Researchers today revealed that the “Goldilocks” planet called Gliese (GLEE-zuh) 581g that was said to be orbiting a nearby star, may not exist after all.
When the announcement was made that an “Exoplanet” that could be very similar to the earth and may in fact contain life, it drew widespread attention all over the world. For years Atheists and non believers have claimed that it is rather prideful of Christians to insist that human being are the only life form found in the universe. The truth is that the Bible reveals that the sole purpose of the Universe was to “Display the Glory of God”.
Psalms 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard.”
It appears that the glory and power of the Lord is so great that He felt it necessary to make a public display of that glory so that the doubts and minds of all creation on earth would be settled as to whether or not He exists. That attempt seems to have failed since there remains a vast contingency of those who claim that there is no evidence for the existence of God.
Isn’t it amazing that Creation itself is not sufficient to stop the mouths of all scoffers for the existence of God? If a truck fell out of the sky and landed in front of these, one would imagine that they would proclaim that the event did not occur and is a figment of the imagination. When Paul wrote the Book of Romans under the direction of the Holy Spirit, he sought to forever shut the mouths of all human excuses for why they do not believe in the one true Living God.
Romans 1:18-25 “… men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things…. who exchanged the truth of God for the lie..”.
The fact is that when God created each one of us, he “Hardwired” internally a knowledge of Himself inside of us. Much as a computer designer hard wires a BIOS into a computer that allows it to know what it is and what it’s purpose is. God made us with a knowledge of Him. This is why on the day of judgement when men proclaim that they did not know that God exists, He will show them that place inside themselves where He placed this knowledge.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 “… He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.”
This is why universally around the world in every culture and throughout all of the history of man, man has sought to worship something. There is an inherent desire within every human being to worship God. If a person does not follow that internal leading to find the true and living God, a person will give their passion, attention and desire to almost anything.
As Romans chapter 1 reveals, “God has shown to us that He exists by creating the vast and complicated Universe, so that all are without excuse to say that there is no God”. The honest men of today admit that the Universe must have had a first cause by an incredible intelligence. The earth has been strategically placed at the exact position in the universe, our galaxy and this solar system to insure that life is possible. Change any of the hundreds of finely tuned components of Earth’s atmosphere, placement from the Sun or even the size and distance of the Moon, and all life dies. Someone designed the earth specifically to sustain life.
With this in mind, the purpose of the Universe was not to spawn other planets with beings on them, it was to point the way for people on this planet to know that God made them and all things that exist.
It is extremely prideful of man to think that he has more knowledge than God and that he knows that there is life on other planets when the Word of God gives no such evidence.
In the 5th chapter of the Book of Revelation, as the title deed to the earth is taken by Jesus from the hand of the Father who sits on the throne in Heaven, a great cry goes out that no one was found worthy to open and redeem the earth except Jesus. It was because Jesus is the Creator and the God who spoke the entire universe into existence, and then offered up His life in exchange for all of human beings, that makes Jesus worthy to redeem the earth.
When Jesus took the scroll from the hand of the Father in Revelation 5:13, a cry went out in heaven that describes praise for Jesus as coming from places in the universe where living beings reside: “Heaven, Earth, Under the Earth and The Sea“. All beings in existence give praise, honor and glory to Jesus for His mighty deeds. There is not heard any praise from any other planet or in-habitation in the universe.
Revelation 5:13 “And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: “Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”
It is for certain that if there were beings found on other planets that when this call went out for praise to Jesus for His Sacrifice and Redemption of man, that voices would be also heard and described here in this 13th verse of Revelation chapter 5.
There is no other life on other planets because only Earth was the object of God’s plan and purpose to glorify His Son. It was this single place in the universe where the Love of God is so vividly displayed once and for all so that forever, all claims that God is not good and righteous would be stopped. Having seen the death and resurrection of Jesus, Christ, no one could ever claim that God is not good and loving and righteous in all that He does.
