth in fact became formless and void, and covered with water. Nor do we know for certain that upon the restoration of the earth, God created man, about 6,000 years ago. It should be allowed in any discussion of the origination of the universe, that there is the possibility that earth is billions of years old, underwent a period of undetermined time being formless and void, and was only brought into it’s present state about 6,000 years ago.
This theory of an old earth/recent creation of man, would explain how the geologic record shows that the earth is billions of years old, and allows for an ancient past when Lucifer and one third of the angels of heaven fell, before the creation of man.
Instead, Bible commentators have long been attempting to squeeze the age of the earth, and the fall of Lucifer into the six days of creation. One of the objections to this old earth theory is that in order to accept this possibility, we must also accept that there was sin in the world before man was created. Of course this must be true because we know for certain that Lucifer was found with sin in him before man was created. When we see Adam in the garden , Lucifer has already become satan and is apposing the creation of man by seeking to corrupt his decision to obey God.
If Lucifer was found to have sin in him before the creation of man, then sin was already present in the universe, and on the earth, before man was created. One of the verses of scripture that is used in opposition to the theory of an old earth, and ancient fall of Lucifer, is Romans 5:12
Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned...
A primary obstacle for Bible teachers such as Ken Ham in objecting to sin being found in Lucifer before man’s creation, is that Romans 5:12 claims that sin entered the world through Adam, and was not present until Adam sinned.
This verse confirms only the fact that sin entered the human race through Adam, which spread to all men. It does not state that sin did not exist in the world before man. The Bible clearly describes the fact that sin was found in Lucifer before man was created, as described by Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28.
We must be careful to not apply a verse of scripture universally to all situations when it clearly is limited to only one application.
Romans 5:12 applies only to human beings, not to angels, or any other created being that may have been present on the earth before man was created. It is wrong to assume that man is the only being that has existed on the earth. Clearly Lucifer was a prince on the earth before man was created, in dominion over a creation that is only inferred in the Bible. The omission of any details for any creation prior to man, is not relative, nor important to the message of salvation to man. Except for this brief reference in Genesis 1:2, that before man was created, the earth went through some kind of catastrophic period of time, we know nothing else on this matter. It certainly seems reasonable that Lucifer and the angels fell from God’s grace concurrent with earth becoming formless and void, and was logically the reason for earth’s early demise before man was created.
In each of the six day of creation described in the first chapter of Genesis, these days are restorative, not an original creation. Genesis describes the earth as having seed that was already present on the earth, being brought forth to grow grass, trees and plants. Man is told to “be fruitful and multiply and “replenish the earth…” The original Hebrew language is specific that earth is being replenished for a second time, not created for the first time. The obvious reason is that earth was created billions of years ago when the universe was created.
Upon careful examination of all the language of creation in Genesis chapter 1, the earth is being brought out of a state of suspension, from being “void” (empty), and is being restored to it’s former state before man dwelt here.
The geologic record shows that the earth is much older than six thousand years. There have been skeletal remains of beings discovered that are said to be millions of years old, identified as “not human”, yet resembling the current human beings that live on the earth today. The DNA of these beings, is vastly different from the DNA of human beings living today, but not the same. Their fossilized remains show that they were here on the earth millions of years before Adam was said to have been created in Genesis chapter 6.
This theory would be a reasonable answer to the question of “why the age of the earth appears to be billions of years old, when the Bible describes the earth as only being 6,000 years old.
It took me almost 35 years to finally come to the realization that the traditional defense of a young earth from a Biblical position, was not accurate. In fact, I believe the Bible teaches that the earth is Billions of years old, from the account of Genesis 1:1. It is between verses 3-31 of Genesis chapter 1, that we see the current earth and it’s restorative creation that give us the 6,000 years defended as the age of man.
This 6,000 year date is obviously true, as we study the chronology of the Biblical since the creation of Adam’s in Genesis. If one of the questions that you have had unanswered to this point, as to why does the Biblical describe a 6,000 years old earth, in direct conflict with the geologic record of the earth that shows that it is billions of years old, you now have the answer to that question. The Bible is true, man has simply missed the fact that God has told us all along that the earth was created in the beginning of the universe, billions of years ago. Man in his present form, appeared on the earth about 6,000 years ago.
This position will no doubt be greatly criticized by many of my friends in Bible literacy, and has been discounted already by some of the best Bible teachers that the world has ever known. The problem for me is that this insistence on a young earth, a Biblical account of only 6,000 years for the age of the earth, and the dating of Lucifer and the angels fall, do not line up correctly. It is only when we concede that there was a great gap of time between verses 1 and 2 in Genesis chapter 1, that we can see that the Bible does teach the correct age of the earth as being billions of years in age (Genesis 1:1), and that man has only been here the last 6,000 years (Genesis 1:3-31).
Upon man’s creation on the earth, satan was waiting for his opportunity to cause the downfall of mankind. When the first man fell from his perfection and rulership over the earth, he surrender that authority to satan. The Bible often speak of satan as being “The God of this world” (2 Corinthians 4:4). This simply means that satan has been given the rulership of earth on a limited basis, having won the right from man’s fall, and this limited dominion of satan shall continue until Jesus returns to earth at the end of the prophetic age. At the return of Jesus, he will assume his rightful place as king and ruler of the whole world, for one thousand years, as described in the Book of Revelation.
This dominion right by satan was forfeited to Jesus Christ at the Cross, 2,000 years ago. The Bible describes the fact that one of the purposes for Jesus coming to earth was to destroy the works of the devil forever (1 John 3:8). Jesus has delayed his right to rule the earth, until his return, at his second coming to earth.
The world that we see with all of the murders, hatred, brutality and death, is the results of a world without God’s rulership. We see everyday what the earth is like when it is under the dominion of satan.
Why does God permit this to happen? It is a matter of the free will of all men, to choose to love and obey God or to refuse. God’s love for mankind is so, that he respects the decisions that we make in our life. If a person willingly rejects God, he will not force that person to love him, anymore that we would force another human being to love us if they choose not to.
The answer to why there is so much evil in a world that God has made, is that this is not the world that God has made, it is the world that we have made for ourselves, as a result of our unwillingness to place ourselves under God’s authority. Before we object to God’s allowing this evil to be present on the earth in our own lives, as a result of Adam’s disobedience 6,000 years ago, we must look also at out own disobedience. Have you been living your life in obedience to God, or have you lived your life, your own way? Each one of us are just as guilty of being disobedient to God, as Adam was when he committed his own act of rebellion against God 6,000 years ago. Adam had the rulership for all human beings. When he lost it and experienced sin, he did so for all men who would come after him.
In the same way, when anyone places themselves under the Lordship of Jesus Christ today, that person is given the righteousness and right standing before God that Jesus has. As in Adam all are sinners and die, so also in Christ are all made righteous and acceptable to God and shall live forever.
No matter how stubborn we might be in our insistence that we have not seen sufficient proof for God’s existence, we must also remember that we are limited human beings and do not have the kind of knowledge that would ever provide us with absolute proof that God doe not exist.
No matter how much any person might know about a particular subject, it is impossible that anyone could ever know everything about one subject. When we consider that there may be an infinite God with knowledge and power far beyond our comprehension as a human beings, logic dictates that our knowledge of him must also be quite limited.
We must only look around us to realize that we already have enough information to come to a logical conclusion that an unlimited intelligence has made this universe. It is not possible that the design, order, precision, and beauty of this immense universe, could have occurred simply by chance. To believe that this were true, would require much more trust and faith in shear chance than to simply acknowledge that an intelligent being made what we can see and observe.
In our own everyday life, all of the things that are a part of our life, were made by intelligent beings. We accept this as truth without much thought, yet the complexity of our own body and the delicate balances of a finely tuned universe that allows human life to be possible, seems unreasonable to some, that it was made by an intelligent being.
Many people stand on the belief that no one has ever shown them sufficient evidence that God exists, yet it is equally impossible to prove that he does not exist. In fact, there are greater proofs all around us everyday in our life, for the existence of God, than we will ever find during an entire lifetime, that could prove God does not exist.
Carl Sagan, who claimed that he did not know if God existed, made the absolute statement that the “Cosmos is all that is or ever was or ever will be”. How could he or anyone ever say with certainty the Cosmos is all there is, since all human being have limited knowledge about the existence of the universe?
If the universe exploded from nothing, where did the material come from in that explosion out of nothing?
“In the beginning, there was nothing, then it exploded, and everything came into existence…”
Or, “In the beginning God already existed, and he created the heavens and the earth from nothing, and then everything came into existence…”
Which one of those statements takes more faith?
A simple single cell contains a complex digital code that instructs the physical matter of the cell on how to arrange the protein molecules so that they can form into a functioning life form. The digital code in each sell is similar to the software that runs the physical hardware of a computer. Software can only come from an intelligence, it cannot originate by random chance. DNA is the software that runs the hardware of matter. Without the complex digital instructions of DNA, there wold be no life forms. All of us understand that if we have digital code, or software, that this information came from an intelligent being. Software does not evolve by random chance, it is methodically created by a being. The software that makes life possible in all 750 Trillion of the cells of your body, could not exist without that coded information having been designed and created by an intelligent being.
I believe that there is an immense amount of logical, scientific, mathematical and reasonable information available that anyone could easily accept Christianity, or follow Jesus Christ.
If Christianity has so much evidence so as to convince anyone that it is true, then why doesn’t everyone become a Christian? Though the evidence for the existence of God is staggering and the facts of Christianity are overwhelming, facts alone can never persuade a human being to accept something that they are unwilling to accept. In most cases, it is not the mind that needs to be convinced, it is the heart that needs to be open, in order to make believe in anything a reality. In is not that there is insufficient evidence to believe that God exists, it is that most people simply do not want to believe.
Perhaps the world’s best know atheist, Friedrich Nietzsche said: “If one were to prove this God of the Christians to us, we should be even less able to believe him…” “It is our preference that decides against Christianity, not arguments.”
In his honest ascent into why most people will not believe in God, it is understood that the real reason people reject God, is that it is a matter of the will, not the intellect. It is actually quite easy to prove that God exists beyond a reasonable doubt, but only an individual person can themselves choose to accept it. No amount of evidence in the entire universe can ever convince someone who does not want to believe. The evidence is not is what in the way of belief, it is the person’s will that is the hindrance.
If you doubt this statement, let us test our theory:
If someone could provide you with reasonable answers to all of your questions about God and Christianity, and prove intellectually to you that Christianity is reasonable, logical, and likely true, would you then become a Christian?
If your answer is “no”, then the reason you have rejected Christianity or a belief in God, is not intellectual, it is emotional, a matter of your will. You simply do not want to believe. In this case, there is really no amount of evidence that will every convince you that God exists, or that following Jesus is right.
The Bible says that the reason that people will not surrender their will to God is that they love their life the way that it is, in most cases (John 3:19). Not having to answer to any moral authority and to be free to do anything you want, is the desirable choice for most people. Let’s all be honest, sin is fun, until after a whole lifetime of living for yourself goes by and you come to the end of an empty an unsatisfied life…
One of the most beautiful and stunning revelations that God has made to man, is that we are all free to not accept him, and his offer of forgiveness of sin and eternal life. If a person truly loves another person, they will not ever use any force on that person. A love that is willingly and freely given, is the only real love that matters. Any love that is forced or coerced, is fake, and unsatisfying. God wants the same kind of love from you that you want from other human beings, genuine and sincere. A relationship that is based on honesty and truth. For this reason God presents just enough evidence to prove that he exists, and then leaves the decision for the acceptance of his offer of love, up to each person.
This is the reason that God does not care to poke his head down through the clouds and announce that “he is God and we are not, so we had better accept him, or we are fried…”
To insure that our choice for him is truly free and un-coerced , he allows us to see enough of him in our everyday life to know that there must be a God, without directly intervening in our decision by directly presenting himself to us. To see God in his full glory, the Bible says, would “consume us”. The light of God’s glory is such that no mere human being could stand in his presence. The Bible proclaims that it is “because of the Lords compassion for us, that we are not consumed.” Should we be allowed to see the full intensity of his eternal glory, it would immediately consume us.
To see God in his full glory would overwhelm our ability to be free, and forcibly compel us to receive him. This negates our freedom. The truth of this is seen in the Bible, when at the end of the age of man on earth, time will expire, and God will call all men into an accounting for the life that they lived on the earth. Those who had previously rejected God, will fall on their knees and proclaim that he is God, though they formerly rejected him. It will be because they see him in his glory, that they will be compelled to bow before him. God desires a willingness to love him, not by being compelled, or overwhelmed, but by trust. It is more valuable to God that you believe him, without actually seeing him, than if you were to make your decision on just what you could perceive with your eyes.
I believe that the Bible alone has the answers that all people, everywhere, are seeking in their life. After studying and applying the truth of God’s Word to my own life for more than 36 years, I have found it to always be true and the only viable explanation for the condition of man and the hope of his future.
The influence of the Bible on human society is one of the most stunning proofs for the fact that it is the Word of God. The impact that the Bible has had on human relationships, is a matter for the history books. No other document in the history of the world has had a greater power to change human society for the better, than the words of the Bible.
The limited use of human power over other human beings, is first exemplified in the first five books of the Bible. The basis for all human law that protects the rights of the individual, have their roots in the basic laws of God, for man, as descried in the Bible.
The fact that the Bible describes man as being “made in the image of God”, has changed the way in which people value human life, equality and dignity. Because all people are seen as eternally valuable to God, we understand that we must treat all other people with the same respect, honor and dignity. When human life is treated as precious and as valuable as it has described in the Bible, then human society prospers and experiences peace. From the Bible, we understand that the all human life, whether it be the unborn, the disabled, or the aged, have just as much value as all other human beings deemed valuable in society.
It was because of the words of the Bible that those who first came to the shores of America, refused to be held under the tyranny of the king of England. The very words of the Declaration of Independence have their origin from the Bible. “We find these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal… that all men have the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness…” These principles came from the liberty that God has given man in his right to life and liberty as his creation on the earth.
The laws that given men freedom are not new principles created by man, they existed in the mind of God before man ever walked the earth. Democracy, equality amongst all races and gender, came from Biblical truth. The rights of women to be equally treated with men came from Biblical doctrine that “in Christ men and woman are the same, there is no difference…”
The abolition of slavery came about because of the Biblical truth that all men are precious and equal before God, and that no man should be subservient to another man. Some have criticized this thought adding that the Bible teaches slavery. This is of course not true. During certain periods of man’s existence, the Bible records that men took other men and women as slaves. The Bible condemns the practice of slavery and gave only regulations for the Jews as to how those who sold themselves into servitude due to poverty, should be treated. After the sixth year of their service, they were to have all their debts cleared and be set free.
The historical facts of man’s existence on earth reveal that the Bible has served as an important foundation for the formation of true liberty and has placed a higher value on human life than those nations and people where God is not known or worshipped. In those nations where the Bible is regarded as the Word of God, and the people of those nations believe in and serve the Jesus of the Bible, those citizens experience greater freedom, less tyranny, and more happiness than any in any other nation where other religions or beliefs are held.
These are a few of the intellectual reasons why people reject Christianity, but an even greater obstacle is that of the will. For many, they simply do not want to place themselves under any restriction in their moral decisions. If we eliminate God from the equation of our life, then is is very easy to live anyway that we want to. Without God, there is no accountability for our actions, therefore no reason to not indulge in anything that our heart desires.
I have presented a few of the answers to the many questions that skeptics have for the existence of God, or whether following Jesus and becoming a “Christian” is a logical decision. Only you can change the course of your life. Whether you realize it or not at this point in your life, the purpose for your being on earth, is so that you would have an opportunity to say yes to God’s invitation for the forgiveness of your sins and have as a present possession, eternal life.
God loves you deeply and he desires that you would be able to have a personal relationship with him. He defined the way that this relationship would be possible by sending his only Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus is described in the Bible as being the “Lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world“. This means that before God created the world, His Son offered himself for the sins of all people. God knew you and all about your life, as well as every person who would be born on the earth, long before he ever created the first man. Knowing that we would all fail, he still allowed us to have just one life on this planet in which we could hear about eternal life being available through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and either receive it for ourselves, or reject it. God will respect your decision either way. He hopes that you will see all the evidence for his existence and understand the basics of sin, and salvation, so that you can make an informed decision.
Forgiveness and a new life begin when you simply ask Jesus to forgive your sins, based on the sacrifice that he has already made for you, and believe it in your heart as truth. You can say a very simple prayer to change your life right now. If you are sincere and ready to have all the guilt from you sins removed, pray this very simple prayer:
“Dear Lord Jesus, please forgive me for all of my sins. I believe that you died for me to make this forgiveness possible. I accept you as my Lord and Savior and want to live for you the rest of my life. Please help me to live for you and tell others that forgiveness and eternal life is also available to them. Help me to read my Bible everyday so that I might increase in my knowledge of you, and help me find a church where the Bible is taught from Genesis through Revelation, so that I can have all the words that you have written to me. Remind my to simply talk to you in prayer each day about anything and everything in my life. Help me to remember that even though I have been forgiven and have a new eternal life, as long as I live in this same body here on the earth, I will still make mistakes and sin. You promised that if I will just confess those sins as soon as they happen, you will forgive these also, and cleanse me of all unrighteousness. Thank you for coming into my life and allowing me to know you.
I pray all of these things in Jesus Name, Amen.”
According the authority of God’s Word, you now have eternal life. No one, and no circumstance of your life can ever rob you of this new eternal life that you now have. From time to time doubts will come up, but remember that according to God’s promise, you are saved because you believed what he said about Jesus, and accepted this truth into your heart. Nothing can ever change this new relationship you have with God, as long as you choose to stay close to and abide in Jesus.
