5.8 Earthquake in D.C. A Sign of Things to Come

Haggai 2:6-7 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come:

A Magnitude 5.8 earthquake that struck Mineral, Virginia on Tuesday was the largest quake recorded in history for that region of the U.S. The quake was felt along the eastern seaboard from Florida to New York.

The United States has over 1,400 earthquakes each year and that number is increasing in both frequency and severity.

Could it be that this larger than normal quake is a sign of things to come as we approach the coming of Jesus for His Church?

The book of Haggai records that before “The desire of all nations shall come”, who is the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord promises that He will “Shake all nations”. This shaking has begun around the world in recent years as some of the largest and most catastrophic earthquakes in earth’s history have been recorded.

The Lord is very patient and long-suffering and He does not desire that any man be lost, but instead that all men might be saved. For more than 2,000 years the Lord has patiently endured man’s sin and disregard of the Lord. The earth has grown progressively more corrupt as every thought and intent of man’s heart is increasingly towards evil.

Psalms 86:15 But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.

Romans 9:22 What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction

2Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise (to return), as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

Jesus said that we would be able to tell that the day of His return to earth was near by the behavior of men on the earth. As the day approaches, men would begin to conduct their lives as they did just before the flood of Noah when the Lord destroyed all but eight persons on the earth.

Matthew 24:37-39 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

The Book of Genesis records that as man’s sin increased to the point of total depravity, the Lord’s wrath arrived on the earth.

Genesis 6:5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Genesis 6:7 So the LORD said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth

The coming of the Lord at the great flood and destruction of the earth was brought forth by the increasing sin of men on the earth. Today we are again approaching the total depravity of man. Homosexuality has become an acceptable lifestyle in cultures around the world. It is no longer viewed as a reprobate lifestyle but has instead become a protected right that may result in punishment for all those who speak out against it.

God and prayer have been removed from American government, schools and all public venues. To speak the name of Jesus in public today brings laughter, ridicule, and scorn. Those who believe that the Bible is the Word of God and that every word of the Bible is true are held as intellectually stunted and ignorant.

New York has recently joined the ranks of those states who have made marriage between same sex partners legal. The entire east coast has become a haven for the depravity of man and the acceptance of those very same things in human society that brought the total destruction of man in Genesis chapter 6.

Today I can still write articles such as this, being protected by the first amendment of the U.S. Constitution. It may be that in a short while that right will be amended and it will be illegal to write anything that can be construed as hateful towards a homosexual or lesbian on any website.

Pastors may be arrested at their pulpits for simply proclaiming the word of God as it is written in the Bible.

The shaking has begun and it will continue until everything that can be shaken, will be shaken.

Luke 21:25-28 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. When they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
