Zechariah 4:6 ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts.
Zerubbabel was up against unimaginable opposition and difficulty in trying to rebuild the temple at Jerusalem. He was discouraged and dismayed at all that was before him.
The Word of the Lord came to Zerubbabel to encourage him that it would not be by his own might, nor by the power (authority of others), but instead by the all powerful Spirit of the living God, that the temple would be built.
We can chose to fight our battles ourself with our own wisdom and might, we can even seek power from others. The Lord is ready to allow us to give it our best shot if that is our chosen course.
However, if we choose instead to do nothing our selves, but rather pray and ask Him to fight the battle for us, we will have the Lord of heaven as the captain of a great army.
We might think that we have the resources to tackle any situation, but we will always be sorely wrong.
If we chose to pray and trust the Lord to take care of the opposition, the problems and the attacks of the enemy, then He will swiftly come to our aid and take care of every problem for us. We must be willing to allow Him as much time as He requires to do the work we are asking of Him.
It is by waiting on the Lord to complete His will in these difficult moments that we find that He will take care of our difficulties much better than we ever could have.
Today in our walk with Jesus, may we submit the problems of our life to Him and simply pray instead of fight. May we trust instead of travail. In this complete surrender of our will to His will we can experience peace and confidence, knowing all will turn out for good.
