Romans 8:32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Many times when we are going through a particularly difficult time in our life, we wonder if the Lord truly loves us and cares about our suffering.
It is important when we don’t know what is happening, to go back to something that we do know:
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
As we look back at the Cross of Jesus Christ, we realize that God was giving to us the very best that He has in the offering of His only Son. When Jesus came to earth to be the payment for our sins, He came as the Creator of all things, the eternal God of the Universe. His life has more value than all other things in the universe.
There is no greater example of love that God could show us, no higher degree of grace, compassion and care that the Father could ever display to us, than to give up His only Son for our sins.
Therefore when we suffer, when we have needs, when we wonder if God will bless our life and provide all the things that we need in our life, we look back to the Cross. There at the hill of Calvary, we remember that God has already given the very best that He has. Since He has already given us the best that He has, will He not also then give to us every other good thing that we need during our life?
Of course He will.
If you have moments of doubts about the goodness of God in your life, and don’t know if God truly loves you, go back and look at the Cross. Think about what it was like for Jesus to be publicly humiliated as He hung naked upon the Cross for You. As they mocked Him, spit upon His Body, drove nine-inch nails into His precious hands and feet, with every injury Jesus was saying: “This is how much I love you.”
Today as you walk with Jesus, everyday farther and farther from the earth, getting closer and closer to heaven, remember His love for you. When you don’t know what is happening, go back to what you do know: The Cross Jesus died upon was your ever present reminder that He will always love you and give to you the very best that He can give you.
