    Why Salvation is a Free Gift

    Evolution is a “theory” for how life began, not a provable and tested fact. Why then do we allow the declaration that evolution is a settled fact to continue? Until evolution can be proven, other theories such as creation, and intelligent design should be studied, talked about, and taught as valid and plausible possibilities for how life began. Liberals pride themselves on being open minded. Except when it comes to matters of evolution, abortion, or accountability to a Creator. In these issues, those who think of themselves as being very wise and evolved in their free thinking, have absolutely no tolerance for any other opinion.

    When we hear celebrities such as Bill Maher make statements that evolution is an established fact, it causes us to wonder just how smart many of these public figures really are. Some famous people seem to believe that because someone with the letters “Phd.” Behind their name says that something is a fact, that it must be a fact. Of course the reason that evolution is so widely accepted is not for it’s scientific truth, or established facts, it is because it eliminates the need for God and thereby allows a person to live their life anyway that they choose, and be free from guilt for their sins.

    We Cannot Know “How”, Without Knowing “Why”

    Scientists and Physicists believe that the “constants” that we observe in the universe are related to each other, therefore we really don’t have as many examples of fine tuning as we formerly thought. In other words, if we change one of the constants, perhaps it will affect some of the other constants, maybe it won’t. The problem with this theory is that there is no physical evidence for this. All the evidence that exists today suggests that the fine tuning of the universe is not going to change. Every time scientists try to suppress the fine tuning is one area, it comes up in another place. Given the multiplicity and the variety of fine tuning, it is highly unlikely that fine tuning will not be true in any future physics.

    This leaves us with a choice between an intelligent designer or agent and the latest theory of “Multi-verse” hypothesis. In “multi-verse”, or “many worlds” theory, there is a failure at explaining why the fine tuning of the universe could exist if there are many, many universes that exist simultaneously. In this latest “Multi-verse” theory, experts try to explain the existence of human beings on a planet that has been finely tuned, on the basis of what they call “a selection effect”. The latest experts state that only in finely tuned universes can we have observers of the fine tuning, such as human beings, so why should we be surprised that we can observe the fine tuning of the universe?

    What this thought fails to recognize is that it is not true that all observable universes have to be “finely tuned”.

    Since it’s inception, the Theory of Evolution has remained just that “A Theory”. It has never been proven by evidence that links lower primates to human beings, yet it is used in all of our schools and accepted widely by most of the world’s secular intellectuals, as fact.

    Now, if you subscribe to any other theory for the origin of the Universe and the fact of man’s existence, you are labeled ignorant, uninformed and naive .

    At the United States NASA headquarters, if you are not a believer in the religion of evolution, you cannot belong to their church.

    An evangelical Christian, David Coppedge, has been fired from his job of 15 years for believing in God and the theory that the Universe and man were both created by an infinite intelligent being.

    The following article is from the Associated Press. For a Christian, this firing is both shocking and frightening. That a man or woman could lose their career now for believing in God and expressing that faith while at work, is a travesty of every law of freedom the US. has been founded upon.

    The Universe Appears Designed, Because It Was

    What if the materialistic view of the universe is not true? What if there is an intelligence at work that caused these delicate and finely tuned absolutes to exist, so that life would be possible? It seems logical and reasonable to me as an intelligent man that the rational answer for a universe that appears to have been designed this way, is that it was designed this way.

    No one in the scientific community today can prove that every feature of the universe came about strictly by material cause. During the past two hundred years, evidence for Intelligent Design has been growing in the areas of how scientists explain the existence of the universe and the origin of life itself. Advances in the areas of Microbiology have revealed that a simple single celled organism, is not so simple. Upon examination of the microscopic components within a cell, a reasonably thinking person would come to the conclusion that they were viewing the handiwork of a master engineer.

    Ever since scientists discovered the appearance of intelligent design in the cell structure of all living things, most biologists have stated that this “appearance of design is simply an illusion”.

    Although the structure and functioning of the cell appears to be designed by an intelligence, biologists insist that the cell evolved and was not actually designed.

    From the first discovery of DNA by Watson and Crick, scientists have been aware that DNA stores information within itself that contains a four character chemical alphabet. This is the crucial information that a cell requires to transmit, build and assemble the protein molecules that every living cell needs to survive.

    This information within the DNA of the cell is a written language that is very similar to the written language of a computer code that directs the function of every computer system. Depending on the arrangement of this chemical alphabet, the DNA molecules relay this information to the cell for building proteins that make life possible.

    Atheists and humanists Richard Dawkins has stated that “The machine code of the genes is uncanny computer-like.” The amazing fact is that this computer code of the cell is so sophisticated that it is even more advanced than the human written computer code found in every software program that exists. The founder of Microsoft Bill Gates, has stated that “DNA is like a computer program but far, far more advanced than any software ever created.”

    Intelligent Design v. Evolution, The Debate Continues

    Modesto, California is embroiled in a debate about whether a science teacher will be permitted to teach the theory of intelligent design alongside evolution in his classes. Last month, Roosevelt Junior High teacher Mark Ferrante told parents on back-to school night he planned to do just that, to give his students a balanced understanding of the arguments involved. Modesto City Schools district has said that it won’t happen.

    “He will not be teaching intelligent design. He has been instructed to teach the state standards and intelligent design is not in the state standards,” Modesto City Schools spokeswoman Emily Lawrence said last week.

    The school board decided a decade ago not to teach intelligent design, but today it is divided. Trustee Nancy Cline wrote in an email, “The current curriculum states that the evolution of man, Darwinism, must be taught as a theory. I feel we do our students a disservice by not helping them become critical thinkers when we forbid the teaching of competing scientific theories, such as intelligent design.”

    ‘You Can’t Explain the Universe Without God’

    There’s no denying that Stephen Hawking is intellectually bold as well as physically heroic. And in his latest book, the renowned physicist mounts an audacious challenge to the traditional religious belief in the divine creation of the universe.

    According to Hawking, the laws of physics, not the will of God, provide the real explanation as to how life on Earth came into being. The Big Bang, he argues, was the inevitable consequence of these laws ‘because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing.’ Unfortunately, while Hawking’s argument is being hailed as controversial and ground-breaking, it is hardly new.

    For years, other scientists have made similar claims, maintaining that the awesome, sophisticated creativity of the world around us can be interpreted solely by reference to physical laws such as gravity. It is a simplistic approach, yet in our secular age it is one that seems to have resonance with a sceptical public. But, as both a scientist and a Christian, I would say that Hawking’s claim is misguided. He asks us to choose between God and the laws of physics, as if they were necessarily in mutual conflict.

    The Bible clearly teaches that God created the Universe “Ex Nihilo”, out of nothing. Before the Lord began speaking the universe into existence, nothing existed. Psalms 33:6-9 By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth… 9 For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. When John began his eyewitness account of Jesus, he begins by telling us that “All things were made by Jesus…” John 1:3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. The context of John chapter one is that when he says “all things” John is talking about the entire Universe. Later in the book of Colossians, Paul supports this claim by describing the specific parts of the Universe that Jesus created: Colossians 1:16-17 For by (Jesus) all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.

    When one examines the life and migration cycles of the monarch butterfly, it is easy to see design features which point back to a Designer. There is inexorable order in the repeatable progress of developmental stages. An incredible plan unfolds in the transforming pupal stage, through larval disintegration and reintegration to the miracle and beauty of a winged insect. Simplicity in feeding, complexity in navigation, beauty in coloration all speak of incredibly packed information in its genetic message. By whatever means it is drawn or directed to make such Herculean flights to its wintering grounds, there must be some type of implanted foreknowledge in its very being that makes it all possible.

    How Should Schools Handle Evolution? Debate It

    The sky is falling.
    Or so you might think if you have been reading reports about the Kansas State Board of Education’s proposed policy on teaching evolution. Though many have portrayed the hearings that led to the Kansas policy as a re-run of the Scopes trial, the reality is much different. Rather than prohibiting teachers from teaching about evolution (as Tennessee law did for John Scopes in 1925), Kansas is poised to adopt a policy that would enable students to learn more about the topic. (Related:Just teach it) Specifically, the Kansas policy would require students to learn not only the full scientific case for contemporary evolutionary theory, called “neo-Darwinism,” but also the current criticisms of the theory as they appear in scientific literature. The Kansas policy would not require, or prohibit, discussing the theory of “intelligent design,” which has been so much in the news since President Bush spoke about it earlier this month.

    Always Learning, Never Coming to the Truth

    I just finished an article written on the ‘Uncommon Descent’ web site that details the thought process of world renowned scientist Stephen Hawking. Dr. Hawking believes that the vastness of the universe with the countless Glaxies, Stars and Planets leaving only earth with life upon it is evidence against the existence for God.
    The Bible describes the fact that “The Heavens declare the Glory of God, day unto day they utter speech…” The entire point of the creation of the Universe by God was to display His amazing power to those who dwell on earth. At the end of the book of Revelation where a description is given of all those in the universe who give thanks and praise to God, these are seen speaking from Earth, under the Earth, in Heaven and even Hell itself, but no voices are heard from other planets or distant Worlds.

    The operative phrase above is, “They copied this code.” Venter and his team showed they can successfully identify the code necessary for a living bacterial cell. They sequenced the code, imported the code into a computer, and then outputted it. But we still don’t even understand how all the parts of a bacterial cell work. As biochemist Russell Doolittle wrote in a Nature paper titled “Microbial genomes multiply”:
    in each of the completely sequenced genomes so far there are vast numbers of putative genes for proteins of unknown function. It is precisely this point — the large number of putative genes with no known function — that has been the biggest surprise in genome sequencing…In every genome examined so far, at least a quarter of the genes remain ‘hypothetical,’ in that no function can be ascribed. After such a long history of biochemical and genetic examination, how could there be so much in the way of unknown equipment?
    Learning how to import the right code from a bacterial chromosome into a new bacterial chromosome doesn’t mean we fully understand all aspects of the code or the proteins and structures it encodes.

    Infinity was invented to account for the possibility that in a never-ending universe, anything can happen. Life on other Earth-like planets, for example, is possible in an infinite universe, but not probable, according to a scientist from the University of East Anglia.
    The mathematical model produced by Prof Andrew Watson suggests that the odds of finding new life on other Earth-like planets are low because of the time it has taken for beings such as humans to evolve and the remaining life span of the Earth. Structurally complex and intelligent life evolved late on Earth and this process might be governed by a small number of very difficult evolutionary steps.

    For many years, Jerry Fodor has been an outspoken critic of Darwinian reasoning in cognitive science and the philosophy of mind / language. As a graduate student, I saw him present a colloquium on these topics, in front of a semi-hostile audience, and admired his bravado in refusing to kneel before the Altar of Darwin. Sorry if that language seems over the top, but after the end of the Darwin Year, the steady worshipful attitude towards old Charles has finally got to me.

    California Science Center is Sued for Canceling a Film Promoting Intelligent Design

    L.A.’s California Science Center will start the new year defending itself in court for canceling a documentary film attacking Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution.
    A lawsuit alleges that the state-owned center improperly bowed to pressure from the Smithsonian Institution, as well as e-mailed complaints from USC professors and others. It contends that the center violated both the 1st Amendment and a contract to rent the museum’s Imax Theater when it canceled the screening of “Darwin’s Dilemma: The Mystery of the Cambrian Fossil Record.”
    The suit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by the American Freedom Alliance, an L.A.-based group described by senior fellow Avi Davis as a nonprofit, nonpartisan “think tank and activist network promoting Western values and ideals.”
