The revolution in Egypt, the ensuing violence in Bahrain, Iran, Yemen, Libya and Tunisia, leaving the question: Who’s Next?
The key player in all of the middle east strategy is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Surprisingly what drives him onward in his quest to annihilate Israel is his belief in prophecy.
Ahmadinejad believes in a radical Shiite ideology, with a world view that comes from his belief in the imminent return of the Islamic Messiah called “The Mahdi”.
Under this world view, the Muslim nations of the world will rule the entire planet. Ahmadinejad believes that the Mahdi will appear on the world scene in his lifetime. This belief is what is behind his drive to destroy Israel and wipe the entire nation off the face of the earth.
Israel is called by Ahmadinejad; ”The little satan”. The United States is referred to as “The Great Satan.” According to Ahmadinejad, the Muslim Messiah cannot come into the world scene until Israel is first destroyed. Many ask whether or not Iran will launch an attack against Israel. Because Ahmadinejad believes the Mahdi is waiting for Israel to be destroyed, it is a certainty that we can expect an all out attack on Israel by Iran, in the near future.
What Ahmadinejad and other Muslims have not counted on, are the Biblical Prophecies that state that once Israel is back in their own land again, no one will be able to remove her from the land.
Ezekiel 37:21 “Then say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: ‘Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land…’ “
Ezekiel 37:25 “Then they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, where your fathers dwelt; and they shall dwell there, they, their children, and their children’s children, forever…”
The attack by the Hezbollah in July of 2006 was phase one of the War Iran intends on inflicting on Israel. The Hezbollah is a radical Shiite terrorist group who live at the northern border of Israel. The launching of the attack on Israel in 2006 by the Hezbollah, was only the beginning and a trial run for a massive all out, future attack by Iran against Israel.
In recent developments, Iran has already supplied the Hezbollah with over 12,000 modified rockets that have the capacity to reach Tel Aviv. For the first time in history, the forces that desire the destruction of Israel, have exhibited the capacity to strike some of the most populous cities inside Israel. Rockets with a capacity of 26-120 miles are already in place at Israel’s northern border.
Ahmadinejad has trained over 3,000 terrorist with Hezbollah and equipped more than 20 missile bases in Lebanon. Some of Hezbollah’s missiles can now be launched from mobile deployment systems based on trucks. Experts have been dispatched by Iran to Hezbollah that have the ability to secure crucial targets inside Israel.
With the new Obama administration making only veiled threats, and taking no real action against Iran, Ahmadinejad sees the United States as weak and unwilling to stop him in his final push to destroy Israel. The leader of Iran believes that the time to take action against Israel is now to open the door for the return of his long awaited messiah.
Ahmadinejad has publicly stated that Iran has already developed a strategic “war preparation plan for the destruction of the Anglo-Saxon civilization”. The pursuit of Nuclear weapons for the sole purpose of annihilating Israel has led to a complete unyielding by Ahmadinejad in ceasing the construction of Atomic Facilities. In every instance where the United Nations has made a new sanction agains Iran, Ahmadinejad has boasted that Iran is going to build more nuclear reactors from which he can extract the plutonium necessary for his nuclear arsenal.
Most of the uprising that has occurred in the middle east has been initiated by Iran and Ahmadinejad. As more and more Islamic nations have overthrown their former governments, Iran can influence them to a greater degree in accomplishing his world dominance by Islam. All of these moves have been carefully orchestrated by Ahmadinejad to set the scene for the appearance of the Mahdi and fulfill the Islamic prophecies.
Of course, from a Biblical perspective, Ahmadinejad is just a man who is no real threat to Israel and does not really have the power to destroy their nation. All of the final prophetic events of the last days are centered around Israel and the fact that once God has brought the Jews back into their own land again after a 2,000-year absence, they would not be moved or removed ever again.
How exciting to see the uprising in Egypt, Iran, Libya and all the other Muslim nations that are joining in their own private revolutions. These events tell us that the return of Jesus is nearer than anyone realizes. If we know Jesus as Lord and Savior of our life already, we have nothing to fear, and everything to look forward to. If we have yet to surrender our life to Jesus and have our sins covered by His sacrifice for us, then these are frightening and uncertain times indeed.
Once again the Spirit of God is whispering in the ears of the people who live on the earth: “Time is running out… Today is the day of Salvation, now is the time…”
