• The Last Days: A Correct View of the Rapture

The Last Days: A Correct View of the Rapture

How important is it that we continually teach the doctrine of “The Rapture of the Church?” According to Jesus, is one of the most important doctrines that we MUST continually study, meditate on, and continue to look forward to.

One of the points that critics of the Rapture claim, is that “The Rapture is not taught in the Bible”. When I hear someone say this, I am always amazed. I know that they didn’t come to this conclusion by reading and studying the Bible themselves. This opinion came by what they heard someone else say or teach. If we simply read the Bible we will come away with the conviction that Jesus will return for His church at a time just prior to the beginning of the seven year Tribulation.

The description of this event found in Paul’s epistle to the church at Thessalonica, is clear that the Lord will return for His church at time appointed by Him.

  • Signs of the Last Days: “Increase in Lawlessness”

Signs of the Last Days: “Increase in Lawlessness”

For those who watch the news daily for events that continue to indicate the soon arrival of Jesus Christ, this kind of behavior immediately captures our attention. The new testament is filled with verses of scripture warning of a marked increase in “lawlessness” as we approach the return of Jesus.

Matthew 24:3 Now as Jesus sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

Matthew 24:12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.

“Lawlessness” is defined as: “people who are not governed by or obedient to laws.”

In the years immediately preceding the destruction of the earth in the days of Noah, lawlessness was increasing until it reached a pinnacle. At Sodom and Gomorrah, the behavior of the people in the community became so vile and evil in the lawlessness of those cities, that God destroyed everyone who lived there, except Lot and his family.

  • Signs of the Last Days: Scoffers of the “Rapture”

Signs of the Last Days: Scoffers of the “Rapture”

There are some today who claim that the Doctrine of the Rapture of the Church is not taught in the Bible. The proof that these skeptics offer is that the word “Rapture” is not found in the Bible.

Others critics of the event called the Rapture, claim that this doctrine was not known or taught in the early church, but became prominent only in the 1800′s.

Many other scoffers of the Rapture claim that the doctrine of the Rapture is “made up” and is a “false doctrine.”

Remember what satan told Eve? “Did God really say that if you eat of this fruit you will die?, You will not die…”

Today, thanks to the research of those who painstakingly translate ancient documents into the English language, such as the Grant Jeffrey organization, we have startling new evidence for the doctrine of the Rapture from the third century.

  • The Signs of Jesus Return

    The Signs of Jesus Return

The purpose of Bible prophecy is so that we might know that the Bible is not just another book penned by men, but a supernatural document with it’s source from outside time and space. The Bible is unique in that it makes predictions of the future with such detail and precision, that the slightest error would make any one of those prophecies unreliable. In over 2,500 Biblical prophecies, every single minute detail has been completed with precision and accuracy. The odds of any book being able to predict over 2,5o0 events in advance with 100 percent accuracy, is beyond the possibility of chance. The certainty of the fulfillment of these events already predicted and already fulfilled, gives confidence to the remaining 1,000 prophetic predictions that are yet to be fulfilled. If the Bible has been perfectly accurate so far, it is certain that the events spoken of describing the last days before Jesus returns, most certainly will also be fulfilled accurately. The following is a short list of some of those prophetic events already fulfilled, to be fulfilled and in the process of being fulfilled.

This article and the importance of the details of this article, are the reason that I started Bible Prophecy Update. So that you might realize that the Lord of the Universe has a plan that He has been unfolding for thousands of years, and that plan includes His desire to make Himself known to you. As you read, study and become familiar with the events of Bible prophecy, you will realize that the Lord is who He claims to be. That there is a God who is above all creation and who loves every human being equally and with great fervor. When we failed to be what He had created us to be and the defect of sin spread to all human kind, He took it upon Himself to become one of us, and give His life in exchange for all of ours. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ on a Roman cross 2,000 years ago, paid the price all of us owed for our own individual and collective sins, forever. If you will place your complete trust in what Jesus has done for you at the Cross, and accept Jesus as your own Savior, you will be cleansed of your total sin and obtain eternal life.

When Jesus returns next, it will not be physically to the earth, but to the atmosphere above earth, from where He will call out of the earth all those who have already come into a personal relationship with Him and have accepted His sacrifice for their sins. (1 Thessalonians 4:17)

  • The End of All Flesh: The Rise of the New Age

The End of All Flesh: The Rise of the New Age

The Bible describes the timing of this event as being the beginning of a period of seven years of Tribulation. Daniel chapter 11, and 2 Thessalonians chapter 2, indicate that a new world ruler will appear on the scene that will bring peace and calm to a world shattered by news of the disappearance of so many.

According to New Age philosophy, this world leader will also appear on the earth during the last days. He is referred to as the “Maitreya”, who will announce himself as the “Christ”.

The Bible describes this coming leader who is hailed as the “savior”, as being a “false Christ”, or “antichrist”.

During the last seven years of the current age, the Bible describes this false Christ as drawing most of the world into the worship of him as their God.

According to the authors of New Age doctrine, those who have disappeared during the Rapture, will be those who would have rebelled against this new Christ. New Age leader Ruth Montgomery, describes their New Age belief that the Messiah cannot appear on the earth until these troublesome ones have been removed, so that the earth is prepared for his coming. Those who are removed will be sent to another planet where they will be reprogrammed in their thinking. apparently this answer will satisfy most of the world population and they will hail this new leaders as the answer to all of man’s problems.

It will be the rise and pinnacle of the New Age movement that will eventually lead to the removal of the true church and the beginning of the seven year tribulation. The world view of New Age philosophy is that the planet is being prepared for a coming Christ and the uniting of the whole world under one government, one financial system, and one religious system, headed by one man.

  • The Rapture of the Church and 2 Thessalonians Chapter 2

The Rapture of the Church and 2 Thessalonians Chapter 2

From the moment that I first learned the doctrine of the Rapture of the Church in 1975, there has been a deep controversy by those who claim that the Rapture will not occur until after the Tribulation has concluded.

One of the verses of Scripture that is used to prove this position is 2 Thessalonians chapter 2.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 “Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed…”

It should be clear from the context of 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 that Paul is addressing a concern that the Thessalonian church had regarding the coming of Jesus for the second time. There were some in this small church that felt that perhaps the Rapture had already taken place. This being the case, they questioned what had happened to their departed loved ones. Where were they and when would they be resurrected?

  • The Return of Jesus and the Appearance of Antichrist

The Return of Jesus and the Appearance of Antichrist

For many who study Bible Prophecy, the return of Jesus Christ is the most interesting aspect of that study. To imagine that millions of Christians could be scattered all over the world, and in a single instant be translated together into the outer atmosphere of the earth, to meet the Lord, is amazing.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

What will the social and political climate of earth’s people be like when Jesus returns? What conditions will be necessary for Jesus to remove His church from the earth, and the introduction of the antichrist on the world scene?

  • The Final Kingdom of this World

The Final Kingdom of this World

Revelation 11:15 Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!”

News every morning reminds us that this present world cannot continue under it’s current path for much longer. Global financial crisis, sin abounding, the hearts of many growing cold. Man is not getting better, more sophisticated and refined, he is increasingly becoming a debased creature with all restraint being cast off. As with many kingdoms before those presently on the earth, who by their inability to keep social morality controlled, gradually degraded themselves to the point where the were subdued. Not by any foreign enemy who crossed their borders with an invading army, but from within, by the collapse of social morals.

Iran Prepares For a Military Strike by Israel

Intelligence reports from inside Iran say that the Iranian army has recently conducted several air defense drills, simulating an attack by Israel on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Iran has prepared their missile systems and advanced anti-aircraft artillery for an air strike by the Israeli Air force as early as next month.

At the same time, Israel has recently conducted air drills with Italy and Israeli Defense Force fighter pilots. The drill was intended to simulate a missile attack by Iran on the capital city of Tel-Aviv. This in preparation for a retaliatory strike by Iran on Israel, should an air strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities be deemed necessary.

Iran has developed a military with technological abilities unheard of in their history, all in preparation for a future attack on Israel. The president of Iran has made it his life’s mission to usher in the arrival of the Islamic Mahdi by the annihilation of all Jews in Israel.

  • Will Billy Graham’s Passing Bring the Rapture?

Will Billy Graham’s Passing Bring the Rapture?

Billy Graham turned 93 On Monday November 7, 2011. For decades he has led more people to a saving faith in Jesus Christ, than any other man in history. According to estimates, more than 3.2 million people have received Jesus Christ by the invitation of Mr. Graham, since his first call to the altar in 1949. According to records, more than 2.2 billion people have heard about Jesus Christ since that first invitation went out 64 years ago.

I was contemplating the incredible life of Mr. Graham over the weekend and how incredible his ministry has been guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit to accomplish so much for Jesus. At 93, Mr. Graham has stated in his new book introduced this past October, that growing old has had many challenges that he did not expect. It would be impossible for any man to achieve the age of 93, unless the Lord had a very specific purpose for that extended age.

Asteroid Near Miss on Tuesday: Warnings of Revelation Chapter 8

On Tuesday November 8, 2011, the Earth will encounter one of the closest “near miss” confrontations with an Asteroid, that has occurred in more than 40 years. Given the name Asteroid “2005 YU55″, there will be just 202,000 miles between this large asteroid and our planet. If that does not sound to you like much of a threat, understand that the moon is approximately 238,856 miles from earth. Imagine an object over 1,000 feet long, traveling at 30,000 miles per hour, and it’s distance from earth, less than that of the moon.

Were an object of this size to strike our planet, the force would be equal to over 500 nuclear explosions the size of Hiroshima, detonated all at once. A strike on our planet of this magnitude would generate massive tectonic plate shifts, Tsunamis in excess of 70 feet, and would annihilate many Island communities, as well as those living on the coastlands of mainland countries. The death toll could conceivably be in excess of several hundred million.

  • Evidence of the Rapture from the First Century

Evidence of the Rapture from the First Century

A recent archaeological discovery dated from the first century, confirms that those in the early church believed in the resurrection of Jesus Christ as well as their own future resurrection from the dead, if they would trust Christ.

Officially labeled as NCE 156 and written in the Greek language on stone, the text of the inscription reveals the Biblical belief in a “Bridal Chamber” awaiting those who die in Christ. The promise given by Jesus at our death, or that we should be alive when He comes for His church, is that we will be His Bride.

John 3:29 He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled.

1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.

The idea of a Bridal chamber came from an old testament verse that describes a time of indignation or wrath occurring on the earth, while those who trust in the Savior as His Bride, will be hidden in that chamber until the indignation has passed.

Isaiah 26:19-21 Your dead shall live; Together with my dead body they shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust; For your dew is like the dew of herbs, And the earth shall cast out the dead. Come, my people, enter your chambers, And shut your doors behind you; Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, Until the indignation is past. For behold, the LORD comes out of His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; The earth will also disclose her blood, And will no more cover her slain.

  • 2012 Peace Plan in Israel and U.N. Resolution 181 in Prophecy

2012 Peace Plan in Israel and U.N. Resolution 181 in Prophecy

In 1947 a historic resolution was recommended for the partitioning of Israel into two new states. The purpose of the proposal was to allow the Palestinian people to have their own state within the state of Israel.
That proposal was called Resolution 181, the 1947 Partition Plan.

In order for that resolution to be binding, both the Jews and the Arabs had to agree on the terms of that plan. The resolution was adopted on November 29, 1947 by a vote of 33-12 under the General Assembly of the United Nations.

The United States, Soviet Union, France, and Australia supported the resolution. Syria, Egypt Saudi Arabia and Iraq rejected resolution 181 with the threat of military action if it were to be implemented.

The purpose of the resolution was to provide statehood for the Jewish people and allow the Palestinian people to live alongside them in peace. Because the Arab states rejected this resolution and the need for Israel’s right to survive, the United Nations took further steps to effect peace in the region by the approval of Resolution 181.

    Rosh Hashanah, and the Rapture

    Rosh Hashanah, and the Rapture

There are some skeptics of The Doctrine of the Rapture that say that this is not taught in the Bible. They do so while ignoring 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 and other key bible verses that clearly describe the removal of believers in Jesus Christ from the earth.

Paul is writing this letter to the church in Thessalonica, to believers in Jesus Christ, because a false doctrine had been circulating that said that Jesus had already returned the second time to the earth. The believers there were concerned that if Jesus had already returned, then what happened to their loved ones who had already died, where were they? Paul writes to tell them that Jesus has not returned yet, and when He does return, here is what will happen.

  • The Return of Jesus and the Acceptance of Sin

The Return of Jesus and the Acceptance of Sin

As we approach the return of Jesus for His church, world-wide the acceptance of sin is increasing dramatically. Young people who claim that they love Jesus, yet live together in the same home without being married to each other. Men and women who claim to be Christians, yet live in a homosexual or lesbian relationship.

Rather than offend those who live in these lifestyles, Christians say nothing, hiding behind the phrase “I just love them and accept them the way they are…”

Jesus said that when we accept the sin of a confessing follower of him and say nothing about it, that he will hold us accountable for our indecisiveness.

    The Pre-Wrath Rapture

    The Pre-Wrath Rapture

One of the discussions of greatest frequency regarding Bible Prophecy, is that of “When will the Rapture of the Church occur”. Will it be before the 7 year Tribulation Period, in the middle of this time of wrath, or at the end just prior to Jesus’ physical return to the earth?

Let me say at the onset of this post that the doctrine of the Rapture of the Church, I consider that it is one of the most important foundational doctrines in the Bible. It is important in understanding correctly, the Grace of God, and His lack of will to punish with His wrath, His people along with the rest of the world.

  • May 21st, The Rapture, The Problem With Setting Dates

May 21st, The Rapture, The Problem With Setting Dates

Matthew 24:36-39 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

With a setting of the date for the Rapture and the beginning of the seven year tribulation as May 21st, 2011, the ministry of Harold Camping joins the long list of many others who have tried to predict events Jesus said “No man could know”.

I am not sure which part of “That day and hour no one knows…: was misunderstood, but by the writing of this article, it is clear that no man knows the day or hour of the event called “The Rapture”.

Jesus does not want us to know that day. He has always intended that it would be a date that would surprise the secular world, and be a date to watch for by the Christian church. By not knowing the day or the hour when the Rapture would take place, Jesus intends that all of us who love Him and believe He will return for us, would be kept in a constant state of expectation.

Palm Sunday: A Day Chosen Out of Eternity.

Palm Sunday: A Day Chosen Out of Eternity.

April 17, 2011 is Palm Sunday

On this Palm Sunday, many people will go to church and never realize the importance of this single day in the lives of every human being on the earth.

The Lord determined that He would tell us the exact day that the Savior of the world would come to the earth, and He revealed this day through this word of Prophecy.

Jesus condemned the leaders in Israel because they did not recognize the day of His first coming:

Luke 19:41-44 Now as Jesus drew near, He saw the city of Jerusalem and wept over it, saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.

This “Day of visitation” was predicted in the Old Testament Book of Daniel, and this prophecy in Daniel is the key to all other Bible Prophecy and an understanding of the Second Coming of Jesus to the Earth.
