Egyptian Crisis Centers on Israel’s Security

As we watch the events unfold in Egypt and the uncertainty of their future government, we are directed to the question of how Egypt’s instability will affect Israel’s security in the future.

If you live in Israel today you have to be concerned that Egypt will take the same course that Iran took some 30 years ago. Once the radical Islamic leadership took power in Iran their stated purpose was to insure that Israel found her destruction.

A turning from being friendly towards Israel to that of an enemy of Israel is one of the possible outcomes of the current uprising in Egypt. When the dust settles will the new government of Egypt maintain a non aggressive position towards Israel? How many other Arab nations will join the uprising and form new governments hostile towards Israel as a result of Egypt’s revolution?

This morning the King of Jordan announced a complete reorganization of his government. King Abdullah has so far been a neutral Arab nation having been placed by God at Israel’s close Eastern border. Similar moves are occurring in many other Arab nations as a result of the people of Egypt revolutionizing their country.

The neutrality of Jordan and Egypt in the past was one of the primary factors that have contributed to the safety and security of Israel. The United States has paid billions of dollars every year to these friendly Arab nations to insure their cooperation in Israel’s security.

From a prophetic view, when the battle of Ezekiel 38 and 39 begins, two of the Arab nations that are not mentioned as coming to attack Israel are Jordan and Egypt. Jordan is mentioned as the single place of safety for the Jews fleeing Israel during the reign of the antichrist. In the book of Isaiah God requests that Jordan shelter His “outcasts from the hand of the spoiler…”

Isaiah 16:4 “Let My outcasts dwell with you, O Moab; Be a shelter to them from the face of the spoiler…”

Beginning at the mid-way point of the Great Tribulation, the Jews in Israel will have the veil removed that currently covers their eyes and prevents them from seeing that Jesus is their Messiah. When the antichrist announces that he is God and that all the world should worship him, the Jews will flee Israel for Petra in the nearby nation of Jordan. It is there in Jordan that the antichrist is forbidden by God to capture that nation or do any harm to the Jews being sheltered there.

As a student of Bible Prophecy I wonder how the global uprising of formerly friendly Arab nations will fit into the Prophetic picture.

It is for certain that God will not allow any Arab nation to destroy Israel and remove the Jews from their land. The emergence of Israel as a nation in 1948 was most certainly a fulfillment of the Biblical description of Ezekiel 36 and 37 and the cornerstone of all future prophetic fulfillment.

Had Israel not become a nation once again, there would be no possibility of the return of Jesus and the beginning of the seven year Tribulation period. For many years biblical scholars wondered how the prophecy of Daniel chapter 9 could come to pass if Israel had not taken her place once again as a nation and people. All of the prophecies of the last days concern God’s plans for Israel and the eventual saving of the entire nation when they have their eyes opened and receive Jesus as their long awaited Messiah during the end of the seven year tribulation.

If God should permit Israel to find her destruction at the hands of the ever increasing Arab nations who want her complete annihilation, none of the prophecies of Daniel 9 or the Book or Revelation could take place.

These current facts being certain, how then will the transformation of former friendly Arab nations such as Egypt and Jordan affect the prophetic picture? It appears that the current movement in Egypt and Jordan could be a trigger point for the soon return of Jesus, before these nations take a position similar to that of Iran and the other Arab nations who seek Israel’s destruction.

It certainly appears that the current uprising and eventual transformation of Egypt and others to aggressive governments will necessitate Jesus return at the Rapture. We will all have to wait and see how far Egypt will move toward radical Islam and whether Jordan will maintain a friendly status with Israel.

While the world wonders how the Egyptian uprising will affect global oil prices and their economic future, we who eagerly await the return of Jesus watch these events with great excitement and anticipation.

If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, there is no greater or more urgent time in history to find your salvation than right now. It is for certain that with each passing day of the events in the middle east, Jesus is ever closer to bringing the promise of His return for all those who love Him.
