America and the Prophecies of the Last Days

There has been a pattern developing over the course of the past few years that indicates that events around the world are centered on the United States.

Uprising in Egypt, Yemen, Bahrain, Tunisia, Jordan, Libya, with more to come. Global spikes in oil prices. Attacks on Americans in Germany, off the coast of Somalia, across Europe, the Philippines and Asia.

All these events have one overwhelming target: America and Americans.

Is it just a coincidence that all of the global uprisings and conflicts seem to be centered on the United States? A hatred by the people in these nations for regimes that our government gave billions of dollars to support, who have cruel and oppressive dictators as their leaders.

Some who study Bible prophecy indicate that the United States’ unwillingness to return to God and the elimination of God from our schools, government and families has caused the Lord to begin to do in America, what He has done in Israel.

In the book of Leviticus, the Lord warned His people that if they kept His law and followed Him with all their heart, that their country would be blessed and prosper. If however they refused to obey, they would be visited by various judgements.

Promises for obedience:

  1. Peace: Victory over enemies
  2. Fruitful: Prosperity in life
  3. God will walk among us

Leviticus 26:3-13  ”If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them, I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and none will make you afraid; You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword before you. Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight; your enemies shall fall by the sword before you. For I will look on you favorably and make you fruitful, multiply you and confirm My covenant with you. I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that you should not be their slaves.”

Warnings for disobedience:

  1. Terror
  2. Loss of productivity
  3. God will set His face against us

Leviticus 26:14-17  “But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments, and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant,  also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies.”

“Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you.”

Although these promises and warnings are clearly given to Israel, one wonders if they could be applied to the United States. Those who participated in the forming of our nation and the framing of our Constitution were keenly aware of the fact that God was orchestrating the existence of our nation. Many of our founding fathers observed and stated that is was impossible that the United States could have become a nation apart from the sovereignty of God.

If God called this nation into existence, then certainly He is capable of taking it out of existence. If God is responsible for the great blessings we have enjoyed for 200 years, then He can certainly remove His hand of blessing.

The question then is this: Are we seeing the beginning of the end of the United States as we know it?

The first warning for a rejection of God is that He will allow terror to overtake our land and our lives. Our enemies will gain access to our land and our prosperity that they were never able to gain access to before. Our productivity will decline, our economy will falter and fail. Finally, God will no longer stay in a nation and with a people who do not love and obey Him.

It is possible that the only reason that the United States has not yet completely been destroyed yet is because of the remnant of sincere people in the U.S. who still love Him and are trying to follow Him.

There are numerous examples of how the Lord spared the wicked for the sake of the righteous in the old testament.

In Sodom and Gommorah, the angels were prohibited from destroying the cities until they had removed Lot and his family.

Genesis 19:12-13 Then the men said to Lot, “Have you anyone else here? Son-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whomever you have in the city—take them out of this place! For we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before the face of the LORD, and the LORD has sent us to destroy it.”

Genesis 19:22 Hurry, escape there. For I cannot do anything until you arrive there.

Before God sent the angels to Sodom and Gomorrah to destroy it, He told Abraham what He was going to do. Abraham’s response was to ask the Lord if He intended to destroy the righteous with the wicked?

Genesis 18:23 And Abraham came near and said, “Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked?

Genesis 18:25 Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

In Egypt, the Lord distinguished between the Egyptians and His people by not placing any of the 10 plagues upon the animals or people of Israel, while all of the 10 plagues affected the Egyptians and their animals.

Exodus 11:7 But against none of the children of Israel shall a dog move its tongue, against man or beast, that you may know that the LORD does make a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.

In the book of Leviticus, the Lord promises continued and increasing judgments to be added to those who were His people, if they refused to turn to Him, obey and follow Him:

Leviticus 26:18-20  ”And after all this, if you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.I will break the pride of your power; I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze. And your strength shall be spent in vain; for your land shall not yield its produce, nor shall the trees of the land yield their fruit.”

Notice the term “I will break the pride of your power…”

A term that surely can be applied to the arrogance and pride of America in thinking that we do not need God in our nation. We have repeatedly stated that we want a separation between the church and the state.  It was never the intention of our founding fathers that God be excluded from the decision making part of American government. It was because of God and by His direction that the Constitution was formed and the present form of government that we all enjoy, was conceived. The basis for all of our laws came from the Bible. This fact is well established in the documents that formed the basis of the foundation of our land.

Notice the opening text from the Declaration of Independence, which gives us the reason that the Founding Fathers felt compelled to try and do the impossible :

“When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”

In this one sentence, the founding fathers forcefully declared why they must separate themselves from Great Britain. “The Laws of Nature, and of Nature’s God”. These 8 words expressed a complete manner of Law and of life.

This statement in our founding document declares agenda, a wide spread movement, and has specific beliefs.

The source for this statement was “Blackstone’s Commentary on the Law”

  • Blackstone’s Commentary on the Law was the law book used for years before the American Revolution ever happened
  • Blackstone’s was the primary text book in law schools until 1920
  • Bar exams were taken from this book.
  • The Supreme court quoted from this book several times in its opinions.
  • It was considered to be the final authority on most issues.

Blackstone’s gives us the meaning of these 8 words found in the Declaration of Independence:

“Man considered as a creature, must necessarily be subject to the laws of his Creator, for he is entirely a dependent being. And consequently, as a man depends absolutely upon his maker for everything, it is necessary that in all points conform to his maker’s will , this will of his maker is called the Law of Nature.”

“This law of nature being co-equal with mankind and dictated by God Himself, is of course superior to any other.  It is binding to all the globe, all countries and at all times.  No human laws are of any validity if contrary to this.  This then is the Law of Nature, it is the law of God expressed through His creation.”

“If our reason were always clear and perfect, the task would be pleasant and easy. We would need no other guide but the law of nature.  Every man now finds the contrary in his own experience, we find that our reason is corrupt and our understanding is full of ignorance and error.  This has given manifold occasion for the benign interposition of divine providence which has been pleased at sundry times and diverse manners to discover and enforce His laws by an immediate and direct revelation.  The Doctrines thus delivered, we call the revealed or the divine law and they are to be found only in the Holy Scriptures.”

The Scriptures are the laws of the God who created Nature.

“Upon these two foundations, The law of nature and the law of revelation, of nature’s God, depend all human laws.  That is to say, no human laws can be allowed to contradict these.”

This means that those that framed the Constitution and signed the Declaration of Independence believed that all of our laws in the United States of America came from God and from His Word as found in the Bible.  The Founders of the United States of America believed that man does not have the right, nor the capacity to institute any other laws outside of God’s law.

This legal phrase in Blackstone’s commentary on the law, explains the entire thought process behind why the United States of America was founded from the beginning.

America was founded by Christian men who believed the Bible is the Word of God and that all of our rights and laws come only from the Word of God.

This is no longer true of America today. If it were left up to those who want God out of American government completely, we would be a completely Godless society. The pattern has been set and the course appears certain.

In essence, Americans have been saying for years that they do not want God to influence the decision making in our government.

How is it possible that we could have become a great governing nation because of God’s Hand and yet maintain that we no longer need Him to continue to be a great nation?

The pattern laid out in the book of Leviticus is that the judgments for a rebellious nation come in groups of seven and are carried out, then a pause. Then a continuing of seven more judgments. This pattern is repeated until the entire nation lies in ruins.

Leviticus 26: 21-25  “Then, if you walk contrary to Me, and are not willing to obey Me, I will bring on you seven times more plagues, according to your sins. And if by these things you are not reformed by Me, but walk contrary to Me,

24-25  then I also will walk contrary to you, and I will punish you yet seven times for your sins. And I will bring a sword against you that will execute the vengeance of the covenant; when you are gathered together within your cities I will send pestilence among you; and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.”

When the fulfillment of Leviticus 26 came upon Israel, there was literally nothing left of their nation. Their cities lay in ruins and there was no government, money, or way of life that they formerly enjoyed.

I fear that our wonderful country is headed down the very same road and within my own lifetime, I may see the end of the way of life we have all enjoyed. Unless of course we turn to the Lord again in repentance and sincerity. He will forgive and He will heal our land. Our enemies will be kept at bay and terror will no longer overtake us while we sleep in our beds.
