An Honest Question From A New Believer

An Honest Question:

I had a question that nobody had an answer to. I was wondering if god made us in his image which is both male and female then why do we only emphasize that he is a male and a father? Its like saying masculinity is a priority or more important part of god. Why can’t we say father/mother? Cuz he is both. From what I learned and believe he is a spirit being and not a flesh and his spirit is both masculine and feminine…but people only call him father, and emphasize that women r the weaker half. Its like saying the feminine part of god is weak. Doesn’t seem to make sense. How can I proud of being a woman if I am always looked as weaker and un powerful? And a lil lower than men? The world has so much double standards and expectations of women and on top of that, say we r to honor and respect men, is this god’s plan? That women need to accept when men do not take responsibility,( adam was WITH eve when she was talking to the serpent, didn’t say anything and just took the apple and bit it when she gave it to him.) and we must be humbled and do nothing cuz they are the head? Im not trying to put men down im trying to understand. I hope this doesn’t offend u, I do not want to come across as a feminist. Lol.

The Following is the answer submitted by Rob Robinson:

There is not really a clear explanation in the scripture for your question, but here is my attempt at answering.

God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit and these three are expressed as “Masculine”.

It seems that God has all of the attributes that we see expressed in both a Male and Female, however, He is still Masculine.

When it says that we were created in His image, I believe that in order to properly illustrate as many of the characteristics of the Godhead as possible, He chose to express these qualities in two separate beings, Male and Female.

The Male obviously has qualities that are unique to him and the Female qualities in her that are unique. When these two come together as one in the covenant of husband and wife, together they express many of the attributes of God.

I believe that a Male by himself, or a Female by herself cannot display these same these qualities alone as they can together. In that “Mystery” of the uniting of two lives, male and female can display more fully the image of God, if they are in a covenant relationship with Him and live by faith and are led by the Spirit of God.

Before the Lord, there is neither Male nor Female that is superior, both have the same standing, the same Love, and the same opportunity for Salvation, service, and reward from the Lord. However, because the Fall of all mankind was began by the deception of the female, the Lord placed man in Spiritual Authority over the woman, and Christ in authority over the Man.

It would be incorrect to assume that because God is Masculine and the Man is in authority over the woman, that the woman is somehow inferior to the man. The scripture in no way implies this, in fact it states she is his equal before God.

A man and woman united in Marriage, under the covenant of Jesus sacrifice for their sins, living their lives led by the Spirit of God, show what the Father, the Son and The Holy Spirit are like as they are united as One.
