    Gay Rights More Important Than Religious Rights

    The New Mexico Court of Appeals upheld a ruling by the state’s Civil Rights Commission that a Christian photographer who refused to take pictures of a gay couple’s commitment ceremony violated the state’s discrimination law.

    “Elane Photography may not discriminate in its commercial activities against protected classes as the basis for expressing its religious freedom,” Judge Tim Garcia wrote in a 45-page ruling.

    The case dates back to 2006 when Vanessa Willock tried to hire Elane Photography for a “same-gender ceremony.” New Mexico law does not recognize either marriage or civil unions between persons of the same sex.

    Elane Hugenin declined to accept the job and explained to Willock that because of their Christian beliefs the studio only handled “traditional weddings.”

    University Takes “Christ” Out of Christianity

    According to email correspondence from the university, the group’s constitution was not approved because the university took issue with a requirement that leaders have a “personal commitment to Jesus Christ.”

    “Please change the following statement in your constitution,” a university official wrote to the group.

    The original statement read: “Criteria for officer selection will include level and quality of past involvement, personal commitment to Jesus Christ, commitment to the organization, and demonstrated leadership ability.”

    The university directed the group to change the statement to read: “Criteria for officer selection will include level and quality of past involvement, commitment to the organization, and demonstrated leadership ability.”

    Ironically, Vanderbilt University was founded as a Methodist institution established for the purpose of practicing – among other things – theology.

    Telling People About Jesus, “Really a Nuisance”

    Telling people about Jesus Christ may be a nuisance, but if we do not tell them, the Lord will hold us accountable for our silence. For reasons known only to the Lord, He has ordained that the Good News of Salvation be declared by human beings, to other human beings. God did not proclaim the Gospel by Angels or by supernatural means. He has left the responsibility for the eternal souls of people, to us.

    Saving people is not our responsibility, but telling them about how they can find forgiveness of their sins and eternal life, is our job.

    Jesus, in a manner of speaking said: “You catch then, I will clean them”.

    If we humbly and lovingly tell those whom we come in contact with that God is ready to forgive their sins and grant eternal life to all who come to God in Jesus name, then we have done all that He requires. If we are afraid and fear what they might say to us, or how they would react when we share the Lord with them, then they may be lost for our lack of courage.

    Signs of the Last Days: Arrested for Reading the Bible

    The video begins with Mark Mackey opening his Bible.

    “Good morning, everyone,” he says to a group of 15 onlookers waiting outside the Hemet California Division of Motor Vehicles. “I would like to read a little bit of the word of God this morning.”

    The video, shot in February of last year, ends with Mackey’s arrest.

    “You can preach on your own property,” an officer from the California Highway Patrol tells Mackey as he leads him away in handcuffs. “Folks, this is what the United States is coming to,” Mackey says to the crowd, who were standing outside waiting for the DMV to open. “You can talk about anything you want, but you can’t talk about the Bible.”

    Mackey is a reverend with Calvary Chapel Hemet, a conservative Christian church that practices an “evangelical ministry,” requiring public testimonials and Scripture readings.

    Church officials believe Mackey was arrested because of “Christian bigotry.”

    The officer who made the arrest disagrees, claiming he arrested Mackey for preaching to a public audience who had no choice but to listen.

    “You’re not allowed to preach here,” he told Mackey, “because this is a captive audience.”

    Since it’s inception, the Theory of Evolution has remained just that “A Theory”. It has never been proven by evidence that links lower primates to human beings, yet it is used in all of our schools and accepted widely by most of the world’s secular intellectuals, as fact.

    Now, if you subscribe to any other theory for the origin of the Universe and the fact of man’s existence, you are labeled ignorant, uninformed and naive .

    At the United States NASA headquarters, if you are not a believer in the religion of evolution, you cannot belong to their church.

    An evangelical Christian, David Coppedge, has been fired from his job of 15 years for believing in God and the theory that the Universe and man were both created by an infinite intelligent being.

    The following article is from the Associated Press. For a Christian, this firing is both shocking and frightening. That a man or woman could lose their career now for believing in God and expressing that faith while at work, is a travesty of every law of freedom the US. has been founded upon.

    First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America

    The Supreme court has ruled that prayer specifically referring to the name “Jesus Christ” cannot be spoken during any meeting in Forsyth County, North Carolina.

    Where is the correct balance between establishing a particular religion over other religions, and the prohibition of any religion?

    If religion is to be allowed at all in the United States, it must be unimpeded by the government. To allow prayer to be conducted during a meeting, but restrict the structure of that prayer, is a clear violation of the free exercise and freedom of speech clauses of the first Amendment of the Constitution.

    I just read an amazing article on Fox News about Denver Bronco’s Quarterback Tim Tebow. His desire to be visibly outspoken for Jesus has continually allowed the Lord to use him to be a witness for the truth of Jesus message to the world. It just goes to show that if we take a step of courage and begin to really live our lives for Jesus by letting the people know who we come into contact with everyday about Jesus, He will use us to bring Glory to His name.

    The Lord is coming for all of us soon, the signs of his appearing are all around us. The opportunities to tell people about Jesus are also all around us every day. I pray that we might all be more bold to live our lives like we actually believe the Bible is true and that Jesus is the Savior of the world…

    In Bethlehem, nearly two thousand years ago, a tiny baby was born who is the Savior of the World.

    The facts of Jesus birth, life, death, and resurrection, are a matters of history. There are more documents that prove the facts of Jesus life, death, and resurrection from the dead, than any other event of human history. Why then are various atheists groups trying to re-write history and claim that the gospel accounts of Jesus Christ are a myth?

    Republican presidential candidate Texas Gov. Rick Perry has decided to address the big elephant in the pew as we head into 2012 – the Obama administration’s relationship with religion – specifically Christianity.

    “As president, I’ll end Obama’s war on religion,” Perry declared in a new television advertisement. “And I’ll fight against liberal attacks on our religious heritage.”

    Perry’s declaration immediately resonated with millions of Christians around the nation who believe their faith is under attack and who’ve been waiting for a Republican presidential candidate to have the candor and moral fortitude to stand up and articulate why we are truly the greatest nation on the face of the Earth.

    An article this morning at Fox News is one more example of why the gay marriage/homosexual lifestyle controversy has gone too far.

    It seems that a Florida Teacher with a perfect teaching record has been suspended for private comments that he made on his own Facebook page.

    For this writer, when the day arrives that the constitution no longer protects my right to express my opinion on Facebook, this web site, or any other medium, in opposition to a moral question that I find extremely important, they can lock me up and throw away the key. I will not, nor should any Christian, be silent about the unreasonable and horrific course the United States is on granting equal rights to those who chose a reprobate lifestyle.

    I know, the title of this article is a little offensive. I debated whether or not to write on this subject at all. The Supreme Court’s decision over the rights of a church to protest during the funeral of a soldier who was killed in Iraq has caused a tsunami of emotion.

    On Wednesday of this week the Supreme Court ruled that the First Amendment of the Constitution does protect the speech of church members who do not have a brain.

    The court voted 8-1 in favor of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan. The decision upheld an appeals court ruling that threw out a $5 million judgment to the father of a dead Marine who sued church members after they picketed his son’s funeral.

    Do you believe that the Bible is the Word of God? Do you pray, go to church and believe that Jesus is the only way to heaven? Then you are in danger.

    A british couple were told that they are not “The right kind of Christians” to be foster parents. They are Pentecostal, Fundamentalist Christians who believe that homosexuality is a sin and a perversion of God’s creation.

    When applying for a new license to give foster care to children, this Christian couple were turned down in their application because they were “Too Christian”.

    It seems almost unbelievable that any American Citizen could find themselves in handcuffs and under arrest for simply preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Doesn’t the first amendment guarantee the right to free speech, which includes the right to tell someone about your faith? Every time I read a story such as this one that happened in Kansas, it brings me to the realization that before Jesus returns American Christians may find themselves arrested in their own church for simply assembling to worship God.

    During the period of history in which the church of Smyrna existed, 100 to 313 A. D., Foxes Book of Martyrs records that over five million Christians were killed during the reign of ten separate Roman Emperors for simply worshiping Jesus Christ.

    Jesus promised this church that if they would be faithful to Him even unto death, they would receive the “Crown of Life” and that they would not be hurt by the “Second Death”.

    Revelation 2:10 “Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”

    The “Ten Days” that Jesus refers to here, were ten periods of intense persecution under these Roman Emperor’s:

    The Changing Moral Values of Americans

    It was not really a surprise that the new Pew Research Center report in October of this year revealed that Americans have increasingly believed that marriage is optional, and that a family can include a homosexual couple with a child.

    The understanding and conviction that marriage is an institution ordained by God for the benefit of man, is less a concern today than at any other period of time in history. As Americans move farther and farther away from a close relationship with God, they feel less inclined to pay attention to what He says.

    This is the fault of the pastors in many churches who no longer teach their congregations the Word of God from the pulpit, but instead bring flowery sermons on prosperity, wealth and feeling good about one’s self.

    Coincidentally this past wednesday evening, I was teaching through the Book of Revelation in a local church about this very subject. In Chapter 3 of the Book of Revelation, Jesus commends the church at Philadelphia for their correct view of what is most important in Jesus church:

    Revelation 3:8 “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.”

    Fulfillment of Prophecy: Persecution For Following Jesus

    I wonder what would happen to the Christian church in America should they find that it would cost their lives or comfort to follow Jesus Christ? It very well may be that persecution and perhaps even the threat of death for following Jesus Christ and believing that the Bible is the Word of God, is coming to our land. The storm clouds of an approaching tempest are already gathering. As recent laws enacted in the United States have already begun to target the speech of pastors as “Hate Crimes”, who proclaim that homosexual relationships are sin, and abortion is murder.

    It is for certain that as the day of Jesus return nears, there will an increased cost to follow Him. Jesus described the fact that in the Last Days, those who follow Him will be “hated by all nations…”

    Matthew 24:9-10 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.

    As these days approach, let us prepare ourselves and our families so that when persecution does fall upon our lives we will be ready to accept it and be diligent to hold on to Jesus at all costs.

    At the beginning, America’s founders and the framers of our Constitution found their inspiration and direction from the Bible and Jesus Christ. It is a fact of history that most of the men who sought to give all Americans liberty and justice, did so because they believed that these rights came to all men as a gift from God.

    As 234 years have now passed, we have observed a progressive move by our presidents, to distance themselves from this heritage and look for their inspiration from secular and more humanistic leaders.

    In an article today from The Times of India, U.S. President Barack Obama publically stated that much of his inspiration came from the Hindu leader Mahatma Ghandhi. No matter what a person may admire about Ghandhi, one should remember that the Hindu religion worships literally 330,000 different Gods. They believe that man is reincarnated to be born over and over upon the earth until he finally get’s his life right.

    The Bible on the other hand declares that there is only One God who made all things and that this One God said Himself that there are no other”Gods” except Him.

    Late on the afternoon of Election Day, James Renwick Manship joined the assembly of Tea Party supporters outside the Capitol. He wore a cravat, a powdered wig, a tricorn hat and a brass-buttoned coat in the blue and buff colors of the Continental Army. Such is the standard attire of his vocation portraying George Washington.

    Clasping a replica of a 1775 flag, which bore the credo “Appeal to Heaven,” Mr. Manship proceeded to read aloud the Preamble of the Constitution. An ordained minister and a Navy veteran, Mr. Manship had also prepared a sort of concordance for the Preamble, connecting its language of justice, liberty, defense, tranquillity and so on to verses in the Bible.

    “You had divine providence, intuitive intervention, or something like that,” Mr. Manship, 57, said of the Constitution in a recent phone interview from his Northern Virginia home. “God’s words, the concept of godly government, are woven into the warp and woof of the fabric of our nation and this Constitution. It’s rightly called the ‘Miracle in Philadelphia.’ ”
