By now you have heard of 22 year old Jared Lee Loughner who killed six and critically injured U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. He is in police custody in Tucson Arizona where the shooting occurred.
What is only now coming into clear view is the deeply troubled life of this young man.
Long before the January morning when Loughner decided to take the lives of as many people as possible at Gabrielle Giffords Ralley, his soul had been tormented and afflicted by an even greater enemy than himself.
An atheist and serious student of the occult, Loughner had a secret shrine to satan with the remains of his offerings to the devil, including a human skull and candles hidden in a secret place of his back yard.
Heavily into mind altering drugs and binges with alcohol to the point of near death, left him with an obsession with the paranormal and insatiable desire to fight against anything of God.
Found mentally unstable and a danger, Loughner was removed from Pima Community College and told not to return until he had a mental health clearance from a mental health professional that his presence at the college does not present a danger to himself or others.”
Today we label young men like Jared Loughner as “Mentally Ill”. During the days that Jesus carried out His earthly ministry, people also incorrectly mislabeled young men with illness:
Matthew 17:14-18 “And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Jesus, kneeling down to Him and saying, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.” Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.“
The young man who murdered six people in Tucson my be suffering from symptoms of mental illness. He may be heavily into the occult and a danger to himself and others. But these are only symptoms of his real sickness. Clearly the behavior, lifestyle and actions of this your man Jared Loughner are due to a demonic presence in his life which has taken control of him and is seeking to destroy his life as well as everyone he comes in contact with.
John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.“
This was one of the main purposes that Jesus came, to destroy the works of the devil.
In the coming days you will hear of all kinds of scenarios as to why this young man did what he has done. You will hear blame placed on people, society and guns. The genuine enemy and the one to blame for all of this, is the same enemy that all human being have had since our creation. satan wants to destroy all human life. When an individual opens themselves up spiritually to satan by the use of mind altering drugs, dabbling in the occult and a denial of the living God, then the enemy has permission to come in and take over the life of the one who has given themselves over to these things.
What Jerod Loughner needs is a spiritual rebirth by first renouncing satan and all his power, and a repentance for all of his sins. If he will come to the Lord in all sincerity and repentance, he can be reborn spiritually and have all of his sins forgiven.
Let us not categorize this young man’s sin in any greater degree than we would for all the sins of every other man. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Without Jesus Christ, all men are lost with no hope of eternal life. The good news is that Jesus died on a horrible Roman Cross for men just like Jarod Loughner as well as you and me. None of us will make it to heaven without Jesus. But with Jesus, even Jarod Loughner can be forgiven and have his sins removed.
