The 365 Prophecies Jesus Fulfilled: Prophecy 2

In our look at the first prophecy of the Bible, we discovered that in Genesis chapter 3 verse 15, that God had promised man a Savior to redeem him by bringing someone who would be “Born of the seed of a woman”.

A strange term since a woman does not have “seed” within her. Under normal circumstances the seed must come from a man. In the case of this promised Savior, God would supernaturally impart His Son into the woman without the aid of man.

In the Book of Hebrews there is an interesting text describing the conversation between the Father and the Son before Jesus took the body of a human being at Bethlehem:

Hebrews 10:5-7 “‘Therefore, when He came into the world, He said’: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin You had no pleasure. Then I said, “Behold, I have come—In the volume of the book it is written of Me—To do Your will, O God.’ ”

In these three verses we learn that the Old Testament sacrifices for sin were only shadows and pictures of what the true intent of God was all along. It was God’s desire from the beginning of man’s sin in the Garden of Eden, to forever put away man’s sin. The sacrifices that the people brought to the priests in the Old Testament were to prepare our understanding for the day when Jesus would come as a human being and be the one sacrifice that forever paid for our all of our sins and permanently remove them.

A human body was prepared by the Father for His Son so that Jesus could be qualified to be the Savior of the World. God could not simply ignore man’s sin because He had already made a pronouncement that “The soul that sins will die.” In order for God to be just, He had to punish man’s sin by death just as He had said He would.

The method of executing judgment for mans sin had to be by the death of a man who was worthy to bear the sins of all men. The problem was that all men are sinners since Adam’s fall, meaning that no man could ever redeem himself or any other man.

Jesus is described by the Bible as being the Creator of everything in the Universe. As God the value of Jesus life is infinate. If God could dwell in the body of a human being and experience all the temptations for sin that any other man would experience in his life, yet never sin, He would qualify to offer His life in exchange for the lives of all men.

The Bible describes the fact that as all men were made sinners by Adam’s sin, so also are all men made righteous by Jesus Sacrifice.

1 Corinthians 15:21-22 “For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.”

Satan was the cause of all man’s heartache. He is the one to whom death was introduced into the world. Therefore it was the purpose of Jesus to destroy the works of satan which caused death to enter the world. In addition, when Adam sinned he also lost rulership and dominion of the earth to satan. One of the purposes of Jesus death and resurrection was to redeem the rulership of the earth from satan back to God.

The second Prophecy in the Bible is found in the second part of Genesis 3:15:

Genesis 3:15 “…He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”

At the Cross, Jesus not only paid for the sins of every person who has ever been born on the earth, He also “Bruised the Head” of satan. The meaning of this verse is clear that Jesus would destroy the works of satan by removing the slavery of sin and the fear of death that all men have. The meaning of “He shall Bruise your head” is clearly a reference to a fatal blow being dealt to satan and his works by Jesus upon His death and resurrection.

The second part of Genesis 3:15 is that Jesus would Himself experience a “bruising of His heel” by satan. It was the intent of satan at the Cross of Jesus that He would forever be defeated and lose the ability to be anyone’s Savior. When Jesus rose from the dead on the third day, the reality of what His death had meant came to light.

The death of Jesus on the Cross caused only the “bruising of His heel”. After the resurrection, Jesus lifted his foot and cruised the head of the serpent forever, who once defeated man in the garden and took away his eternal life.

The Fulfillment of this second prophecy of the Bible is found in these two New Testament Verses:

Hebrews 2:14-15 “Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”

1 John 3:8 “… For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”

Today, because Jesus did not waiver or fail in His efforts to be the perfect “Second Adam”, all people everywhere have the opportunity to have their sins removed and be forever perfect in the eyes of God.

All those who come to Jesus Christ in true and sincere repentance for their sins and look to Jesus sacrifice on the Cross as the payment for their sins, have their record of wrong cleansed.

If you are trusting in Jesus today and believe that He died for you on the Cross and then rose from the dead on the third day as the Bible describes, then you are clean. There is therefore NOW no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus…
