Activist Judges Removed From Office, It’s About Time

In the midst of so much bad news about America, it was encouraging and refreshing this week to hear of three Iowa judges who were removed from office by voters for their pro-gay marriage stance.

“It was a victory for freedom, a victory for liberty,” said Bob Vander Plaats, the former Republican gubernatorial candidate and Sioux City businessman who started the push to oust the justices. “If we allow courts to make our law, to amend our law and amend our Constitution, you have tyranny. The people of Iowa were very upset that they never had their voice heard on this issue.”

According to Iowa’s electoral system, a sitting judge must gain more yes votes than no votes to win a consecutive eight year term. The three judges who were removed from office received only 46 percent support from voters in Iowa, thereby removing them from office.

In an unprecedented vote, Chief Justice Marsha Ternus and Justices David Baker and Michael Streit failed to receive the simple majority vote needed to remain on the bench.

For decades America has taken the low road on social moral issues that effect the basic foundations of our society. Increases in abortion for the sake of convenience and birth control. Acceptance of the gay lifestyle, and removal of God from all aspects of American government, have taken the United States on a downward spiral mirroring many other great societies before ours, who collapsed from within due to the decay of moral values.

In the book of Second Chronicles, the Lord promised His people that if they would “pray and seek His face and turn from their wicked ways, that He would heal their land…”

2 Chronicles 7:14 “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

It is apparent that Americans in Iowa have heard this call and taken what God said seriously enough that in this mid-term election, they put feet to their faith and voted out of office those who would destroy the moral fiber of America.

Let all those who call on the Name of Jesus as their Savior imitate the actions of these brave and diligent citizens of Iowa and repeat their actions in future elections. All that is required for a turnaround in the fate of America is for those who believe in moral values, go to the poles and voice their belife, to change the course our country is on.

Contrary to the popular saying: “It is not the economy stupid”, it is “the conscience of America”, that is the real problem. The current economic crises, the lack of jobs, and the decrease in the value of the American dollar are only symptoms of a society which has forgotten God. The Lord promised all of us that if we would honor Him first in our lives, our Families and our government, that He would bless us in every way. If we would turn our focus from money and material things to just knowing, loving and pleasing the Lord in all areas of our life, then He would gladly take care of all of our other needs.

The desire to have a home, a good job and be able to provide for our families is a good a necessary goal for every American. When these goals take priority over Loving the Lord first, then the entire economy of our lives and our nations becomes a tangles mess. If we will make the focus of our life a closer relationship with our Lord, we will find that all the other things we have been striving to gain and struggling to keep, are taken care of by the Lord.

Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

As we are encouraged by the faith and action of those in Iowa, let all of us begin to take new action ourselves in the places that matter the most; our homes and individual hearts. I pray that today all of us would examine the condition of our own heart and see if our relationship with Jesus is lacking.

When Martha complained to Jesus that her sister Mary was not helping her serve, Jesus told Martha that what was most important, Mary had already found. Mary just loved to sit at Jesus feet and look into his beautiful face and listen to Him.

Luke 10:40-42 “But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

May all of us become more like Mary in our own private devotional time with Jesus. As we increase our Love and dedication to Him, He will take notice and begin to bring back order and peace to our lives, our families, and our country.
