John 4:35 “Do you not say, “There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!“
There were seven feasts that the Jews celebrated in Israel: Passover, Unleavened Bred, First Fruits, Pentecost, Trumpets, Atonement, and Tabernacles. Each of these feasts have a mirror image in the work of salvation and eternal life that Jesus came to bring to each one of us.
At the Passover Jesus became the Passover Lamb who forever took away the sins of the world.
At Unleavened Bread, Jesus lay in the tomb un-raised for 3 days.
At First fruits, Jesus rose from the dead to never die again.
At Pentecost, 50 days after the resurrection Jesus birthed His church.
Between the 4th and 5th Feast there was a 4 month harvest period
At Trumpets Jesus will return to gather His church together during the Rapture.
At Atonement, the 7 year Tribulation Period will atone for the sin of rejecting Jesus.
At Tabernacles, All of God’s people will finally be gathered together in His new creation.

Jesus was pointing out that although we may be in that period of time between the Resurrection and the Rapture waiting for the Lord to return, that we should be “lifting up our eyes” to see that all around us there are many millions of souls who are not yet saved. We should be about our Father’s business and seeking to reach those who do not yet know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
This morning as we are here in the Philippines, we drove our scooter over to the local Mc Donald’s for breakfast. Each day there are gathered all around this restaurant, dozens of street children who wear tattered and dirty clothes. Many of them are orphan’s and have no homes. They are hungry, dirty and desperate for someone to love them.
As Marissa and I sat near the front window, one thin young boy with no shirt or shoes peered through the window at me as I faced him. As I looked into his beautiful dark brown eyes I saw a glimpse into his soul. The Holy Spirit then spoke to me as He very often does when I am here amongst the people. “Help Him”.
It is the same voice, and with the same words that I hear over and over each time I am near any of these who have such desperate needs here.
I told Marissa that we should go back up to the counter and buy food for the three small boys that we had seen near the front window of the Mc Donald’s in the 30 minutes we had been there. As we took the bag of three breakfast sandwiches out to the children, their faces lit up as though we had brought them the most precious gift they had ever received. One by one they came towards me and bowed in respect, grabbing my hand and placing upon their forehead in honor of myself and Marissa. “Thank you sir, thank you maam”, each one said to us.
As they took the sandwiches and began to gulp down what seemed as if it was the first meal they had eaten in days, others came to join them from around the corner.
The newcomers began to grab at the sandwiches the other boys were already eating. I stopped them and said “no, I will bring more…” They all stopped and stared at me breaking into the biggest smile I had seen yet. We turned to go inside to the front counter and ask for three more sandwiches. We turned to see the many faces of these desperate ones peering through the window. Now there were others who had joined the hungry boys. One of the boys held up 4 fingers to indicate that they needed 4 mores sandwiches to be given to the newest addition who hoped for food also.
As we exited the front door and placed each sandwich into the outstretched hands of each tiny figure, from behind the smallest of them all stepped up to receive his food. Not more than 2 or 3 years old, he had a sadness in his eyes that I will never forget.
Looking back inside the Mc Donald’s, I now saw the security guard and all of those inside looking in our direction with smiles and an expression of satisfaction. We had just experienced a great opportunity to show the Love of Jesus to people who need Him and seldom see His love given in practical ways. These are the very poor and although they often see these small children day after day, hungry, dirty and without hope, they are all just trying to survive themselves. I am sure that they have prayed that someone would come and help their people. I am just glad that we have had the opportunity to do some small work here and bring them Jesus Love.
I began to cry as always happens to me when I come into contact with these precious people. I knew that the Lord had planned this great blessing for Marissa and I on this sunny Saturday morning. I heard the Holy Spirit say to me once more: “Lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!“
What an incredible privilege it is to be here to see and feel what it is like when you give to people who really need help. Days like these will affect me for the rest of my life, I am just glad that I am here and that the Lord is so good to allow me to serve Him here. As you start your Saturday morning in about 12 hours from the writing of this post, please remember to pray for the people of the Philippines and thank you to all of you who are already supporting us in our service here.
