• Prophecy of the Messiah: “You are a Priest Forever”

Prophecy of the Messiah: “You are a Priest Forever”

Many years ago, a young man approached me immediately after I had concluded teaching the word of God on Sunday morning, and he said to me: “Pastor you have the best job in the world, you only have to work one day a week”.

He did not realize that being a servant of God is a lifetime appointment, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

When Jesus took the body of a man at Bethlehem, He did not become a servant to the Father on our behalf for only thirty-three and one half years, He became “a priest forever”.

Hebrews 5:4-6 And no man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called by God, just as Aaron was. So also Christ did not glorify Himself to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.” As He also says in another place: “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek”

The responsibility of becoming our High Priest was not something that Jesus took upon Himself, he was “appointed” to this position by the Father.

The term “You are a Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek” in verse 6, is a very strange indeed. The priesthood described in the Old Testament, came from the Tribe of Levi, Jesus came from the Tribe of Judah. Here in Hebrews chapter 5, we see that Jesus is not the same type of priest as those from the tribe of Levi. Jesus is a High Priest after the likeness of Melchizedek.

Prophecy: One Life Can Pay For All Other Lives

Prophecy: One Life Can Pay For All Other Lives

Jesus is the eternal God dwelling within the body of a man. It is from this basis, that the claim is made that His life is sufficient to pay for the lives of all other men. What is the value of the life of God? If we can agree that because He is eternal and the Creator of all things, His life is of infinite worth, it would certainly be reasonable that He could redeem all human beings.

God could offer His life in exchange for all of ours, If that was His desire.

In order for God to make His life a ransom, He would have to become one of us. It is only possible for mankind to be redeemed by another man. God could orchestrate the redemption, but He would have to use the vessel of human flesh to redeem those who are also human. For this reason, before time began, Jesus offered His life for us, knowing that we would required a redeemer. The book of Hebrews presents an interesting exchange between the Father and the Son when they agreed to fashion a human body for Jesus to live in as a man, when He would come to earth as the Messiah.

  • Prophecy: When Sin is No Longer Sin

Prophecy: When Sin is No Longer Sin

Some of those who read the words of Paul were formerly “fornicators, nor idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, sodomites, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, and extortioners”, but they had repented of their sins, and come to Jesus Christ for salvation: “And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”

Paul makes it clear that none of those who practice the gay lifestyle will inherit eternal life.

The sin of Homosexuality and Lesbianism are in the same category as all other sins. Jesus had to die for the liar as well as the gay. All sin is equal before God and requires either the death of the violator, or a substitute. Jesus blood covers the sins of the gay, the liar, the murderer, the fornicator and all other sins. God did not give special dispensation to some men who chose to have sex with each other or women with women. All sexual sin is considered particularly grievous to God because they are sins against our own body, to which Jesus dwells within us.

  • Prophecy: Eternal Life Comes by the Shedding of Blood

Prophecy: Eternal Life Comes by the Shedding of Blood

The difficulty for the hearers of Jesus teaching was that they did not understand the spiritual meaning of the words; “eat my flesh and drink my blood”. They heard only the physical act of eating Jesus flesh and drinking his blood.

John 6:53 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.

John 6:61 When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, “Does this offend you?

Many of the things that Jesus spoke in the presence of larger crowds of people, were veiled in illustrations. When the Lord spoke privately to those who had already received Him as the Messiah, He spoke plainly and directly to the point. Why Jesus hid the true meaning of his teaching to large assemblies, is certainly important. In a large crowd, many would come just to see what all the activity was all about. Others had heard that Jesus was giving out food, healing, or other miracles. Some came simply for the spectacle, others to get something. There were however, a few who were looking for truth.

    How Can You Resist Jesus?

    How Can You Resist Jesus?

Have you ever wanted to have a friend who knows you completely, and loves you immensely? When you are at your worst, a friend who will not give up on you. In times of difficulty and despair, a friend who stays close and truly cares. This is Jesus.

Although He created the heavens and the earth, He is interested in you. He always has time to listen. He is never bored with your endless conversations. Always willing to forgive, never impatient or condemning. And when you realized that you wanted to live forever and be forgiven for all your sins, He came to you and offered His life in exchange for yours. Two thousand years ago, He allowed evil men to brutalize Him and tear His body to pieces, all so that He could take the punishment for your sins, removing any chance that you would suffer judgement for them in the future.

  • Prophecy is Directed Towards Fulfillment by God’s Sovereignty

Prophecy is Directed Towards Fulfillment by God’s Sovereignty

In examining the Old Testament prophecy that the Messiah will be betrayed by a friend for thirty pieces of silver. We find that God is intentionally causing the prophecy to be difficult to fulfill, by the addition of impossible requirements

Zechariah 11:12-13 Then I said to them, “If it is agreeable to you, give me my wages; and if not, refrain.” So they weighed out for my wages thirty pieces of silver. And the LORD said to me, “Throw it to the potter”—that princely price they set on me. So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the LORD for the potter.

When we arrive at the New Testament fulfillment of these words, we find that the circumstances surrounding this fulfillment are trull stunning

Matthew 26:14-16 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, “What are you willing to give me if I deliver Him to you?” And they counted out to him thirty pieces of silver. So from that time he sought opportunity to betray Him.

Israel sold her Messiah for the price of a slave who had been gored by an ox.

Exodus 21:32 If the ox gores a male or female servant, he shall give to their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.

This is all that Jesus was worth to the Jews and the religious leaders of Israel. The thirty shekels that the chief priest paid Judas for the Lord’s betrayal was intended as an insult towards Jesus. Though He created everything that exists, and He came first to His own people, they insulted, rejected, and butchered Him on a Roman cross.

  • God Loves Us So Much, He Will Allow Us to Suffer

God Loves Us So Much, He Will Allow Us to Suffer

It is worth noting that the some of common people perceived that Jesus was the LORD, while the religious leaders, and a majority of Israel did not recognize Him. The religious leaders were filled with their own self interest and pride. The poor and common people, were constantly seeking the Lord, hoping and watching for His arrival.

It is a fact of life that a person who is suffering or undergoing a deep time of trials, is more likely to be receptive to Jesus, than the person who is experiencing an abundance in their life. We seem to be more receptive to the Love of God when our life is severely lacking. This is the primary reason that Jesus said that the poor are “Blessed” because the kingdom of God is theirs.

Matthew 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Notice that Jesus does not necessarily say that a person must be poor to obtain the kingdom of heaven. He says that a person who is “poor in spirit” can obtain the kingdom of heaven. To be poor in spirit is to be humble and broken over the reality of sin in our life. To have an awareness that we are a sinner, and that we need a Savior. This kind of “spirit”, allows a person to come to God, repent of their sins, and obtain forgiveness and the blessings of eternal life, “the kingdom of heaven”.

A person who has been living a life of material blessing, can also have a “poor spirit” that cries out to God for mercy and salvation, but it is much more unlikely that this will occur. There is something about being self sufficient in having enough money and accumulated material possessions, that prevents many people from searching for God in their life.

  • Was Jesus Born on December 25th?

Was Jesus Born on December 25th?

The Christmas season is a wonderful time of year for those who love Jesus and the fact that He came to earth to offer His life for all of us. Most people do not know the true facts concerning the arrival of Jesus to earth because the story of Jesus birth has been changed by the traditions of men over the course of years.

In this brief study we will explore the facts concerning Jesus birth and look at the evidence from a Biblical perspective.

The gospel of Luke gives us the best account of Jesus birth, so we will start here and move through the other verses of scripture that deal with the event of Jesus birth.

Luke 2:8-20 “Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.”

This verse in the book of Luke reveals information that may ruin your current view of Christmas. We learn from just this single verse that Jesus was not born during the winter month of December. In just a few minutes you will see why.

  • The Prophecies of Isaiah 53

    The Prophecies of Isaiah 53

The book of Isaiah contains 131 of these 365 prophecies from the Old Testament that Jesus fulfilled. The gap between the original prediction of these events and the actual time of their fulfillment, is conservatively 600-700 years.

We know from history that Isaiah wrote his prophecies during the reign of Kings Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, of Judah, who reigned at least 600 years before Christ was born. This is a matter of history that is indisputable and unimpeachable.

We can verify from history that all of the prophecies spoken in the Old Testament were written by these authors who lived and penned their prophecies as God gave them, from the record of the Bible, as well as extra-Biblical sources. These prophets wrote during the reign of certain kings to which we know a great deal. Since these prophecies were written at the same time that these kings are recorded in the history books as being over certain kingdoms, the certainty of these prophecies and the dating of their writings is conclusive.

As you read and study each of the 365 Prophecies in their entirety, you will be shocked and amazed at the precision and detail to which the Lord spoke the original prophecy, then recorded for us, how Jesus precisely fulfilled each one.

Prophecy of the Messiah Being Made Sin For Us

Prophecy of the Messiah Being Made Sin For Us

When Jesus died on the Cross, He was taking upon Himself all of the sins of the world. Every person who has been born or ever will be born, as they have descended from Adam, all had have their sins atoned for by Jesus sacrifice. All sins for all time were taken upon Jesus when He went to the Cross. All that anyone has to do to take advantage of the sacrifice Jesus has made for them is to come to Jesus in true humility and be willing to repent of all their sins. Then a confession is made that Jesus is the Lord and Savior of their life. Finally, to live and abide in Jesus for the rest of your life, seeking to bring him glory and honor by the way that you live your life.

We should never think of our sins as being simply covered up by Jesus sacrifice. This is not the meaning of the atonement that He made upon the cross. In order for God to be able to remove our sins from our record, the penalty for those sins had to be paid. In human terms, when we think of forgiveness, we believe that the wrong is still there, but we chose to pass over the mistake and maintain a relationship with the one who offended us. Biblical forgiveness of sin is much different. The wrongs that we have committed must suffer the penalty for those errors. God said; “The soul that sins will die…”

Prophecy of the Messiah’s Name Meaning “Salvation”

Prophecy of the Messiah’s Name Meaning “Salvation”

At the time that Jesus lived, there was a great anticipation that the Messiah would arrive to “redeem” Israel from the oppression of the Roman government. It was believed that the Messiah would either accomplish this by a change in the law, or by force. There was however, no anticipation that the Messiah would come to give His own life as a ransom for the sins of all men. It is interesting how the culture of the day, or the traditions that men hold at the time, can either greatly influence a person to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, or reject Him altogether. Such was the case at the time that Jesus came to earth the first time. This is sadly also the environment that the Jew finds themselves in today. It is culturally unacceptable today to receive Jesus as the Messiah, therefore, most Jews will not investigate whether Jesus meets the criteria, by His fulfillment of the Hebrew scriptures. Men and woman are being lost eternally today, because they listen to the words of others, rather than investigate and decide for themselves.

When the facts are evaluated, when the Old Testament prophecies are read and understood, and then compared with what Jesus has said and done, it is unmistakable that He is the One to whom they were written.

  • America: Want God’s Blessing? Be a Blessing to God

America: Want God’s Blessing? Be a Blessing to God

I watched with great interest the president’s speech this morning on rebuilding the economic prosperity of America. It was a great and inspiring speech and contained many important and relevant facts that inspired me and is the reason that I am writing this post.

The key element of President Obama’s speech that was missing was the fact that America has been blessed by God in her past history because the citizens of this great land have honored and worshipped the God of the Bible.

The founders of our nation stated that it was impossible that this land could have come into existence if God had not willed it to be. The reason for our past prosperity and global standing as the most wealthy and powerful nation on the earth is because as a people, we have in the past honored God.

“It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor.” – George Washington

  • Signs of the Last Days: “Increase in Lawlessness”

Signs of the Last Days: “Increase in Lawlessness”

For those who watch the news daily for events that continue to indicate the soon arrival of Jesus Christ, this kind of behavior immediately captures our attention. The new testament is filled with verses of scripture warning of a marked increase in “lawlessness” as we approach the return of Jesus.

Matthew 24:3 Now as Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

Matthew 24:12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.

“Lawlessness” is defined as: “people who are not governed by or obedient to laws.”

In the years immediately preceding the destruction of the earth in the days of Noah, lawlessness was increasing until it reached a pinnacle. At Sodom and Gomorrah, the behavior of the people in the community became so vile and evil in the lawlessness of those cities, that God destroyed everyone who lived there, except Lot and his family.

“He Is Risen, He Is Not Here”

“He Is Risen, He Is Not Here”

In 1846 dr. Simon Greenleaf wrote a 3 volume work called A treatise on the laws of evidence.

This work is considered to be one of the single most important authorities on the legal procedure for handling and examining evidence in a court of law.

Dr. Greenleaf examined the historical evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ to see if the internal evidence of the scriptures about Jesus death and resurrection were true or false.

The results are contained in a book that Dr. Greenleaf wrote called An examination of the testimony of the four evangelist by the rules of evidence administered in the courts of justice.

Dr. Greenleaf came to the striking conclusion that according to the same rules that are used in a court of law to examine evidence, there is more evidence for the historical resurrection of Jesus Christ than any other event in all of human history.

  • Good Friday: What Jesus Felt the Day He Died

Good Friday: What Jesus Felt the Day He Died

There were at least 21 different laws that were violated in conducting these 6 trials throughout the night against Jesus. The following are seven of the most important:

No legal transactions, including a trial, could be conducted at night.
It was illegal for judges to participate in the arrest of the accused. (John 18:3 John 18:28)
They struck Jesus during the trials: It was illegal to strike the accused during a trial. The use of violence during the trial was apparently unopposed by the judges. (John 18:22,23)
In a Jewish court, the accused assumed to be innocent, until proved guilty by two or more witnesses. The Jews failed to find two witnesses who could agree on what Jesus had done. (Mark 14:59 Matt 18:63)
When it was discovered that the witnesses had disagreed on their testimony, the prisoner should have been released, and all charges dropped. (Mark 14:56-59)
A guilty verdict was rendered against Jesus without any evidence. (John 18:30)
The voting process to condemn Jesus was illegal. It should have been by roll call, with the youngest voting first. Here they all voted together at the same time. (Matthew 26:66)
Although the Jewish leadership clearly violated their own laws, Jesus never once opened His mouth to defend Himself. Amazingly, Isaiah predicted that this would happen more than 600 years before Jesus was born.

Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.

  • The Bible is the Most Valid Historical Document in the World

The Bible is the Most Valid Historical Document in the World

What makes an ancient document valid and reliable?

Surprisingly, the criteria is the same for all documents of antiquity. According to the “Rules for Evidence”, as administered in all courts of law in the United States:

“Every document, apparently ancient, coming from the proper repository or custody, and bearing on its face no evident marks of forgery, the law presumes to be genuine, and devolves on the opposing party the burden of proving it to be otherwise.”

The burden for showing that an ancient document is not valid, is on the opposing party who makes the objection. This means that any document that verifies the old or new testament scriptures, is considered valid under the rules of evidence, unless it shows the marks of forgery, when it is found in the normal place (church) that such documents would expect to be found, and has been used by the institutions that would normally be in custody of such documents.

Being a Christian at NASA Will Cost You Your Job

Since it’s inception, the Theory of Evolution has remained just that “A Theory”. It has never been proven by evidence that links lower primates to human beings, yet it is used in all of our schools and accepted widely by most of the world’s secular intellectuals, as fact.

Now, if you subscribe to any other theory for the origin of the Universe and the fact of man’s existence, you are labeled ignorant, uninformed and naive .

At the United States NASA headquarters, if you are not a believer in the religion of evolution, you cannot belong to their church.

An evangelical Christian, David Coppedge, has been fired from his job of 15 years for believing in God and the theory that the Universe and man were both created by an infinite intelligent being.

The following article is from the Associated Press. For a Christian, this firing is both shocking and frightening. That a man or woman could lose their career now for believing in God and expressing that faith while at work, is a travesty of every law of freedom the US. has been founded upon.

  • Internal Proof of the Bible’s Authenticity

Internal Proof of the Bible’s Authenticity

The internal structure of the gospels, proves their authenticity.

It is the contention of Atheists and Bible skeptics, that the Christians accounts of Jesus Christ, found in the four gospels are “fabrications”. Some acknowledge that a man called Jesus did live about 2,000 years ago, but there was nothing remarkable, nor miraculous about his life. Others would have us re-write the entire history of man for the past 2,000 years, claiming that there never was a person called Jesus Christ.

When I read many of the comments made by Atheist’s, I wonder if the people who write these negative comments have actually read and studied the new testament gospels. I wonder if those who write such words have considered the fact that the single life of Jesus Christ has shaped and changed the thinking of the entire world? If He did not exist, and if He is not who He claimed to be, then how is it that He has exercised such tremendous influence upon every facet of human life?

Just as we know that a person has been in a room, by dusting that room for their fingerprints, when we search the four corners of the earth, we find the fingerprints of Jesus Christ everywhere we look.
